1.
V4B Delivered and I concur its LOUD with immense presence
Love the V4B. Was trying a Squier in Wunjo a while ago and they put me through one paired with a 2x12 - it was like dying and going to tone heaven.
2. Has the market really slowed this much?! For £75 more than most are asking for a used Standard P you're getting a noiseless Jazz pickup, Jazz neck, 3 band EQ and a US bridge! Bonafide bargain. Have another bump on me and GLWTS.
3. I'll have the EB's. PM sent.
4. At Lozz's request I'm bringing my Mark Hoppus sig tomorrow (rather than the Deluxe active P) See you all about midday tomorrow!
5.
I shall have a look Most tracks are Standard tuning and the others are down by a semitone if that helps?
That does help, but unfortunately not what I was hoping for :-( thanks though!
6. Are the backing tracks for the older tracks in Eb or standard? It would be ace to play along to Dookie tracks without having to tune down.
7.
Fender, just please make American Standards in classic colours like LPB, sea foam green, fiesta red and sonic blue. You will sell a LOT.
This.
8.
Hoppus please, am trying to keep to passive, plus the pickups are "reversed" aren`t they? Shoul have a nice bearing on the tone methinks (plus have always wanted to hear that configuration anyway ).
They are indeed! Consider it done.
9.
Added on my list Gary, will update the post on here over the wkend.
Lozz, I have 2 (potentially non-qualifying) Precisions but can only bring one. Which would you prefer to add? Fender Deluxe Active P (Rosewood, ACTIVE and no option to play passive) Or Fender Mark Hoppus 'Precision'/Jazz bass (bearing in mind there are already a couple of basses with QP's)
10.
...then got back in a band after two year off, and the internet had happened. Too much information not always good for the wallet!
Too true sometimes I think of Basschat as more curse than blessing! Love you all really though!
11. That is just lovely.
12. Very nice. Don't often see maple boards on 'modern' style basses, and I love the colour.
13. A pickup swap would be my recommendation. Quarterpounders or Model J would do the trick for under £100 including installation if you didn't fancy doing it yourself. Pickups wouldn't lose a lot of value for having been in a bass so you could always take them out again and flip them if not to your taste.
14. Get one if these sooner rather than later if you want one. They've been around a while and are discounted pretty heavily vs their launch price (available online at £199ish!) which suggests to me that Fender are helping their retailers clear the decks before something new comes along.
15. I had one for a bit (and sold it to Discreet!) and it was a great bass for the dosh. The pickups are VERY hot. Lots of output. I just don't like Jazz basses
16. I would like to see Mark come up with a cracking design of his own for the forthcoming basses. If his craftsmanship is anything to go by I'm sure he could do something brilliant, and hopefully start to build his brand further. I would still consider buying one on the merit of being able to spec my own bass alone..
17. Did you feel all warm and fuzzy inside? I know I did
18. I have the Rumble 40 (great!) and played through the 500 in GAK whilst I was day tripping through Brighton. Wasn't there for long, but it sounded...like a bigger, meaner version of my 40! Well worth the price of admission if you ask me.
19. If you like the look of a CV but want a maple fretboard I would heartily recommend the Matt Freeman precision, which is basically the CV P with a different neck and cooler finishes (vintage white!!) http://www.fender.com/squier/basses/precision-bass/matt-freeman-precision-bass-maple-fingerboard-black/
20. The Gotoh 201 would be my 'go-to' (get it?) if I were to change the bridge on one of my Precisions. I haven't used one myself but they look solid without being overbearing, and you can pick one up for £50 or less.
21. I have one of these. It's been an absolute workhorse for 10 years now. Great basses.
22.
If you're on a budget or just don't want to spend valve amp money you could try a BDI-21 (£26) which sounds very close indeed to a SansAmp and will give you 'SVT-ish' at a fraction of the price. If you don't like it you can move it on without much loss. But I think you'll like it. I do agree though that there is nothing that provides the grit and pure slam of a valve amp - and it has to have valve pre AND power stages in my humble opinion - a valve pre into a SS power stage just doesn't sound the same.
+1 on the Behringer. Best bit of kit you can buy sub-£50 if you ask me. I leave mine 'always on' to give me as close to a valve sound as I will get out of my practise amp. My only advice when using it would be to dial back the blend knob to about half way so you get a bit of mid range from your amp's EQ. The pedal has a tendency to scoop the mids. @Mark, I had been wondering whether or not to buy something like a Terror Bass or one of the Hartke heads but I have been doubting whether a valve pre alone would be 'enough'. You've confirmed my doubts!
23. http://www.notreble.com/buzz/2014/06/16/fender-introduces-american-standard-jaguar-bass/ The white/tort is incredible.
24.
Now if that can come with a maple board then I'd be very interested
On my phone and on the tube so I can't see for myself but try this http://www.configurator.sandberg-guitars.de EDIT: Here you go
