1. Bit of a thread resurrection here, but I have just put a deposit down on a white VM Bass VI, which should be arriving Thursday
 2.
Easily the best music shop, period! It's my local. I live in Devon.
It was only yesterday after trying a couple of basses in a large music retailer (outside of London) that I realised how lucky I am to have Wunjo on my doorstep. The experience was like night and day.
 3.
Excellent bass, great extras, bargainacious!!! GLWTS Bump.
Thanks Karl. It's everything a Precision should be!
 4.
Oh stop it will you...
Always have been a tease Tom. You know you want it
 5.
MB1. Topic Reopened.
Thanks Martin!
 6. The P will lose some value as soon as you buy it because it's a brand new bass. The G&L probably have a more stable re-sale value, although it's worth investigating the market price for used G&L's to make sure you aren't being shafted in the first place
 7.
Thanks. Been thinking about a tort pickguard for a while. Might do that soon.
I'd go white pearl or mint green myself! But tort would still look great!
 8.
It's about £1,500 more than the '64 I sold a while ago . . .
I guess that's the Gallery taking their cut? And then some
 9.
Here's mine. CIJ, Squier classic vibe and an Ibby Blazer.
I've been after a Sonic Blue CV for ages! Very cool.
 10.
Rumble head + 410, unless weight portability an issue, then it would be the Rumble 500. So much more power for your money. Both Rumbles will be giggable, the Orange possibly not.
This. Either Fender rig would see you through all but the biggest of club gigs, and in my experience they sound ace too.
 11.
Headphones?
I should've said, I have headphones covered already, but it's nowhere near as satisfying as playing aloud through an amp, hence the request!
 12. Nope, but based on it being the only Fender that meets your brief it's probably worth taking the punt
 13. I'm about to move into a new flat (yay!) but it's on the first floor, with neighbours above and below. I'm trying to figure out what the best solution would be to reduce the amount of noise that travels through the floor. My first thought was a foldable amp stand - anyone use these? Or, do you have any other bright ideas?
 14.
When I read 'and what a price', I imagined it was going to be around £300... what a price indeed. *Has cardiac arrest*
The new Mexican model that I played today is £680 list, hardly cardiac territory The £6k custom shop model is indeed ridiculous.
 15. Played the new one in Wunjo today, the finish is SO cool in the flesh, good build, and lots of sounds available from the three single coils. I much preferred it to a Jazz, lots more warmth on offer.
 16.
Seriously thinking about this - if I can ever get to hear one, that is.
Likewise! £400 on Thomann!
 17.
Tell me about it. The walk from the overground at London Bridge to the Jubilee line was killer. Down-escalators with a Burman in each hand is hardly living the dream!
You know there are lifts all the way down, right?
 18.
Go for the Squier vintage modified P bass or the Classic Vibe P bass. both are available in white and have better build quality/pickups/hardware than the standard series dude. I've played them both and they're both stunning basses to play.
Not sure the CV comes in white, but definitely another vote from me for the VM P. Howie's VM used to be mine and it was (still is I'm sure) a cracking example of a P bass.
 19.
That sucks! I would personally return it for another one, and make sure you don't have to pay the return shipping as its not your fault it was handled by a bunch of apes!
This. Although the fact that it was the inner box only suggests to me it was Thomann's own handling that did the damage.
 20.
Why do you get a limited warranty ..?? how do they justify that. I'd not be happy with that on the face of it, and that in itself would want to make me think I don't want it back..and would want a return on my monies...??
I think it's probably limited in the same was as the warranties on most products, in that it covers issues not caused by 'improper' use or user error.
 21.
Got to say though, I had a 2012 MIM Precision and it was much better than the earlier ones I`ve had. maybe luck, or maybe Fender have upped the MIMs, whichever it was a great player.
I have a 2011 MIM Standard P which is definitely a step up from the early 00's equivalents I had played previously.
 22.
For those that missed it; this from the Herts Bass Bash has to be worth looking at: It's not definitive, of course, but it has to tell you that it's all down to the actual bass, strings, pups etc. Original thread: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/238458-herts-bash-2-the-precision-test/page__hl__herts__st__60
That was mine All three of my basses are Mexican Fenders and they are great instruments. Solid build, solid finish, and great tones. My first Fender is now 10 years old and scratchy pots aside it hasn't had a major issue since I've owned it. That said, the one US Fender I played recently (US Deluxe Jazz) blew me away on all fronts, but I doubt I could ever justify the £1k+ price tag for what I do. If I were in your shoes I would head to the biggest music shop in the vicinity, expressing your intention to buy, and then trying every Fender/Squier in the shop until you find the one you click with. It might not be the one you expect.
