1. That's a good looking piece of wood!
2.
You'll end up with an avatar like skej21!
Haha, good spot. I love relic Olympic white, so it could well happen!!
3. Ah crap. Now I'm starting to think about another Precision.
4. I was going to suggest the ToneHammer as even the 500 is unusually light. The 350 must be tiny! But, if the TC ticks all the right boxes, the Tonehammer might not have enough features for you.
5. I had a flick through in WH Smiths a few days ago, I'd agree, it was pretty bad. Certainly not enough content or interest for me to get my wallet out. Its a shame, especially as there are at least two very good guitar magazines and decent magazines on pretty much everything and anything else.
6.
Just being there is like an attraction, sirens and noises, bright lights etc! Enjoy and congratulations too
This. It's just a great place. Soak it in.
7. Did one gig in London with an originals band, it was a complete waste of time. Supported a popular German band in a very trendy part of London. We thought it would be a great chance and all the right people would be there... Well, no one was there! Actually, there were a few, but they couldn't have cared less. The gig cost us money, and efforts would have been far better spent playing closer to home or expanding our online profile. But, looking back, at least we have done it. It's all experience. Just, for us, wasn't particularly productive.
8. What sort of trades are you after? Other pedals? Markbass Compressore? Cheers.
9. I'm new to the Tonehammer - but am loving it so far. It only has semi-para mids, but; they do a great job. I certainly wouldn't say it is lacking in the high end either. It's probably not as sparkly as some - but that's not my thing anyway.
10.
Hey! Talking about my bass without me? hahaha It's a refinish, made by a car paint shop actually. The bass was originally vintage white. And yeah, it's artificial grass!!! LOL
Cool. To be fair, if anyone's playing could stand out and not let a chrome bass take centre stage; it's this dude.
11.
Fender's success was built on the J Bass, P Bass, Tele, and Stratocaster. They're the recognised 4 main food-groups of Fender. Any company would meddle with that at their own peril. It's a fine line. But Fender have and do make many other instruments. The sane thing for Fender to do, really, is to stop producing other instruments that aren't J/P/T/S.
OK, the car analogy was a mistake! I'm not trying to draw any comparisons between the two brands, other than what you have just said. All I was saying was; to suggest that Fender and Gibson are lazy for relying upon a handful of core products is ridiculous.
12. Tonehammer pedal? I've not used one, so can't reccomend it, but I do have the amp, which I very much like the powerful EQ on. But, might be worth a look?
13.
Well, you mentioned Ford turning out the Focus, Fiesta, and Transit. Maybe you're so young that these have all been made through your entire lifetime, but I can remember the Sierra (a real innovation, not to mention pig-ugly) coming into being - and where is that now? So yes, Ford are making the Focus, but it's not something they've made since the dawn of time. Cars are a poor analogy, as bits of wood with strings on don't become completely superseded.
The Mondeo was it's successor, I think? Anyway, the point I was trying to make was that you can't label a company 'lazy' for releasing the same products for years. Those cars are the staples of Ford in Europe and whilst they release other models, that's their bread and butter. You said it yourself, bits of wood and string don't become superseded, so why mess with a product that has worked for years? Like Ford, Fender has produced MANY other products, but the continued popularity of a couple of models attracts the vast majority of attention. Someone, I don't recall if it was your good self, said why not put a preamp in a Jazz?! Which already happened 20 or 30 years ago. Fender have produced some crazy, weird things as times and fashions changed, but the Standard P and J remained.
14.
TBH, If, as the OP states, the seller is a member on here, I find it quite weird that you're all discussing this in public in the first place.
Glad I'm not alone.
15.
And when will they move on from churning out the Model T?
Not quite sure what point you're trying to make; care to elaborate?
16.
Yeah, he showed up when I was looking through bass covers of Uptown Funk. I dig his tone and feel, thought his was the best version.
Same for me. Also, saw a Paramore cover of his, played with a pick, that is brilliantly played too.
17.
Bwahaha. Fender are just plain lazy by relying on less than five core products for the last fifty or so years. They need a fecking kick in the pants to jimmy them up a bit. Gibson are just as guilty.
Same with Ford, wish they would stop pedalling out all those Focus', Fiestas and Transists
18. Every time I see a pic of one of these Yamaha's I want one a little bit more.
19. But, the fingerprints... *shudders*
20. I started using Fender flats about a year ago, and they still sound great on two P's. They took a good month to break in I reckon.
21. http://m.guitarguitar.co.uk/Product/px-KT174NY10657 Might be worth a look - if it's local to you. The Specials are great and so are the 50s. When I bought my Precision new, it was between the one I got (a US Standard) and a Roadworn. I'd have been happy with either but the shop i bought from had one of each of these that felt like winners. I didn't like the Special I tried - but that was partly because the setup was dreadful. I've owned one since and really liked it. I like the Greasebucket circuitry too, which some don't. I'd just go to the shop and see what you like best, if you go in for a certain instrument and the one in the shop happens to be a lemon you might miss out on an unexpected gem. Also, I don't like the pickups, but the Nate Mendel P is great too, if a little neck heavy. Some lighter tuners and, for me, a different pickup would make them a lightweight and very nice Precision.
22. As a practice amp, this is pretty sweet I reckon. I'd rather have it a touch cheaper and not have the recording interface. As a practice tool, being able to jam wirelessly to Spotify would be great. I can do likewise with my cheap practice amp and an RCA cable, but this is far more attractive and smarter. Having thought about it, and if I could justify the outlay, I'd quite like one, with the wooden font, thanks.
23. Good stuff. Sounds great. I've only played one NM P bass, but it was really nice.
