1. Not deal related but just to say that Tom is an excellent paragon of the spirit of basschat! knowing I was interested in trying out a piece of gear he offered for me to visit him so I could a/b it with my current kit, we filled his wee front room with bass gear and played/nattered away over an hour! Generous with his time, generous with his gear (he's offered to loan me it even though he's only just received it himself!) and makes a great coffee! thanks matey!
2. Awesome NOS beauty there and a price soooo tempting
3. Confused as the mobile version is currently ok
4.
Bump for an awesome set-up. Been swearing by mine for years now. One cab is perfect for upright bass gigs, clubs, rehearsals and two is way more than the sum of its parts. And the covers really do their job to the point of p!ss taking - a drummer mate keeps slagging me for taking the vacuum cleaner to my cabs. Have a bump!!!
Thanks matey, if I weren't craving some 2x12 action I'd be keeping these for their versatility
5. [s]For sale my pair of pristine epi ul112 series 2 cabs complete with epifani covers. Only selling these so I can switch to a 2x12. They're £475 each new from the gallery & the covers were an extra £50 each, these are pristine (the covers are superb!), gigged only a couple of times, £400 each or £750 for the pair (collected)...would prefer not to ship as they're quite large (I collected them in person from the Gallery in London when I bought them new) but I will if it helps facilitate a sale/deal.[/s]
6.
The only bass I have ever had that experience with is my Lakland 55-02. Basses typically don't live long with me before I get bored and move onto something else, but this bass has been a blessing to me since I bought it 9yrs ago. It was bought as a back up and quickly became my #1. I wasn't looking for my dream bass at the time as I thought I had already had it...an Overwater Progress III. When I played it at the shop I obviously liked how it sounded and played otherwise I wouldn't have bought it, but it wasn't until I spent plenty of time with it at home when I realised how dynamic and flexible it was. I have used it for funk, gospel, metal, folk, hip-hop...you name it! I can always find the answer I need. I had a collection of 6 basses when I bought the Lakland. All have gone except the 55-02, which speaks volume to me. At the risk of sounding corny, I have a strong bond with that bass.
I seriously loved my 55-02 and finances allowing I will have another one someday, it's the best mass market active type thing for versatility, playability and just plain awesomeness! Despite having my dream acg I still recall fondly my 55-02! I have recently been shocked and surprised as to how bloody good the g&l jb-2 tribute is! It's so much more gutsy sounding than any other passive j I've tried, with a change of strings and a setup it will be superb!
7.
Cheers Andy- think I might have got this from you?
Indeed you did matey
8. These are superb little 'secret weapons' for getting yourself a bit further forward in the mix without fundamentally altering your tone, simply brilliant!
9. Welcome (also from Sheffield!)! Check out the db forums on here, loads of advice, there's also a db for sale forum so you might pick up a bargain too... If cash is a problem then borrowing will be best but for consistency of practicing on a new instrument renting or buying will help you to get used to that particular instrument...I'm sure there'll be loads of folks more than happy to give you advice (I'm not much of a db player, I have an EUB which satisfies my upright itch when I get chance)
10. Liking that very much! Quite...Within Temptation / Lacuna Coil / Evanescense ish... Album?
11.
Nah, he's done loads of other stuff.
...after a quick google...indeed he has!
12.
To get it into perspective though, he was 19 years old at the time, it was Virgin Records first album release (so it could be argued that it helped fund future signings), has sold somewhere between 15M and 17M copies and has regularly popped back into the album charts. (No.66 last year). If I had a track record like that then I don't think I'd be hugely worried.
does that make him the top one hit wonder of all time?
13. That's a beautiful thing!
14. My new 'cheapie' G&L tribute JB-2 arrived this morning from lookat.com in Spain (http://uk.lookat.com...2-t-sunburst-rw)... Such a bargain price for what is a £700 guitar! Despite it being packed in cardboard and being very cold from the vans and warehouses it's travelled/stayed in it was perfectly in tune and played pretty well straight out of the packing! It has an acoustic springiness that knocks every Fender I've tried into a cocked hat and a seriously solid feel due to it's 6 bolt neck attachment and extra high mass bridge! I'm really looking forward to plugging it in this evening to see how it's electrics sound but acoustically it's cock on! Here're a few shonky phone cam pics to prove it exists before I get my proper camera out: These are seriously amazing for the money, especially at 'lookat.com' prices!!
15. Mobilesheets is precisely what I was looking for! the only slight improvement Icould see for it (so far) is in the editing of set lists, it'd be good to be able to drag and drop songs around in the set list rather than having to make a new one
16.
It's a universal PDF reader that you just import your files into, don't get what's so hard about that? And the 6th tab on the bottom, first picture. http://www.zubersoft...eets/about.html Song Metadata MobileSheets allows you to create songs using image files or pdfs. These files can be on the tablet (including images taken with the tablet camera), or imported from your PC using the companion app. Each song in your library has a title, artist, album, instrument, difficulty, source type, and audio file, allowing you to enter as little or as much detail as you want to organize your library. You can also select sections of pdf files to create songs from, allowing you to break up one pdf file into multiple songs in your library.
Awesome! That does look v good indeed! Can't believe I missed the super important bits when trying to read it before! Thanks matey (and thanks for patiently pointing out what you'd seen last time too!), I'll have a closer read about it.
17.
can't help with the solution but I would say you want to create a 'playlist' of .pdfs as you would in media player etc.
succinct and precisely what I meant to say! ta matey!!
18.
Don't use android but is this not what you want? https://play.google....ft.mobilesheets
Lots of good features but it's another app where I'd have to reinput all of the songs into their format, I want one that takes a pdf that's already made (std universal format) so I don't have to recreate 70 files. Doesn't look like it does the set list thing either
19.
I have an app called Documents2. This is linked to my drop box. I can then download pdf's from my dropbox. So I make a pdf with the songlist I want and download it to ipad.Swipe from page to page as required.

Just realised you want it for Android. Have a look at "Documents to go" https://play.google.....docstogo&hl=en
hhmmm, I have pdf reading software it's the next part of the function that's missing from them all...I have all the pdf's (one per song) already on mem card, what I want to be able to do is to create (and save) just the setlist in the app (based on the app compiling a list of the pdf titles in the song folder) and then for the app to open each indivual pdf in turn (and in the right order) rather than me having to go and find each one at the end of the song... does that make sense? I know in my head what I want it to do but describing it in words doesn't seem that easy (today)
20. ...oh, and I've had a good look at the apps available and haven't seen one that lets you import pdfs, they all seem to be 'chords only' and 'enter the chords yourself' type things...
21. I have 60 or 70 songs (chords & words) in pdf format that I use for reference during our sets, I'd like to start using my samsung tablet rather than printing the sheets out and carrying a large folder of paper so here's the app idea... I have a folder on my memory card containing all of the pdf's; The app looks at that folder and populates a list of all the pdf titles; I select the songs in today's set (in order) and save that as a setlist; During the set the app brings up the relevant pdf (preventing the device from sleeping); moving to the next song is by swiping/tapping the screen; there's a 'during the set' menu available to modify the set to accomodate ad-hoc changes; My current alternatives are to... create a gig specific pdf of all the song sheets but this doesn't allow for ad-hoc set changes, or, I can spend a few moments inbetween songs (when I should be changing bass or f/x settings) faffing to find the next pdf via the folder list on my tablet, or, ditch the tablet idea and carry on with the folder of flappy paper!
22. 'I love my octamizer' type bump!
23. no problems with Mel at all, simple easy transaction, ta chuck!
