  1. All joking apart, how long ago are we talking this work was done? Weeks, months, years? Did you supply the parts and they just fitted them etc… If this has been done in recent times I’d suggest picking back up with them, although (and not excusing any lack of good workmanship that may be evident), I also wouldn’t accept any bass back after work being done until I had fully checked it and been 100% happy.
  2. Only potential purchase on my mind just now for next year is a BF One10 and maybe a couple of pedals, though out of nowhere and for the first time ever I’m currently feeling drawn to the Hofner Club. Hope that passes though as I really and genuinely do not need another bass.
  3. Is “The next layer of sweat” an acceptable answer?
  4. I like to tell people I’m a bassist so they stop talking to me and move away.
  5. Looks like an ornate (and ‘orrible) beer pull with a bass attached.
  6. Quick question for any Danelectro Longhorn owners out there. Any tips on what flats work well? I know there’s a La Bella specific set, but wondering if there are others people like and use? Opinions on the web seem to suggest that the slots on the tuning pegs won’t accept all strings? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
  7. Always loved the look of the TE Tramp! Think a JMJ Mustang is all I’ve bought this year (pics elsewhere on the shortie thread), but it’s one of the best bits of gear I’ve bought in 30 odd years so a definite highlight. I’ve sold two amps and a cab this year, so mostly a year of rationalising, given we’re coming up on 2 years since I last gigged. THAT’S my biggest gear letdown! 🤣
  8. Don't know on that one, but Clapton’s use of a racist term when talking about Hendrix predated the Birmingham diatribe by some years.
  9. Whether by extension due to an overly litigious legal team or whether directly, Clapton once again showing what a complete tube he is.
  10. Digitech Whammy Ricochet is another possible option? Will do 2nd, 4th, 5th, 7th and octave (up or down).
  11. I’m exactly the same. As a ‘normal’ standard/heavy use bass I’ve never been able to gel with Jazz basses. Fretless though they sound and feel ‘right’ to me somehow. Maybe it’s in my head, I don’t know. Nice lineup, anyhow!
  12. The disappointment that he’s not opened a brewery instead.
  13. Agree on the jazz-tinged ska suggestion from what I heard just now. Not that it’s always best to reverse engineer these things but didn’t you (or whoever sorted the upload) have to put one or two identifying genres as part of the process? Might kind of answer the question for you…
  14. Wooten seemed to do OK with his first try recently. https://bassmagazine.com/artists/victor-wooten-makes-some-funk-e-magic-with-his-reverb-mystery-box-watch
  15. Indeed. Sometimes what I hold is shorter, sometimes longer. Not only that but I find the girth differs too when I put my hand around it. Occasionally I may pop on a G string etc etc. David, Smell the Glove is here…
  16. Nearly got the spelling right! My I/eye was in the wrong place!
  17. eBay seller earliplanz will make them for anything and is decent and reasonable based on my limited experience.
  18. I think in your original post you actually raised some very valid questions in fairness. Though, also in fairness, to liken yourself to Greta Thunberg in whatever small way for the some of the responses to your post when you literally said in your opening post that it was “for the sake of argument” is maybe a tad OTT. Regardless, as an extension to those valid points, to make the vast majority of these basses work to their full potential we need electricity. It’s all worthy of consideration, and being mindful of, but it’s a never ending rabbit hole too I guess.
  19. Sorry but that really does read like a trade! Seriously though I can see why, they really are great basses.
