1.
Have a listen to this guy,if you've not already heard of him.Him and his bassist do acoustic covers of nearly everything. He has one of the best voices I've heard in years. This is a great cover of Toto's 'Africa' https://www.youtube....h?v=MLrC7e3vSv8
Wow, what a voice, and the bass-player's no slouch on backing-vocals either. I sense many lost hours of you-tubing headed my way. Thanks for that 😉
 2. Sorry I can't be there. Have a wonderful time and all the very best. I hope you all have a blast.
 3. This tune isn't a typical blues, but it's one of my favourite bass solos, played by the very excellent Dave Bronze with Eric Bibb. The bass solo starts around 3:15. http://youtu.be/uwSbiWkY15I
 4.
Back on topic: fans of Donald Fagan might also be fans of Rosie Vela, whose 1986 album 'Zazu' sounds like 'The Nightfly' but with a female singer.
Ooh, now you've gotten me all curious.
 5.

. I thank you! I'm here all week, try the fish.
 6. One of my favourite albums, I've always found it magical when listened to at night, but much less so in the daytime. Not entirely surprising given the late night radio theme but interesting nontheless.
 7.
In the Talkbass thread - linked above. The rest of it isn't anywhere near as interesting, although AFAICS the drummer appears to play standing up behind a conventional kit.
Yep, that's his signature Ting.
 8.
Maybe I should know but who is that
It's Rodrigo Gonzalez from the German band "Die Ärzte" - (the Doctors). ....they are known for having a sense of humour...
 9. Upon closer inspection, that appears to be a huge stack caught midway through its collapse onto the bass-player.
 10.
very clever we jammed with acoustics and a cajon last night, no buggery at all
Oh come onnnnnn, not even a little?
 11. Great to hear from him again. Thanks for posting.
 12.
Are you all watching on PCs or something? It's not available to me.
Couldn't see number 1 (only number 2) on my iphone. Could see both fine on my computer at home.
 13.
I look forward to playing the same venue then and being out of pocket.
Did you the read the WHOLE OP? "I've since learnt that last night's manageress (and her co-manageress) left last night, it was their last night before a new landlord takes over today." i.e. the place is now under new management who may behave completely honorably. Innocent until proved guilty and all that.
 14.
I've blown chunks
Most obliging, I hope chunks enjoyed it.
 15.
Fixed.
Many thanks.
 16. I've never understood the appeal of Rick's. I'd love to see this guy in a round-table discussion with John Hall.
 17. I've told this story on here before, but hey-ho. I saw Paul Simon live a couple of years ago. When it came to the famous bass-fill Bakithi Kumalo, clearly asleep at the wheel, utterly ballsed it up. He and the whole band just roared laughing and carried on. Now that's the spirit. Yes we're professionals and we want to do our best, but we're also human and nobody dies if there's the occasional cock-up.
 18. Why oh why must you own all the basses I want? 😢
 19. Larry Graham type sexiness type bump.
 20. It reminds me of that quote from Jurassic Park, "Your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn’t stop to think if they should."
 21. Is there still time to photograph yourself mooning and leave a copy at the site where they stashed the cabs?
 22.
Mrs GibsonBass supports what I do but isn't particularly interested. It's just not her thing. She comes to the occasional gig if possible and I'm cool with that; there's little point in her coming to see something that she doesn't enjoy. I can count on one hand the amount of times she has come to either a band or a solo gig. It suits me because I kind of feel responsible for her when I'd rather concentrate on what I'm doing than making sure she's ok.
My wife is the same and my attitude to her being there is like yours. I've no specific objection, but would rather concentrate on my gig.
 23.
25,000 topics and we still don't know what bass is best for metal!?!
Thank God. If we did get a definitive answer, what would we do then?
 24. All the best for a good recovery and damn your eyes for giving me rhythmstick to learn!
 25. His sweet, falsetto singing is also very beautiful. I saw him with Zawinul Syndicate and it brought me close to tears.
