2. Putting the monstrous chops aside (they are irrelevant to this thread IMO) Richard Bona is very funny and has a great rapport with the audience.
3.
Who T F made Leo the boss of bass anyway?
Blasphemy! 😛
4. We were once asked by the client at a gala if we knew any Turkish songs. 😳
5.
There was a time in the 80s when there was a flurry of hyper-twee 'indie' pop made by atrocious bands like Prefab Sprout, Fairground Attraction, The Bluebells and Deacon Blue. Among the most irksome pieces of c@ck are .. Sprout's one that has the line 'hot dogs, jumping frogs, Albuquerque'. Perfect, sung by that woman who looks like a librarian Real Gone Kid..plinky keyboards, terrible girly background vocals, cheesy strings (not the kids snackfood) Young At Heart..I mean this band named themselves after a flower and the song has a bloody fiddle solo Come on Eileen ..as does this woeful karaoke singalong
I like Prefab Sprout. When Love Breaks Down is a cracking song. Still, horses for courses, eh?
6. This thing actually gives me the horn!
7. I loved that, thanks for posting. His vocal reminds me a bit of this... http://youtu.be/cXoaupox2IA
8.
A few years ago I reluctantly went to see the Mikado with my wife as a friend of hers was in it. Rather unexpectedly I really enjoyed it and we go to see the annual show by the same G&S group every year now. She doesn't drag me along to the ballet though, she takes our daughters to that as they all dance. When I first met her she used to love coming to my gigs in the soul band. She wasn't so keen on the rock bands I've been in and really doesn't like my current jazz band. Perhaps I'll join a band in future that she likes again, who knows?
G&S tribute act? ....coat.
9.
I arranged to take Mrs B out to dinner a few weeks ago. Two days before an offer of a dep came through at a major jazz festival with a very good band. I took the Mrs out. I'm no fool.
Hear the man! That's deep wisdom right there.
10.
My wife wanted to go to a Westlife gig at the NEC. I bought 2 tickets and told her too take her mate. There was no chance I would go to that. I went to Lionel Richie though. I didn`t think I would enjoy it, but he was immense. Great bit of banter, and you could tell he is a seasoned professional
Plua a killer bassplayer in Ethan Farmer.
11. Aaaah! Thanks for that.
12. Aaaah! Thanks for that. I
13. Is the Roland GK-3B any good? It looks OK in the demos and is certainly more affordable.
14. I wasn't specifically aware of their drummer but Can were always a super creative band. Sorry to hear that.
15.
It is even worse, it seems to be relying on the crowd looking at the girls and ignoring the utter pap being played. Very sad.
Girls? I can't say I noticed.
16. If it were playable and I had the dosh to spare, I'd buy it just to mess with other bassplayers' heads 😄
17. Nice. Very maddening intro, tasty bass fillness with (typical on live stuff) two guitarists on camera 'cos the bass player's tucked away at the back where no one can see him 🙄😄😄
18. For taking itself wayyy too seriously and getting right on my 'nads Music (Was My First Love) by John Miles is pretty much THE yardstick.
19. I haven't bought from them personally, but they have a good reputation here in Germany.
20. In band situations, there is a limit to how loud I feel I should be. The actual volume varies of course depending on the situation, indoor/outdoor, size of stage/venue, music genre etc. If the others are so loud that my volume is insufficient, I actually turn down a bit. When they complain, I suggest that they try turning down a bit. I adamantly refuse to partake in an onstage volume battle.
21. 62 quid, someone got a bargain. You by any chance?
22.
Hate to be the party pooper but didn't the original cavern shut down years ago and this one is just a tourist attraction?
Strictly speaking yes. The original was knocked down ages ago and made into a car park. The current one is the near the old site (maybe even next door?)and hence the same style of archictecture. So, it does look very much like the original.
23.
I remember standing in the old Wembley Stadium, watching Simon and Garfunkel playing "Sound of Silence". Man, when that dark day comes that we say our fond farewell to Mr Simon. I know I'm going to cry buckets for someone I never met, for the first time in my life. Assuming I'm fortunate enough to still be here. (Note to self: stop being sloppy!! Pull yourself together, man!)
Was that by any chance in 81/82? The same tour as the Concert in Central Park album? If so, I was there too. What a night. I saw him about 5 years ago, just as he'd turned 70, I think. Still very excellent.
24. I love my Sire V7 but would live it more with jumbo frets instead of those skinny little ones it has.
25. And here's to many more happy years. You lucky man 😄
