1. Stop it. I like it! Incidentally, think dv247 still have some Gibson offers on.
2. "...cool ammo belt..." What rot.
3. My first was a purpley red Avon EB0 copy, though I can't remember how I acquired it (1977ish). It was fun but had rather odd build quality, especially in the bridge department. This was traded against a very "well used" Musicmaster from a second hand shop somewhere in Cardiff. I liked it, though the fretwork needed fettling. This went a couple of years later post University and wasn't replaced until 2008 with the arrival of the MIM Precision! I was happy with one bass...until I came to this place
4. I had a Musicmaster back in the 70s, it had a mahoosive oblong case which I think (I've had a few sleeps since then) was a Fender case. This one on ebay looks very odd...
5. This makes me feel much better...when you are mid set, about to start the next song and your mind goes blank ("what do we start on?)...or worse, mid song, completely in the groove without thinking and then you regain consciousness and it all goes to the proverbial.
6.
Sending that to our drummer & guitarist.
This
7. "After further research found to be a rare , highly collectable model." Now starting at £160.
8. One of our singers asked for this to go on the setlist http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kjRo_CHSdt0
9.
I finally bowed to pressure from the offspring and painted the guard white. Technically it's 'Royal Ivory', but I think 'white' covers it. I know more people expressed a preference for gold, but I have to live with the great moaning git, so here it is. I think it's not half bad actually... to be more 'authentic' it would need to be a two-tone burst, not a three-tone. And have a two-saddle through-body bridge. And the horn shape is too pointed... and on and on. But I'm hoping it's going to be enough to stem the 50s P-GAS I've been suffering from. Here's the previous gold version, for an easy comparison: I think they both have their merits. Also it was cloudy today, so the white guard pic is a much more accurate real-world colour representation. The pics in full sunlight are very lush - but in reality the bass just isn't that bright.
The gold PG is nice, the white is lush IMHO - nice work that man! Oh and kudos to young Master Discreet
10.
UPDATE: Ahem... Long story short, I used an existing FL Studio file for the HB demo to save time and didn't notice there was an EQ plugin on the bass channel... which I have now removed. Here's the updated audio file for anyone who's interested... https://www.mediafir...uo7r65oi7ysll7e I've made it a .wav file as SoundCloud compresses everything to a 128kbps .mp3 file... I think you'd have to agree it's a lot smoother and less 'grainy'. It could even be less 'woolly', who knows..? Point is, the Wilkinson pickup is perfectly adequate in my opinion, so if you were thinking about buying a HB PB-50 you shouldn't have to factor in the cost of an upgrade pickup. In theory you don't need to spend any money on it at all if roundwounds are your thing. Just a little time setting up and a bit of a fettle if you're that way inclined... bargain!
Sounds great...nice playing too.
11. How long by Ace. Saw them as bottom of the bill on a pub rock special at Guildford Civic Hall below Bees Make Honey, Dr Feelgood and Charlie and the Wide Boys. A few later weeks later they were on TOTP.
12. Led Zep May 1975 as mentioned above at Earls Court. Really poor acoustics combined with the initial salvo of noise meant I no idea what the opening number was. I've Blue Oyster Cult several times over the years - never struck me as that loud.
13. I do like the Non Reverse: sort of endearingly wonky looking
14. Very cool! Any neck divage from the longer neck?
15. Never was a thread more aptly named. That fretboard though...
16. Classic IV is probably the nicest, they occasionally come up reduced on G4M or DV247. The Pro IV (the active one) can be had cheaply from G4M if you get yourself an account and then get VIP status (buy some strings etc). A natural one is on at £229 at the moment; with no account, its £399. You might have to sort noisy electrics tho... 17. Didn't actually sell my Strat to Mike, but he facilitated the sale to his mate (Mick) and accompanied him over to mine. Good man and thanks!
