    Like I said, don't be put off by the low prices. I've fitted their J and P pickups, also a number of the guitar variants and they've all been exceptionally good. Maybe the Neo ones are being phased out, I don't know. Probably worth contacting them. As to how do they compare. I thought the Neo's seemed more powerful but with no harshness. Sorry that's not the best of descriptions . Nowt wrong with the ceramics though.

    Entwistle Jazz pickups are my choice, particularly the neo ones. When I first saw the price, I thought they couldn't possibly any good, being that they seemed so cheap, compared to others. I was wrong. I've fitted a couple of sets in recent times on customers basses and they were delighted with the result.

    I've shielded many instruments, using Copper tape. I haven't resorted to spot soldering the joins as a check with a multimeter has always shown continuity. Job done.

    Price dropped to £395. Now £375 I must stop buying guitars Anyway, this is a nice early example of a Tribute Asat, equipped with Leo's very powerful MFD pick ups. Very good condition, with one dink to the top horn and one on the back of the neck (see pics). Everything works as it should and the weight is just over 8lb. I've given it a proper clean , set up and a new set of D'Addarios. Decent hard case included. Price is £ 425 now £375. Collection preferred but can courier for around £20 (mainland only)

    I don't know the weight of Lozz's one that I worked on but I do remember thinking that it was a nice light one and that it would suit me for gigging, I would guess at around 9lbs.

    Skank's advice is good Lozz. When you come over to collect your P bass, I can show you the stuff that I use, brings frets up a treat.

    Just cheap little pots and the thinnest of wire. It all worked but had become crackly so I was in there cleaning the pots with switch cleaner. I'm not saying that it's an absolutely necessary upgrade but it is one that I would certainly do, if I were planning on gigging with it. I've worked on quite a few Epiphone guitars and basses, the electrics have been the weak point and the main reason that they have ended up on my bench.

    I worked on one of these a few weeks back, once it was set up properly it was loverly Fretwork was good and hardware all worked. The only thing that let it down for me was the electronics, if it were mine I would have been swapping out the pots and wiring. Hope you have a great evening, getting to know it.

    I've had plenty of Affinity guitars and basses on my work bench and with a decent set up and fret work, they've all been perfectly playable instruments. Recently treated myself to an Affinity Strat gave it a proper set up and changed out the cheap single ply guard, it looks, sounds and feels great.

    From the Jam were playing last night at a Festival close to mac towers Had the pleasure of listening from my garden. His playing and tone sounded so good. Sounded like a Ric, although I think these days he plays a P bass. Anyway, it was a great sound, every note could be heard perfectly and I could enjoy a cuppa sat in a comfy chair, just the way music should be enjoyed

    When I owned a VM, I upgraded to a set of Wizard Pickups, they gave it what I wanted. If I were going down the pick up upgrade route these days, I would be using Entwistle pickups. Really impressive and for not much dosh.

    For the last four or five years, I've been using the rubber grolsh type washers, at a cost of a few pence. So far, no problems and no signs of wear, after a few hundred gigs.

    I've installed quite a few different Entwistle pick ups in customer's guitars and basses and have been impressed with all of them. The Neo Jazz bass ones being a particular favourite. Their Smooth track pots are also a great upgrade.
