Separate channels via footswitch at present. There is a footswitch that comes with the preamp but I’m switching via a Bright Onions ABY on my board.

Not got a shot ‘in the wild’, but here’s mine. Doing a bass/drums noisy two-piece thing currently. Very happy with this setup for it, and the first time I’ve gone down the rack route. Crown XLS 1502 Power amp and Hilbish Design Beta Preamp (doubt there are many in the UK. I got very lucky finding this I think given the high shipping and import fees). Using both channels, each going to separate cabs. Channel 1 dirty bass (from the drive on the preamp), Channel 2 routed through an octave up, dirtbox and other stuff. The photo doesn’t do the preamp justice either, it’s a lovely black sparkle finish Sounds gloriously massive.

Hey @kingforaday, this thread is ace! Congratulations, both on this score and your collection.

I take my hat off to those who are kind enough to share basses out, you’re genuinely warm-hearted people. Not for me though. For me these days it’s neither my fault or problem if you’re not prepared enough for the gig you’re playing. If you’ve blown your amp up, go through the desk. If you’ve knackered your bass and don’t have a backup, well there’s a very important lesson you’ve learned. And if I lend you a bass a) I don’t know you so therefore it’s something of a liability and b) you likely won’t learn that important lesson… I do love that many of you are so much nicer than me though!

I am going to tune my short scale bass BEAD. Am I nuts?
mr4stringz replied to BELA's topic in Bass Guitars
I went this route the best part of 20 years ago with a Precision. It was a great move for me. The band I was in at the time called for heavy downtuning or a B string. I’ve never been a fan of floppy downtuned strings and couldn’t get on with a 5 string at all at the time. New nut, bit of truss rod adjustment etc and a set of Ernie Ball Beefy Slinkys and I never looked back. It’s still strung that way now, sounds like thunder and remained my main bass well after that band split up. Only isn’t now as I’ve shifted to shortys in my current band. Not tried it yet with a s/s but it has crossed my mind. -
No, but I do very much wish I’d pursued my desire to buy one of the short lived Waterstone Sandman basses back when they were a thing. The scrolled horn on these (obvs copped from the Premier Multivox that MS is playing in this vid) is something I’ve always dug in a weird and wonderful kind of way.

OK, you can all give up the bass and go home now

I’m no fan of the gurning bass face and playing to the camera stylings of most of the Insta/TikTok crowd if I’m honest, even when the playing is out of this world. I love this vid though. The difference? She actually genuinely looks like she’s having fun… -
Jeez, that’s bloody lovely looking! Love the visual of a P pickup on it. Enjoy!

The Short Scale Bass Appreciation Society!
mr4stringz replied to Baloney Balderdash's topic in Bass Guitars
Yeah, most domestic suppliers have them on back order, as so many guitars and basses are at the moment. I got mine from Thomann. 5/6 days from order to delivery and ordering back to being really easy from there now they’ve got their ducks lined up on the Brexit stuff. £969 delivered. None in stock in the UK for close to that price from what I found. -

Ah, you’re on here too. Glad you got back OK with it! -
It’s a fair point regarding paid reviews, but to be launching signature products from players of the calibre of Geezer, Myung and Pratt with not even a video from the artists themselves is odd to say the least. Thought the same thing with the Shavo head/Geezer head/Zender pedal etc. etc.

Just hear waiting for someone to mock up a Nelson Mandela sig bass. Prerequisites include that it must have AnC strings.

There’s a document linked off the Fender Custom Shop site that covers their process. That’s about all I know! http://www.fmicassets.com/sites/fender.com/themes/img/customshop/2021/2021_Custom_Shop_Design_Guide.pdf
