1. I think that the problem is that he hasn't got one ! Yeah hungry like is odd isn't it. I think that thump along to the hi- hat on the verse
2. Used to do this but drooped in the current line up as too much programming for the keys player which is a shame. Currently doing hungry like the wolf which I find a bit trickier. I think that this has been discussed here before; two bass parts and Duran Duran don't play it all live as per record or something. Rio great fun to play though.
3. Numerous bandmates have suggested it over the years. but I've never seen the need
4.
It was the Bass Centre version that had problems. I use the Comfort Strapp all the time.
Me too I have had a couple of these for a few years now. Highly recommended. I bought my second one on here for very little
5. We are an experienced function band based in Essex, aged between 40 - 60. Our gigs range from black tie balls to weddings, parties and corporate events playing all genres of music from the 1960s to the present. Unfortunately, our lead singer is leaving the band next year to concentrate on solo projects and we are now seeking a new vocalist - either male or female or maybe both. On average we gig about once a month, but have kept the diary clear in the new year for rehearsing the new singer(s), having just a couple of dates to fulfil between January and July 2013. We have all the equipment required (mics, PA, foldback - including in-ear option) and a dedicated sound engineer. Playing an instrument would be a bonus, but not essential. Must have own transport. More information about us can be found on our website http://plancband.co.uk/home.html We rehearse fortnightly in the Chelmsford area and plan to hold auditions in the New Year. Mike
6. Yep me too Thanks Scott. I'm really enjoying your lessons.
7. I'd have these in a snap if i didn't already have one in my SX p bass. Highly reccommended.
8. May i suggest that you watch your right hand too. Try and keep your wrist straight (carpal tunnel syndrome risk) and 3rd and 4th fingers lower when not in play and they won'thave so far to travel and won't get so tired. I think that I picked these tips up from a Gary Wills book years ago.
9.
I bet that's not the original fuse in the plug either...
If it is it probably won't be for long if you switch it on
10. They sound complete morons. Leave the band or fire the guitards and find someone with a more professional and grown up attitude and actually knows what they're doing; these two clowns patently don't.
11. I saw them in 1987. Best live band performance I've ever seen Saw Zappa plays Zappa in Cambridge also good and highly recommended for any Zappa fans.
12. I hope that you managed to placate your wife or if not the ice packs are helping and you'll be able to walk again soon. Anyhow whats the bass like. Was is worth the pain and turmoil ?
13. Can anyone recommend replacement electrics for this ? I don't want to replace the soapbar pickups as I think that they're an odd size, but would like to upgrade the crappy concentric pots and preamp. It has volume, blend, treble/bass, mid/midshift at the moment so I'm thinking a 4 controls or possibly a stacked pot in one of them if I must. It's like this one but stripped back to the lovely maple:
14. I really like my Wizard Thumper in my SX Precision. I'm not sure which bridge has been fitted, it's a BBOT vintage style but nicer quality than the original ; absolutley fine and looks the part. It was fitted by neilB on here I think he was the original owner who did an excellent upgrade of all the electrics and hardware. I think they're gotoh 70's style tuners possibly a gotoh bridge ?
15. yep 1st position for me. I've tried it on my 5 up the neck but prefer to play it like the original. It just sounds and feels right I've found that a lot of bands play play it too fast; it's surprisingly slow on the record. Keep at it you'll soon build up the stamina
16. ...and have one on me too. I have one of these, an early one with no scratchplate. They're great I love mine.

Sorted

Shame I could have been no 5 but I have a gig that night and I know nearly all of your set too
18. If only I had the money bump. Nice bass and seems a fair price to me
19. Thanks Bilbo I'm sure you're right. I'll just get the chords and use my ears. Sway is pretty peasy as is King of the Road I think
20. Can anyone let me have or point me at a source for tabs or notation with bass parts for any or all the following please ? My Way (Frank Sinatra) I left My Heart In San Francisco (Tony Bennett) Mack The Knife (Bobby Darin) King Of The Road (Roger Miller) Sway (Dean Martin) i have to learn them fairly quickly for a gig. Cheers Mike
21. I use Musicguard for equipment and PLI Which you will need for a lot of venues if you're gigging
22.
The Behringer ULTRA-DI (DI100) is a very good and cheap one, no need to waste too much money in a backup solution.
i use one of these direct into the PA with a link back to my Markbass combo.
23.
It's nearly the big day guys! Remember to bring examples of your Banda work so we can all have a listen!
Do we have the facilities for playing wax cylinders and 78s ?
24. I'll be there but may have to depart early pm. Mike
