1. As new, bar the car fluff in the Velcro! Which will be picked out before posted!! These are super cool little foldable devices, was a great addition to my 102p when I had it. I only used it a couple of times and the cab was sold, so its sat in my wardrobe for a couple of years unused. Asking £20 including postage. Can't upload photos from my phone so will try again later if someone is keen. It is the one with the little picture of Marco that says 'Mark World' though, rather than the one which says 'Markbass'. Matt
2. Super cool funky pedal. I just don't use it. Asking £40 which will include recorded delivery. Rubber feet attached to bottom, pedal is without its original box but condition wise, it is as new. For some reason I can't add Photobucket links from my phone. Will try again later or can do emails if anyone wants a photo.
3. Hi all, Reluctantly i am selling my two P basses, only for the reason that after years of putting it off i am moving to 5 strings. This is the one that i told myself i would never sell and TBH, i will withdraw if no one wants. I spent a long time finding this one. It is the best Fender P i have played, it is just everything they were intended to be. It is as new condition, no scuffs, chips, dents or buckle rash. It weighs bang on 8.5 lbs and was the lightest one i could find at the time and is in the best colour and finish option available!! Ha. I bought it new only a year ago! I have added a bridge cover as you can see and it is strung with Fender 50-100 flats. Also, the rosewood board has a very nice colour to it. TheFender flats are a little brighter than the LaBellas on my other one and the tension isn't as high. This bass seems to work really well with them, as with the tone pot on full it is quite bright and aggressive and tone fully off it is super round and thumpy. It retains this lovely clarity throughout though. Every now and then you get a Fender that is just spot on. It plays, looks and sounds exactly like it should and is a great example of the standard (no pun intended) of what Fender can do. As with my red one, ideally, this would be a cash sale, but i'm open to trade offers for five strings. Given the quality of the SKB cases, i could find out some packaging and do postage as well if needs be. If someone is after two of these, see my other thread for it's red/maple brother. I'll do you a deal for both if you're after a set ;-) Also, looking at the pics, there are a few odd shades or patches, i can assure you it is just glare from the sun. This bass is MINT condition. Edit; as i forgot to mention it comes with SKB moulded case, strap and case candy too. Matt
4. Hi all, Reluctantly i am selling my two P basses, only for the reason that after years of putting it off i am moving to 5 strings. This particular one, i have only owned for a couple of months, it has hardly been played as was bought as a backup. It is in fantastic condition; pretty much 'as new' and you'd have to get your magnifying glass out if you were to find anything. There are no chips, knocks, scrapes or buckle rash. It's a really nice example of a maple neck Precision in a slightly less common colour! It is hard to photograph, but in the right light it is quite sparkly. The neck pocket is really nice and tight and at 9lbs it is a very good weight. The maple fretboard is beautiful and looks to be a really nice bit of maple. It comes with the normal SKB moulded hard case, Fender strap and case candy. This one is strung with LaBella flats, which suit it incredibly well. It has a very authoritative thump to it! I really like these post 2012 models and much prefer the Custom Shop pickup to the pre 2012s. Ideally, this would be a cash sale, but i'm open to trade offers for five strings. Collection from Lymington, Portsmouth or Southampton are doable. Given the quality of the SKB cases, i could find out some packaging and do postage as well if needs be. If someone is after two of these, see my other thread for it's sunburst/rosewood equipped brother. I'll do you a deal for both if you're after a set ;-) Matt
5.
I'm very encouraged with 2xS112's in a practice setting. Lovely precise voicing altho the sound is never harsh or brittle. Plenty of pronounced mids, but sweet and not at all honky .. I'd describe them as forgiving as well...but not overly warm.
Great. What finish did you go for in the end? Are you playing them with the Tonehammer?
6.
I bought it new last year from PMT in Birmingham..... I paid £980 for it. It had been hanging around in the shop for two years... They had forgotten to put it on there web site and never noticed... Know one new it was there, and over time, as the lack of perceived interest continued, they kept lowering the price on it, thinking they had a lemon on their hands..when I first realised it was there, and what it was, the deal was done in 2 minutes..... The original price they had it up for when they got it was £2300. It was literally pushed to the back of the shop, believe it or not with a BB2025X (again not on the web site) which was marked up £1200... (negotiable) I went back a couple of weeks later and the 2025X was sold, awaiting collection. Luckiest bass buy of my life...
I've just turned green reading that! Cracking find. I might give them a bell and ask them to check the back of the stock room again!
7. I did my first gig with the S112s using a five string last night. Having pulled out my first bass - a Crafter fiver, thought I'd give it a go. I've done dozens of gigs with them, but this was the first time I'd played a five through them. I was really pleasantly surprised! Given that this is a £150 bass, and the B string isn't exactly brilliant... Even at gig volume the cabs were punchy, clear and even. I'm borrowing a Sadowsky 5 this weekend and literally can't wait!
8.
I posted this thread 4,weeks ago when I was just getting used to my BB2024X. In that 4 weeks, I have absolutely fallen head over heels for this bass. Yes it's expensive, and for that kind of cash, you really can start being picky about a lot of super quality basses. But this is a the top of my heap at the moment. To put it in context, my 'heap' consists of a Trace Elliot 5 string T bass, Mike Lull 5 string, Wood and Tronics J4. First run Music Man Sabre...and the Yamaha, and it's the only one that's passive, yet at the moment it's getting much more use than the others..... It really is an incredible piece of kit....
Cool. I can't stop looking at these... Did you buy it new, if so, where from?
9. I have a Double Four too. One of my bands has scaled down rehearsals, guitarist uses an acoustic and drummer uses an elec kit. For this the Double Four is perfect and plenty loud enough. It's great. I think I am going to order the IEC equipped bigger PSU for £25 though.
10. Crikey. The dead spot is probably caused by the dust, way up that end. Edited to acknowledge the 'dusty end' jokes have already been made... I have nothing else to add here.
11. I think this is my old one... I want it back. If I had the money, I'd take it in a heartbeat.
12. Yamaha BB2024, still. Only now, it's getting to that point where I'm thinking about what I'd have to sell and spending every spare moment googling them. It's getting serious...
13. I doubt letting him hear a recording will do much. If he doesn't know as he is playing it that he is in the wrong key - it won't dawn on him. Especially if he is a repeat offender! I've been there before, with drummers and guitarists. Both similar circumstances, great guys and good at what they're doing for people that only have a couple of years under their belts, but it is difficult sometimes. Might just be a case persevering - especially as you're enjoying it on the whole.
14. Hate to moan on a beautiful sunny day, but... Did an originals gig for the first time in just over a year; last band on at 10:30, terrible PA, shared backline and most people went home at 10. Reminded me why I joined a functions band in the first place.
15. Another shout for the Corvette. Very comfortable.
16. Without having played the amp, I'd say it's the way it is. I use a line 6 pod x3 as a backup/can't be bothered with a load in rig, and the synth sounds are much the same. Even on the bass presets, I haven't fiddled with them as I wouldn't use them anyway.
17. Ah man, we've been here before, but that was with regards to the RH450. I used to have a Little Mark 3 which was great for the stuff you mentioned, perfectly reliable and a lovely tone, which I thought worked brilliantly with a couple of Bergs. Perhaps a bit over budget, but might be worth keeping an eye out for 2nd hand are Aguilar Tone Hammers and Tecamp Pumas. Oh and Carvin might be worth a look too.
18. I didn't realise you were down south. I'd be all over this if a house buy and baby weren't imminent!! Love my s112 cabs. Best of luck with the sale.
19.
Well I happen to think that Fender basses are over priced firewood and I could take it upon myself to spam the various threads singing their praises with advice to buy a yamaha/ibanez/peavey for a 1/2 the price or less and get a better built better designed instrument, but I dont ... because it would annoy people.
Yet, in making your point managed to do exactly that.
20. I'm surprised they told you the delivery guy had been fired - they should have just said disciplinary action has been taken.
21. I'd love a BB2024. If once pops up used or someone is looking to trade one for a Fender US Standard P, give me a shout!!
22. Funny that the 'Barefaced are louder' arguement comes around on every speaker cab recomendation thread on BC. Firstly, I find it interesting that they apparently eek more volume out of their units than Bergantino/Vanderkley/Aguilar/Anyothertopbrand; and secondly, that people care so much. I can't think of a gig I'd do where a CN212 wouldn't be loud enough. Not trying to ruffle feathers, just an observation.
23.
Ah fair enough, how did that end?
It ended well, in that I got a full refund. But only after travelling the 100 or so miles to the shop as I wasn't getting anywhere with phonecalls. Their argument was that I had invalidated the warranty by taking it to a third party. Even though, a trained eye could tell just by looking that it was a dud and no work had been done. If i hadn't said so, they wouldnt have known. I should have mentioned, this was the 3rd bass they'd sent too, the first two were also faulty! Which is the reason I took it to my tech as I was getting fed up sending the things back. Got my money back and went elsewhere. Since then I've only bought from shops run by actual musicians, not sales people. Hope it works out for you in the end!
24.
I'm gonna wait for a resolution before I start slinging around names!
I wasn't fishing for a name. Merely stating that I've been here before, with a major retailer.
