1. Well after much heeing, hawing and general all purpose procrastinating, I've gone and bought myself a Gibson Thunderbird courtesy of the estimable DatonaRik. It's a lovely looking beastie, nicely put together but with a couple of minor dings. Think I'm going to take the string height down a tad and maybe, swap the bridge out for a Hiptone. The 3 point is quite a weird thing to behold if you're used to a BBOT, but I've not had the chance to get tee'd off with it yet . Trouble is that'll start the debate around "shall I stay black or go chrome?" I'm liking the tone on this, especially with the bridge pup uppermost as it were, but will have to do a bit of EQing, especially in a band context. It's comfortable to play, especially sitting down and the neck dive is minimal and therefore miles better in that regard than certain other basses! I got the chance to A/B one of these against the Epi Classic Pro before Christmas. Build quality was very good on the Epi but it was noticeably heavier and darker sounding. So, in the knowledge of The Law and given the sun has been out today, here's some pictures of the Bird... 2. I bought one of these from a second hand shop in Cardiff in the late 70's - in this colour but a white pg I think. It was "well used" but great fun.
3. Met up with Rik last night to relieve him of his very nice Gibson Thunderbird. Rik has been great to deal with, great comms and very solicitous. We spent a while talking bass and assorted other stuff over drinks on Rik. A prince among men who I'd be happy to deal with again. Cheers!
4. Been a long wait Sean, but good luck with this. I can't wait, so goodness knows how you feel about it!
5. Y'know, I think you've got the complete set there...
6. Get Carter by Roy Budd and +1 for John Barry's work
7. Just had the pleasure of selling Paul my Dano Longhorn. He's been a great bloke to deal with, good comms and sense of humour with great advice for a first time seller and "courierer". I wouldn't hesitate in buying from or selling to Paul again. Enjoy that Dano Paul...and thanks!
8. I heard somewhere touch screens rely on the moisture in your skin to work, I hadn't thought about callouses, but I guess they could be problematic. Mrs H struggles with her phone as she has dry skin (not callouses), but manages with a stylus (about £8 from Carhousewarephone).
9. Bought a set of Roto flats from Lozz. He communicated very well and posted them out promptly and securely. Top bloke and would to deal with again. Thanks Lozz. Rod
10. From Sultans of Swing to Ace of Spades at the flick of a (5 position) switch...Bump!!

12.
Technically, this thread is "Bassess In/Basses Out 2014...", so how could your In/Out possibly change?!

Yeah!

Maybe the first purchase made in 2015 was a plutonium fuelled Delorian?
Could be one thing I haven't leaned is how to multiquote... Anyhoo, seeing as I'm a third of the way through a Back to the Future box set fest given to my oldest for Christmas, I plead the influence of an anomaly in the space/time continuum. I'll let you know the results of impending changes in July 2013
13. The clearout continues... Here for sale is my Squier Fat Strat in metallic black, crafted in China in 2004. It is a very nice piece of kit, good clean tones from the single coils and crunch from the bridge HB. There are some pick scratches, more like marks really, on the pick guard and some surface scratches on the front of the guitar, but I couldn't get anything to show in the photos. It comes with a fairly nondescript gig bag, but it does the job. I'd prefer pick up from DN14 (J37 0n the M62), but could arrange postage if required. Photos below...
14. I'm selling my Dano Longhorn as I've decided that the shape combined with the scale is too weird for me! It is very light (2.5kg or 5.5lbs) thanks to the masonite body, short scale, skinny headstock and tiny guitar tuners. It sounds nice and warm and thumpy with the rounds it has on and would probably benefit from a set of Labellas to improve the overall grooviness. It's in reasonable nick but there's a bit of mojo, particularly down by the jack where the paint has flaked. The photos below should show this. No idea about the provenance - I bought from a second hand shop in York - but I'm assuming it is one of the Korean reissues rather than the latest Chinese ones. It comes with a hard case which looks like it was designed for a P bass (!) - it's a bit tatty and unlockable, but provides some protection. I'd prefer collection from DN14 (J37 on the M62), but could arrange postage if required at cost. http://i1050.photobu...zpsc7685540.jpg http://i1050.photobu...zpsbbe21226.jpg http://i1050.photobu...zps77a6de79.jpg http://i1050.photobu...zpsa18bf1e4.jpg http://i1050.photobu...zpsf67fad7d.jpg http://i1050.photobu...zps7c05efeb.jpg http://i1050.photobu...zps9b194206.jpg
15. In - nowt (that could change) Out - nowt (that's about to change) Procrastinated over buying a Gibson Thunderbird at a very reasonable price...and lost it. My band parted with our old drummer (nice guy, couldn't keep time, very very loud leading to an arms race on stage to compensate) and found a new one (nice guy, keeps time, real good handle on the groove) who is worth his weight.
