1. The only reason I would pick an OLP over a new SUB bass would be the finish - the OLP's came in much cooler colours (metallic blue, silver). Otherwise my experience with the two is pretty similar. Decent build, decent tone, decent price!
2.
I recently bought a Fender Rumble 15 (the older series) and it`s great for portability, plus the sound is very good for such a small amp. I`ve also got an Ampeg BA108 but compared to the Fender it is much heavier, yet not that much bigger, plus - and I hate to say it as an avid Ampeg fan - I prefer the sound of the Fender as well.
I had a couple of BA110's go faulty on me so I bought the same Rumble 15 and it was a cracking upgrade. I've since upgraded again to the current series Rumble 40 which has an even more versatile EQ, and a built in distortion which is fun to play about with. OH and it looks AWESOME.
3.
And the Argentinian Malbec at £5.99 is superb!
It really is! Gotten through a few bottles of that over the last month!
4. Precision kills Stingrays. In all seriousness, I can never get 'my' sound out of a Ray, it always seems to come out a little too harsh and scooped for me.
5. I think it's literally the difference between the black one being an 'export' model (and therefore priced at a premium) and the new FSR model being aligned to the price of the local Japanese range. Basically someone in Fender's commercial marketing team f*cked up.
6. So my La Bella's arrived - got them on the Bass VI about an hour ago and honestly it is like night and day compared to the stock Squier strings. Much more full, no horrible buzz, much better string tension. If you have a Bass VI ordering direct from La Bella is the way to go.
7. Bargain. Played one of these in GAK a while back and it was cracking. I'm not even a Jazz man.
8.
Mids, mids, mids. No mids? No hear.
This. Solved it for me when I was first finding my 'band' feet when I was starting out.
9. That's a stunner Karl and I don't even like Jazz basses
10. Some of the 'off-the-shelf' CS stuff goes between £2-£3k - have a look at Coda Music and Thomann.
11.
I have already sung the praises of Tom and Laurence at Wunjos a few times. The only shop that can get me to part with my money for new gear.
Just this. They're absolutely brilliant.
12. I got my Hoppus Precision Bass from them for the price of a Mexican Standard Jazz from anywhere else in the UK. Madness really. Must be a buying power thing.
13. It would be amazing if you could get Mark from Limelight along! Desperate to check out some of his basses!
14. Ohhh man. £80 Cheaper and that would be right up my street. I don't think I can justify that just on a whim!
15.
Yeah, it is a peach, 7.8lbs, flamed maple neck. Debating some more 'vintage' pickups rather than the SD 1/4lb ones but it's a great bass.
A set of Fender originals and you basically have yourself a American Vintage 62 for a third of the price! I didn't get on with the QP's in the first bass I had them in, but in the reverse position on my Hoppus sig they sound phenomenal!
16.
The Antique White 44-01 looks great too! Si
My favourite of the lot I think!
17.
Yeah, it's a beaut! http://instagram.com/p/mz_y55OQTw/
Is it a Nate Mendel? The guard and the extra bling have got me confused
18. https://www.hallshire.com/halls/1/england/58/london/page/1 Plenty of options!
19.
Yeah will take some in better light, but for now... http://instagram.com/p/vooTstuQTx/ http://instagram.com/p/voomAsuQWF/
Love that Precision.
20.
Remember that the Mark Hoppus was the most popular P bass in the Herts Bash P bass test earlier this year..
This is the ORGINAL Hoppus bass which has the standard pickup orientation. Mine is the newer reverse setup. Still, both versions are cracking basses and the refin looks like a great job. Can't say I agree with Surf Green being boring though
