  1. I'm in Herts. P.m. me if you would like to discuss.
  2. Well done for having the bottle to do it.
  3. I'm in Herts but that's a bit of a trek for you.
  4. My daughter has the same bass and I have to say that it sounds great with the standard pick ups. I was at a battle of the bands type event when she was on bass and it was the only bass that could be heard clearly. It is all stock but I have set it up for her and would happily gig it myself. So, I'm guessing it's likely to be a set up issue with your one. I would advise in the first instance, getting it set up properly and at the same time get those pick up springs sorted out. If it's still not to your liking, then would be the time to consider replacement pick ups.
  5. Going to have to dig out my old vinyl BW albums.
  6. First off, when you say it's one high fret, is it a fret that has visibly lifted slightly i.e. you can see a little gap between it and the fret board? If you can't actually see it with the naked eye, you can check by attempting to slide a thin piece of paper in there. Assuming there is a gap, then a smart tap with a small hammer will probably be all that's needed. If a levelling is required and it is only one fret, then a sharpie pen, sand paper, emery board (nail file), 120, 240, 320 and 400 grit paper, masking tape, should be all you need. Drop me a pm if you want any DIY instructions.
  7. Hope it's a good and successful day for all concerned
  8. First off, check to see that the E is sitting correctly in the nut slot and on the saddle. If not then get that sorted, if you can do it yourself great, if not, someone who can. Don't think you need to worry about neck issues by going up to a 100 gauge, although I can't imagine that it will solve the issue that you are concerned about.
  9. Have to agree with this. For those of us adjusting/setting up instruments on a daily basis it would be ridiculous to do an 1/8th turn and then wait a day before another 1/8th turn.
  10. My loons were a 26" waist and a 32" flair
  11. Cool looking pair of P's
  12. If the amp has pre amp valves, I would suspect them. Also check that the fan is running and is not clogged with dust\debris.
  13. What a looker, you did well to find that one.
  14. Welcome to the forum. That is some special collection you have there
  15. If it's tight enough and holds, then that's the best option. If it does need adhesive, I would avoid superglue and go with a wood glue, such as tite bond.
  16. I recently had to replace the truss rod on a Warwick, a so called guitar tech had completely messed it up, sheared the nut and compressed some wood It was a challenging job and not one I want to be doing again anytime soon.
  17. I would probably go with 45-105, because I've played everything from heavy Rock to pop and soul on them. It's important that the instrument is set up properly and also that you know how to get the best out of your amp/cab.
  18. That is one spectacular looking bass
  19. These days I don't often suffer the sweaty hand thing but have done in the past. Baby talc rubbed liberally over my sweaty mitts helped.
  20. I would start with the simpler stuff, which would be the switch selector. If the soldering looks good, then get some switch cleaner sprayed on to the contacts. Move on to all the other soldered connections and check that they are sound. Check for continuity from the battery. You might have to then look to the circuit board and if you know how, check the components. Good luck, looks like an interesting project.
