  1. Sounds like you've done a thorough job there
  2. Have to agree with this. For those of us adjusting/setting up instruments on a daily basis it would be ridiculous to do an 1/8th turn and then wait a day before another 1/8th turn.
  3. My loons were a 26" waist and a 32" flair
  4. Cool looking pair of P's
  5. If the amp has pre amp valves, I would suspect them. Also check that the fan is running and is not clogged with dust\debris.
  6. What a looker, you did well to find that one.
  7. Welcome to the forum. That is some special collection you have there
  8. If it's tight enough and holds, then that's the best option. If it does need adhesive, I would avoid superglue and go with a wood glue, such as tite bond.
  9. I recently had to replace the truss rod on a Warwick, a so called guitar tech had completely messed it up, sheared the nut and compressed some wood It was a challenging job and not one I want to be doing again anytime soon.
  10. I would probably go with 45-105, because I've played everything from heavy Rock to pop and soul on them. It's important that the instrument is set up properly and also that you know how to get the best out of your amp/cab.
  11. Nice job.
  12. That is one spectacular looking bass
  13. Chuffed for you
  14. These days I don't often suffer the sweaty hand thing but have done in the past. Baby talc rubbed liberally over my sweaty mitts helped.
  15. I would start with the simpler stuff, which would be the switch selector. If the soldering looks good, then get some switch cleaner sprayed on to the contacts. Move on to all the other soldered connections and check that they are sound. Check for continuity from the battery. You might have to then look to the circuit board and if you know how, check the components. Good luck, looks like an interesting project.
  16. How sad
  17. He did retire but I think someone else has carried on where he left off, perhaps with a name change. Damn it, I can't recall the name though
  18. That's a good looker and some lovely grain
  19. Like I said, don't be put off by the low prices. I've fitted their J and P pickups, also a number of the guitar variants and they've all been exceptionally good. Maybe the Neo ones are being phased out, I don't know. Probably worth contacting them. As to how do they compare. I thought the Neo's seemed more powerful but with no harshness. Sorry that's not the best of descriptions . Nowt wrong with the ceramics though.
  20. Entwistle Jazz pickups are my choice, particularly the neo ones. When I first saw the price, I thought they couldn't possibly any good, being that they seemed so cheap, compared to others. I was wrong. I've fitted a couple of sets in recent times on customers basses and they were delighted with the result.
  21. I've shielded many instruments, using Copper tape. I haven't resorted to spot soldering the joins as a check with a multimeter has always shown continuity. Job done.
  22. Well spotted though Lozz, hopefully the next one will be just right.
  23. So sad to read this.
  24. Price dropped to £395. Now £375 I must stop buying guitars Anyway, this is a nice early example of a Tribute Asat, equipped with Leo's very powerful MFD pick ups. Very good condition, with one dink to the top horn and one on the back of the neck (see pics). Everything works as it should and the weight is just over 8lb. I've given it a proper clean , set up and a new set of D'Addarios. Decent hard case included. Price is £ 425 now £375. Collection preferred but can courier for around £20 (mainland only)
