1. If I were to buy a ticket I'd quite like to see the following vendors added: Ashdown Fender/Squier (big miss IMO) JHS/Vintage (they're doing some cool stuff!)
2. I heard the new models don't respond well to changes in temperature, and often warp can you confirm?
3. Exciting!!! Did you gt it second hand or are they releasing a new run of them? I've fancied one for ages!
4. I had the 'Amber' version of the same bass, also had SPB-3's in there - this is a lot of bass for the money folks. Good luck with the sale.
5.
Why are the La Bella rounds so expensive over here? I've just ordered a custom set direct from La Bella and they came to $13.21, which according to Googles conversion thingy works out at £8.34, a bit better than the £35-40 over here. Even with the postage it's less than £20, can't remember at what price import charges start but I'll take my chances.
I just ordered a set myself after finding the Ernie Ball 6 string set that most shops advertise as suitable for Bass VI are actually no good for a 6 in line headstock. The La Bellas cost me £15 including shipping and I was able to pick the gauge of every string, can't really argue with that.
6. I think it's a combination of all the points above, plus I'm pretty sure every Skyline bass goes back through the main US factory for the final QC and a set up. That alone is worh a lot given the rep the U.S. Lakland basses have, although I guess this is less relevant in the used market. Perhaps it does just come back to the fact that there's a proliferation of US Fenders available in the used market, which drags down the value.
7.
Might need to change your avatar then
He went there once, never again.
8.
There`s only one answer to that, and it is Tort.
Yep.
9. So nice. If that had been one of the original Daphne Blue ones I think I may have cracked
10. Mark Hoppus from 'Take Off Your Pants and Jacket' onwards. Such a killer tone. Good examples include Online Songs, Not Now, and Wishing Well http://youtu.be/CJTld_Qi-Bk http://youtu.be/HvcOuExmeJg http://youtu.be/Yc_w_uIdLVU
11. STOP IT NOW. I have too many basses
12. Nice! Forgive my ignorance, but how does the adjustable tension work?
13.
I don`t know much about Jazzes, but both MIA and MIM Precisions from 2008 onwards I`ve found to just feel much nicer to play, particularly the MIMs.
This. I've owned 3 MIM basses with dates ranging from 2004 through to 2014, and played all sorts in between, and while my old Deluxe Active P is a cracking example, the general trend I've noticed is that the newer stuff is better quality. When it comes to MIM vs MIA all of the above points are valid. I haven't ever been able to justiy the extra expense of the American series because I'm not in a band or gigging, but if you're on the circuit a couple of nights a week it would definitely be a sound investment. Just make sure the differences sound/feel good to you before you decide for sure.
14.
Especially as you won, Dave.
I promise to bring a different bass if that would help Winning aside, it was a great afternoon- I was able to play basses I didn't think I would ever have the privilege of playing, met some great people and left with one more bass than I came with! How could I not want to repeat that experience?
15. I'd be up for this. The Herts bash was a load of fun.
16. Two very nice basses there. The Stingray in particular.
17. Both extremely well played. The only distinction I could make was bass 2 had a bit more 'clank' perhaps suggesting it was a little tougher to play - having never played a Pino I can't definitively say which is easier to play, so I'm going to sit on the fence Interested to see the result though.
18. If you can handle not having a 'traditional' looking P the Road Worn Mike Dirnt signature bass is one of the nicest Precisions I've ever played, and is retailing around the £8-900 mark on Thomann.
19. Very nice! I always wondered what the 'Lyte' referred to - is it because it's a smaller body than a regular P?
20. You caved! Looks lovely, and it sounds like you've got yourself a keeper there!
21. I got Wunjoed yesterday afternoon. Left with a lovely new VT Bass (killer) after trying a couple of different pedals and having a very straight chat with Laurence about what would be best for me. I honestly don't see myself buying anywhere else. Amazing shop.
