1. I misunderstood the OP title at first. You don't have to practice. Happy Birthday! Fixed?
2.
Bands and groups do evolve in directions that don't suit everyone over time , but openess is the key to making decisions and being fair and honest about it , rehearsing new members behind your back is clearly wrong
+1 Very crappy behaviour on the part of your former bandmates. There's no call for that.
3.
...trying to play it on upright whilst singing (and maybe ending at the same pitch I started ).
You're probably already familiar this, but just in case you aren't, it's superb. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=zQmhQyCMvig
4.
It would drive you nuts if you played with a drummer who didn't use cases? I just don't get it! I turn up early, I'm set up in 10 minutes, I have spare skins and sticks, all my gear is in good nick (apart from the floor tom leg I need to fix before the weekend!!!) and I don't f*** up. The cases I do use are always out of the way. I just don't get the problem. I gigged for years without cases, and cases are not cheap!
Aaah, that changes everything. Maybe I should have been more specific. All the other attributes you mention (being punctual, decent gear etc.) are, in my experience, abscent from those drummers without cases. Those I've run into without cases were slovenly in all other departments, which contributed to an all-round lack of professionalism. The specific issue of the cases wasn't meant. Especially not when you're punctual, have decent gear, clear cases away etc. etc. No offence intended ๐Ÿ˜Š
5.
I've been on the other end of this as a drummer - the band demanded that I buy cases to transport my drums in, because "it looks unprofessional when you walk into a venue without them in cases". Are any of you that anal?
Yes, I am. That would drive me nuts, but ultimately it's none of my business.
6. Oh, don't get me started. Gearwise, everyone's pretty cool, but punctuality and our drummer are, at best, vaguely acquainted. Always about 10 minutes after "at the last minute" and then super relaxed while I'm champing at the bit. Not 10 minutes late mind, buty 10 minutes after all other deadlines have run out. I've realised, for sanity and friendship's sake to either accept it or have a stomach-ulcer. Yes there are other very good drummers who sub for him and who don't stress me out, but he's got THAT groove. Plus I work with him in other contexts where I'm not the boss and we still have to fet along. It's a choice, right? Dress issues, I sorted out by making everyone buy their costumes. It's a 70s Disco act. What state their costumes are in is another matter, but I simply can't micromanage everything.
7. Great! And there was I, GAS free for 5 seconds. I hope your proud of yourself ๐Ÿ™„.
8. The OP title is a bit like saying, "Gravity is back!"
9.
How about the Fender logo, just don't try to sell yourself as s real one though
How about a R###enfaker logo and see, after the legal battle, who gets custody of your arm ๐Ÿ˜
10. Bwahhhh-hah-hahhh-hahhhhh!!!
11. Hmmmm...... you could be right there.
12.
Do you need somewhere to sleep??
I had no idea that BC was THAT kind of forum ๐Ÿ˜ฏ
13. Only just spottef this thread. Yayyy, well chuffed you've hung on to this. It's got "keeper" written all over it.
14. I do hope the fitted-case is included.
15. But wouldn't the string-slots then be facing the wrong way?
16. Yep, walk away. Anyone that far below the level of basic requirements will, unfortunately, almost always need a long time in order to catch up. Plus, the experience, as unpleasant as it may be, may give the drummer the impulse to address the issue i.e. you are actually doing them a favour.
17. Yummedy-yum-yum!
18. Just look at that smile! A very cool life to have lead.
19.
... I have enough P Basses already!
!
20.
What about putting flatwounds on it?
Not a bad idea, actually. I've been meaning to take the plunge with flats on a 5-string for a while now.
21.
Yup. Basschat definitely needs a fetishists section.
Sorry, but what do you think basschat already is? ๐Ÿ˜‰
22. Great, thanks very much for your help ikay.
23. So I've got an Indonesian 55-02 which I always play in passive mode. It sounds fine, but is then always wide open on the highs. I can control it on the amp, but some sound guys just leave it very trebley out front. What I'd like is to have is a passive tone control. Any suggestions? I am super un-techy and would have to get my guitar guy to do it. Forgive me if there's a dead obvious solution that I'm overlooking.
24. Wow, that was a quick turnaround, but I guess 5 minutes in the hand and you already know, right? I must admit this looks very nice indeed and the shallow neck would actually suit me better..... .......aaaaahhhh, nooooooooo, run away!
