If advise getting the Markbass stand too with these little 102p cabs.

I had this set up a few years back. Loved it. Punchy, light, loud.

I used the power amp once and that was pretty special, especially for such a little box.

I think even the younguns, if they're not even aware of the songs know of the Beatles as 'special' for what they did.

The Deluxe J5 is cheaper than the US Standard Fenders at the moment. I've not played one and am intrigued by them. But would probably look to Sandberg and Maruszczyk at that price point. I just saw Bass Direct have a nice Sunburst Xotic and a Lull J5 too. My next bass will be an active J5 and at the moment I can't look last Maruszczyk, for the money they look pretty well unbeatable. Given the custom options and that no one seems to say a bad word of them...

[/quote] To be fair, saying 'nobody does everything well', is absolute rubbish! I'm sure what Blue was referring to was that in his own style Macca does everything very well. He is a top musician. Why on earth would he want to play slap bass?! It's irrelevant whether he can or not as he'd have no use for it. Edited to say I'm not against the slappers. Just that, like finger or pick style, some players have no use for it and their ability shouldn't be judged because of that.

I think they have the Marmite factor. I love my Gibson guitar, but have never played a Gibson bass that I really enjoyed playing. They do look great though.

It's worth trying a few and probably not having too many preconceptions about how good it should be dependant on year of manufacture. I've had two '78s and they were so different. One was super aggressive where the other was so warm and hollow sounding. Both weighed an absolute ton too. Neither played as well as my 2012 either and that did a good copy of the sound of the 78s too, dependant on what you did with the tone pot.

Seriously cool. Are these more warm, vintage sounding things? They look like they should pack a bit of old skool thump?

Fusion. Simply, the best gig bag on the market. I had a Protec Contego and it was cool, but the Fusion is better. Not sure if it fits the SKB, but worth checking out.

I've only got experience of my current Sandberg. It's immaculate. But, I've had two experiences of Thomann sending me 'new' basses which are quite obviously damaged.

Yep, I think 30% is quite a common commission charge. Ouch.

See what happens with your replacement. It doesn't really do zingy highs. What bass and strings do you play, does your cab have tweeters?

Neotech Mega for me too. Nice and padded and comfortable but light too. I tried a Sandberg Flex Strap which had more padding than a 2 seater sofa, but was so stiff and bulky.

I know what You mean. One of my old US Precision sounded particularly dull around the 7th fret E string. I assumed it was the stings at the time.

He said that not all foam plugs are created equally, but on the whole, they offer better protection than the non custom Christmas tree types. At least they properly fill the ear canal, which the off the shelf ones don't. Only problem is it sounds like your playing under water!

Maplin. One fits my Tonehammer 500 like it was made for it. They're pretty good quality for the price too. Nothing like Peli or proper expensive case, but good enough of you don't plan on dropping it from a height!

I have a Matsumoku 1986 Rainbow II semi acoustic 6 string, it is better than any Gibson 335 I've owned or played. This is the top spec model, beautiful flame maple cap on mahogany and exquisitely built. Can't speak for the basses, having never had one. But, this is a top quality guitar.
