Never played one, so can't comment on Fodera. But, one the price vs value thing, has anyone ever seen the show 'How it's Made? I remember seeing a few things on there and thinking, 'oh OK, that's why they're so expensive'. The expertise that goes into making some things is probably a large part of what you're paying for, let alone the hundreds of hours of skilled labour and materials.

Depends on budget I suppose, Fender Roadworns are pretty light, add some hipshot tuners and it could be an option.

How did it take you 40 years to buy a jazz, with that being the tone you like most?! Glad you've pulled the trigger and really hope you enjoy it!
See, that is the problem... I'm going to run this with a Ag head and they are both grey/silver so I'm think the grill will have to be the blue/silver cloth.... but that doesn't help with the coverings... I keep pouring over the pics of various cabs....
Well, after all that thought and corcearn about colours clashing I went and got a TH500!! (pictured a few posts above)
Fiesta Red Don't know if they've done a RW P in that colour? But a few more colour choices would be good (personally, I like the colour of my Jazz, and the P bass)
It would probably put some off saving up for a Pino!! I'd buy one for sure.
Looking at a 2x12" modular cab set up to provide flexibility for rehearsals gigs etc. The TKS cabs that I am considering (2 x TKS 112's) would be 104cm high on a base of 38cm x 33cm. They look great, really flexible, get the sound nearer your ears for monitoring on small stages, aid sound dispersion but before going this route I was wondering how stable they are. Would hate to buy a great new amp only to have it topple from over a metre high when someone bumps into it
I have this set up with a TH500 on top, which is unbelievably light, so not sure how it would do with a 20kg amp on top. It's perfectly stable though. It would take a bump to topple it.

Squier Bronco / Dusosonic / Mustang bass project

Mate, nice work. This is brilliant. -
On your last gig, which number went down the best?
M@23 replied to leschirons's topic in General Discussion
Dirty Diana. -
This used to be mine. Whoever buys this will be extremely happy with it, really, if you're looking for a good solid P bass you won't find a better one for anywhere near the price. It is absolutely stunning, to boot. Genuinely gutted that funds are tight and that I can't buy it back. The tort guard is from the Doc too, so needless to say that it is a good one.

I always have two so that I've got a backup. Both Precisions with flats, as that's what I'm into. Would like more options and choice, but not a neccesity.

Do you/your band rehearse with full gigging set-up?
M@23 replied to Lozz196's topic in General Discussion
Hardly ever. My functions band is well set as we gig often and rehearsals are to fine tune small parts or run through new numbers quickly before a gig. My originals band practice to write new parts, and there is full back line supplied. Given that they practice in a huge school and it's a good 5 main walk to the rehearsal room, lugging gear isn't an option. I don't care how bad my sound is at practice, as long as it's audible it will work for what we want. The drummers pretty much use electric kits too so we can keep the levels down. -
Cool. Will watch with interest. I was a massive fan in my younger days, though I only saw them once at Reading 03, Tom's playing was terrible, still loved it though!
-
Sounds like Markbass might be a good bet, you'll probably get on well with that F1 :-)
-
Really surprised to hear this isn't a one off. Some sound clips and settings would be good if anyone is able to? My TH500 is clean until gain or drive hit 2 o'clock. It's never clinical sparkly clean, but isn't driven unless I want it to be.
-
Cheers guys. Spoke to Mark earlier and will speak again Monday.
Jade Pearl Metallic? It'd look nice alongside your TKS cabs :-)
Very nice, I had to google that one, but did have a Strat that colour a few years back! Will Mark do pretty much any colour?!
-
Right,I want in on this. Now, Shoreline Gold as seen and admired above,LPB, Pino clone or other?! With a rosewood board are there any other slightly more unusual colours worth considering?
-
TC Electronic is definately better than Markbass !!
thanks Chrismuzz I'm wondering whether a Markbass head, paired up to a cab from a different manufacturere is a good idea?
Sure they're really nice amps, so through a decent cab will sound great. I actually really like Markbass cabs. -
This sucks. I hate to say it, but I run my gain and drive both at 11 o'clock, maybe gain at 12 and drive at 10 o'clock; or thereabouts and also have a clean tone. Do you boost the EQ loads or run the master really high?
-
If you know the songs, you're set. Just try enjoy the whole experience. No one will notice if you mess up a little!
-
Not sure if had been mentioned, but this is/was a common issue with these amps and if you ping TC's UK service centre an email, they are usually prompt with sending a new set out. Maybe a touch of super glue might help too.

Lovely looking instrument.
I love the deep chunky neck on my 78 Precision, it makes me work harder and I find playing it more enjoyable because of this. I also just love my 78 anyway, I know some aren`t too keen on 70s Fenders but I`m not one of them.
. Me too. I don't own, but have used a 78 quite a bit, with dead rounds, and it plays and sounds great. Its a weighty beast, but is so solidly built and nicely played in.
-
That's the general consensus I think; really great little amps, but reliability is a worry. If you're buying new, might be worth a go. I've not owned one, but have played one and really liked it.
You can be as pedantic as you want about the name of his role based on the specific instrument he's playing - but that won't make him a bass player.
Yes, it will. In fact, it's pretty much definitive.
