1.
Wow!? Really? Nice work matey. It's a truly lovely bass that one, I think you'll be VERY happy with it Eude
Thanks dude, it's all paid for now, so Alan's just giving it a once over before bundling it up so send down to me!
2. I might have almost concluded the deal for another ACG I just 'happened' to be browsing Alan's 'available now' pages when I spotted this beauty! (I'll do my own photos when it arrives next week!) http://www.acguitars...k/Available/46/ Tasmanian Burl Myrtle top with 4mm Sycamore accent and American Cherry chambered body. 5 piece Maple/Bubinga neck with Ebony fingerboard with Maple fret lines. 24 fret / 33" scale / zero radius. Two ACG FB Humbuckers in to an ACG EQ03 4K. Low battery indicator. Satin finish.
3. Noah just bought my Geddy (modified by BassDoc) fretless, super easy transaction, he did exactly what he said he would (and when!), excellent chap, great comms. Thanks buddy!
4. duplicate thread please delete...
5.
Having a quiet day at work ..thought id have a count up of bass's purchased on a wim offline!! 31 in 6 years:( ..the worst must have been a hagstrom beluga in white...I traded that monster back in 2010 to pmt in Norwich and it's still there..anyone agree or disagree or can better..for uglyness..what was I thinking...
Yep, still listed! http://www.pmtonline.co.uk/px-hagstrom-beluga-3-bass-white.html The most hideous looking bass I ever bought was probably a Rickenbacker 4001
6. This rig is super bargainous! The head is the most noise you can make for this small an amount of brass, I got one identical recently and it's taken my head off at my usual 'set it all to 12 oclock, the master on 3 and play'! It feels seriously loud and full!!
7. I concur, just sold mine for £400 (excluding shipping) on here the other day
8. [s]FS my Genz Shuttle 9.0, like the 6.0 but more! More power, more bottom, sparkly valve pre and umpy digital power amp! Condition is excellent, there are a couple of minor scuffs on the underside from a cab handle, other than that it's spot on! It's done a couple of gigs with me but has never been pushed over half power with all eq set flat! Reason for sale is I find my acoustic image focus 2 suits my acg better and this now won't get used. Price is for collection and includes the genz bag I got with it. 9. Alan just hand delivered my new s12t from Kent to Sheffield despite the snow! The man may be insane but he is the highest quality of insane! Above and beyond and then some!!
10.
Thanks for that. It looks like it would be a long and slow journey - it seems fairly remote on the map.
Not that remote, Hope's a 20min-ish drive from Sheffield...it is chuffin miles from Inverness though
11.
Chordbot is good - generates chord sequences for you to play along with. Knows about lots of chord types. The free version is not bad, but the paid one has lots of different comping styles and has the randomise option to generate random (but musically sensible) sequences. Can save chord sequences out as WAV. I find it very useful for coming up with ideas and for general mucking about.
I'll have a look at that, what a good idea that is!!
12.
On my kitchen scales it weighs 11lb 11 ounces. For comparison, my ash-bodied $$ weighs 8lb 11 ounces
Sheesh that's as heavy as my acg 6'er!
13. Hiya, Have you got a few more pics please? Headstock shot, other details etc?? I used to have the passive German version and it was lovely, what are the controls please?
14.
It all looks pretty normal factory standard mess The GL drawing is fine, follow that & you'll be OK, your sketch I'm not seeing very well. All the blacks to 1 common point is fine. All you need to do is desolder the existing neck pick up wires & replace with the new - what's different about the new pick up wires? The white, yellow & green wires you describe sound right. Meter set on suitable range < 1000K check the pick up wires (after disconnecting) & compare to the new - probably 10K ish. Also check the pot across the 2 outer tags should be 250 K ish from centre tag to either outer, turn 1 way to zero, other way to 250 K.
Thanks matey, am reassured that the rest of it looks functional if lacking in elegance! I'll try the new pup and see whether that cures the ill! The new pup I've been sent has one white and one black wire (normal-ness abounds here) the pups that are installed have one white and 2 black wires each...what confuses me is that the new one isn't identical to the ones that are installed...?!
15. I got a lovely JB-2 Tribby recently and it plays and feels really good (especially for the money!), only snag is that the neck pup does nothing, not even a crackle when I turn the pot, nothing!! I've been sent a replacement pup and vol pot from the retailer but on opening it up the wiring doesn't look like any jazz bass wiring I've ever seen (or like the JB-2 wiring diagram that's on the G&L website!)...there are more wires from the pickups than the replacement I've been sent too!! It's confusing my little non-electrical brain!! Here's a link to the G&L JB-2 wiring diagram http://www.glguitars.com/schematics/JB2_schematic_drawing.pdf It looks enough like a standard Jazz bas wiring diagram that I recognise it! Here's a pic of the wiring on my JB-2 All of the black wires from the pickups along with the earth that goes to the bridge and the tip connection for the jack socket are soldered to the top of the casing for the neck pickup pot! The white wire from the neck pup goes to the middle peg of the neck pot (looks normal to me) The yellow wire from the bridge pup goes to the middle peg of the bridge pot (looks normal to me too) A green wire goes from the bottom peg of the bridge pot to the middle peg of the tone pot (this doesn't look right to me but the tone pot works for the bridge pup so...?) I've sketched a schematic of what the wiring actually does (hopefully it makes some kind of sense) Questions... Is there any wiring reason why the neck pup does nothing at all? Should I rip all the wiring out and start again with a more standard jazz bass wiring setup? (I'm tempted to do this so I can get some better pots in there) What checks should I be doing with a multimeter to work out whether it's th epickup or the pot that's faulty (if the wiring looks ok)? thanks bc
16.
One charge to rule them all, One charge to find them, One charge to bring them all and in the darkness bind them.
17. I've used http://www.cclonline.com/ as their prices have been excellent over the last few years...
18. Happy days matey! Long may it continue for you!!
19. On a bass I've played a lot I know exactly what notes I'm playing, with my newish acg 6 string I've got an extra string and that's really thrown me thus far, I'm gradually getting used to it, it'll take me a while but when I get there I'll be me again!
20. I just bought the AI that Steve bought from Clarky Steve was a perfect gent in waiting a couple of days for the cash to land, posted it out asap and it has now arrived safely on my desk. All happily and easily done, stree free deal. Thanks matey!
21. Bump for an excellent cab that's just too far away for me to collect
22. I had a 55-01 and really liked it, I felt there was something lacking in the sound though, the preamp was a little clanky for me, I tried a 55-02 and was immediately taken with it! Very versatile sounds, the preamp did everything I needed and sounded superb for all the sorts of music you've listed (I play in a covers band doing exactly the sort of thing you've said too)...loved it! I didn't need anything else but I did try an ACG and that was my downfall! I miss my 55-02 as it did everything I needed... but g.a.s will do strange things to rational folks
23. SOLD the only pending bit now is delivery!
24. purple peach, sounds superb! It'll obviously be amazing, looking forward to seeing some pics!!
