1.
They are top notch musicians IMO, and good lads! I do take your point that as a demo for the pickups, they don't really show what they can do for standard finger type playing etc.
You won't hear me questioning their ability- it's obvious that they're incredibly talented musicians! My challenge in this case would be to Seymour Duncan to produce a 'straight' demo that showcases how the pickups sound when played with fingers/pick.
 2.
This is a particularly annoying example I found recently; SPB-3 Quarter Pound for P-Bass:
That one in particular does my nut. I was trying to suss out whether to buy a bass with QP's as they're 'made' for the type of music I play (punk, rock, indie etc.) - I don't get ANY idea of how they really sound from that video.
 3. Looks the business mate. The product coming out of Mexico these days is cracking. My Hoppus sig plays and sounds as good as any US Fender I've played.
 4. Great review, amazing looking bass, and I suddenly find myself wanting a Jazz again.
 5. Had an '11 in exactly this paint job and it was a killer bass. Great value on offer here.
 6.
Well that's very kind of you, sir... I will PM you in a day or two if that's OK..?
No worries!
 7.
Again, this is what I want to hear! Also the size, weight and cost are very favourable... and it looks cool, too... dammit!
I'm in Anerley these days Mark - you're more than welcome to pop over and have a blast through my 40 (not quite the same, I know) to get a feel for the different preamp voicings/tones available.
 8.
There is some presumption that they are based largely on the Genz Benz amps, anyone looked inside any? I liked the Contour amps which I'd guess these are the same as but in a new box.
Fender acquired GB, GB disappears from the market, Fender releases new lightweight range of amps. It's an easy conclusion to draw, but I can't say I'm an expert, nor have I cracked open my amp to have a look!
 9.
I'm guessing I could always plug in my Markbass extension cab if more volume was required?
Definitely for your bigger gigs. I believe the 500 bizarrely operates at 350watts at 8 Ohms, so you need an extension cab to get all the juice out of it. As an aside, I love the Rumble amps. I bought one of the previous gen 15's after two similarly priced Ampegs crapped out on me, and then upgraded to the new Rumble 40 (lighter, XLR out, 3 preamp voices, 4-band EQ, and built in overdrive) which I see no need to upgrade. It's a cracking amp.
 10.
It did indeed, at the Herts Bass Bash, and it wasn`t a close call - it won by miles.
That's my bass! There was some stiff competition too!
 11.
It`s not too heavy Dave, but not a lightweight either. I`ve not got any scales but in comparison to my 2008 Precision, which I know is about 8.8lbs, it feels a bit heavier so I`d put it at 9.3lbs at a guess.
So somewhere between your '08 and your '78?
 12.
I fitted the Stinger preamp yesterday and it's transformed the bass, in fact I've put my amp levels back and it's very articulate too, I'm glad I did it.
Nice work. How was the fitting of it? Easy enough to do?
 13. Very nice. I had one eye on that in the marketplace, it's lush!
 14. Love the contrast between the body and the neck. Congrats!
 15.
I have a solution to it all! Unscrew the plate, and flip it around, and screw it down again. Voila! The pots and the writing are the correct way around
We have a winner.
 16. Can anyone share their experiences of the 75 Jazz copy? Incredibly tempting at that price. I had a J&D for a little while which was ace, but I'm sort of sold on the ash body on the natural model, and having Wilko pickups in there is reassuring.
 17.
Thanks Dave... it does a bit. I could remove the Squier logo and write something illegible with a Sharpie - that would do it.
Instant uplift in value of 300%
