1. Another Squier fan here. I had a VM Precision for a while and it was a great bass. In fact it was that bass that got me back in to playing after a few years away. Great bang for buck. My experience with the CV range echoes most of the comments here too - brilliant basses that are the very top of the Squier shop.
2.
Me likey a lot! I much prefer the tuners 4 and 1 too compared to 5 in a row Fender 5s, I like maple, I like blocks,I like jazz basses, I like oly white, I like 5 strings,I like black pickguards and I like chromes knobs....so it was in for a chance of me liking it! Lol
Sounds like you need to get to the shop
3.
It is nice indeed, and will be for sale again in the new year
It would make a good twin
4. Lovely bass mate. One of the other bassists at my gig last night was rocking a Ric and it sounded killer. I almost wanted to ditch my P!

6. Love the look, I had no idea they existed in that colour! Very pricey though.
7. Always been interested to try this combo but the only basses I'm aware of are Sandbergs which are a bit out of my price range!
8. We used to call it 'mad Friday'. The bar I worked at was open 4 til 4. Says it all.
9. You'll have to report back and tell us how you get on, sounds like it's going to work out just fine.
10.
Well I`ve found that in comparison to my own rosewood necked ones, but my current backup is an alder Precision w maple, and there is a much warmer/chunkier sound to this bass, and to my ears less top than on the 78 (like Discreet says with his 76) which is ash w maple. Still not sure if ash body or 70s pickups is the culprit for "the scoop" though.
My Hoppus is ash (granted with rosewood rather than maple) and I thought it sounder warmer than your 78 when we had the Precision-off at the Herts bash. So PERHAPS the scoop is more to do with the pickups. Far from conclusive though!
11. Brilliant! I know exactly what you mean, my old band lost two and gained one for six months or so and we didn't skip a beat. In fact we went to a really cool place with our sound trying out some ska/old school punk rather than the pop-punk stuff we had been playing. That said, when our original guitarist swapped back in when he was feeling up for it again it was just as good a feeling. Sometimes change works for everyone
12. Certain American dealers have a Surf Green/Maple version of the Ray 4. I wish I could get my hands on one of those bad boys but they won't export them to the UK. 13. Amazing. They have some really fine looking Custom Shop P-basses on there!
14. Finally have some specs for the Dee Dee... http://www.notreble.com/buzz/2014/12/10/fender-announces-dee-dee-ramone-precision-bass-guitar/ So it's a Mexican Standard P with a scribble on the headstock
15. Pics! I just saw this on GAK and had a GAS attack
16. Different league, but I have the new Rumble 40 and it's a great amp. Really light, lovely warm tones and it's pretty loud for such a little thing.
17. Strings and batteries were the two things I was going suggest, change those and you should be set :-)
18.
Rancid's Matt Freeman always has such a great tone, people seem to get turned off by tracks like Maxwell Murder and Axiom but his playing and tone on stuff like Roots Radicals, Detroit, Time Bomb, Sidekick, Soundsystem, Up to no good and so many other tracks is just fantastic. Getting to hear him live is always a blast.
I used to cover Journey in my old band back in school. So much fun to play, and as you rightly say, Matt has a killer tone. I always thought it was interesting that he used to use GK amps in the AOCTW era, as opposed to the usual Ampeg fare that most punk players plump for. He's all Fender (and Squier) these days though.
19.
Well mcnach will be along to tell you to get a John East 3 band which would be cool but I think a guy on ebay sells the 2 eq quite cheap, theres not much to them really.
This one? (No affiliation, for the record) http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&alt=web&id=281130564526
