1. I find that simpler driving grooves with space between the notes work better. Outdoors it's not always easy to control the sound and what the audience are hearing (e.g. if the sound us echoey or mushy), so the more complicated the rhythms are, the less likely they are to 'reach' the audience.
2. If you allow 4 notes. The same 4 (depending on how divide the measure) can be The Addams Family Theme or Great Balls of Fire.
3. OK. the pick is obvious, but oh so funky... http://youtu.be/Ll3uipTO-4A
4. You're welcome chief!
5. That's yer man Thundercat. See other thread in this forum http://basschat.co.uk/topic/286717-thundercat-anyone/page__fromsearch__1

7.
Sanborn and Hiram Bullock...Just great.
Omar Hakim lending a hand too, there.
8. Perfect for those rained-out summer open-air gigs.
9.
A true pioneer, and funny as he'll. Blue
Absolutely on both counts. I didn't know just how funny he was till I saw a clip from the talk-radio show he used to do. it was from the excellent documentary "Only the Strong Survive", which unfortunately went a little under the radar as it was released in the same year as that other great soul documentary, "Standing in the Shadows of Motown".
10.
I hadn't heard of him until about a year ago. Since then mainly through his work with Kendrick Lamar, Flying Lotus & Kamasi Washington he's become one of my most listened to bass players. I've still not made up my mind on his solo stuff, it's definitely very interesting, but I'm not sure how much I actually like it, though Apocalypse is definitely a more accessible album to me than Golden Age of the Apocalypse.(His first couple of albums have confusingly similar names).
I will definitely check out those other artists. Thanks for the tip.
11. This was new to me. A really odd and interesting combination. http://youtu.be/Buxtt8unaCo
12. So, this is what I originally attempted (failing miserably) to post at the top of this thread.

14.
Something has been chewing on the headstock?
Prospective buyers, checking it's not counterfeit?
15. Clearly it's your wife's fault. There, all better now?
16.

Many thanks for the explanation Dad.
17. Much obliged Dad. Is the 'share' text something other than the normal link, because I tried that without the 's' in 'https', but it didn't work.
18. You naughty, naughty bassplayer, you.
19. This vid will shed some light on it. An interview at the soundcheck with the man himself. I tried a redhead back in the early nineties. A fabulous sound, but much heavier than an extremely heavy, heavy thing.... on one if its heavier days. http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=is0SGbUTh20 If someone can make this embed work, I'd be very grateful.
20. It looks like a guitar built for Prince by the telly-tubbies, but in the right context (something psychedelic) could be quite cool.
21.
Beautiful, don't you think?? Plays like a dream (neck has a bit more meat than I'm used to but not a problem - we will adapt). I was playing it earlier - hard to decide which is my favourite tone. Time on my hands tomorrow to experiment and decide. Nice photos...but they compare to what it looks like in the flesh. I almost feel sorry for the rest of you.
Soundclip soon pleeeeeeease!
22. NEXT build!!!! You don't hang about, do you? ๐Ÿ˜€
23.
Just different factors of an instruments flexibility. Sometimes you'll want an active sound and sometimes you'll want a passive sound. One's neither better or worse than the other, just different.
That sums it up nicely, I'd say.
24.
Maybe they`ll be like Benjamin Button and get newer looking, until finally completely pristine.
But then all that relic-ing will have been a waste of money......๐Ÿ˜ฎ.....surely not ๐Ÿ™„
25.
You can always get a re-fin.....๐Ÿ‘
๐Ÿ˜„๐Ÿ˜„๐Ÿ˜„๐Ÿ˜„๐Ÿ˜„
