1. I really like my Wizard Thumper in my SX Precision. I'm not sure which bridge has been fitted, it's a BBOT vintage style but nicer quality than the original ; absolutley fine and looks the part. It was fitted by neilB on here I think he was the original owner who did an excellent upgrade of all the electrics and hardware. I think they're gotoh 70's style tuners possibly a gotoh bridge ?
2. yep 1st position for me. I've tried it on my 5 up the neck but prefer to play it like the original. It just sounds and feels right I've found that a lot of bands play play it too fast; it's surprisingly slow on the record. Keep at it you'll soon build up the stamina
3. ...and have one on me too. I have one of these, an early one with no scratchplate. They're great I love mine.

6. If only I had the money bump. Nice bass and seems a fair price to me
7. Thanks Bilbo I'm sure you're right. I'll just get the chords and use my ears. Sway is pretty peasy as is King of the Road I think
8. Can anyone let me have or point me at a source for tabs or notation with bass parts for any or all the following please ? My Way (Frank Sinatra) I left My Heart In San Francisco (Tony Bennett) Mack The Knife (Bobby Darin) King Of The Road (Roger Miller) Sway (Dean Martin) i have to learn them fairly quickly for a gig. Cheers Mike
9. I use Musicguard for equipment and PLI Which you will need for a lot of venues if you're gigging
10.
The Behringer ULTRA-DI (DI100) is a very good and cheap one, no need to waste too much money in a backup solution.
i use one of these direct into the PA with a link back to my Markbass combo.
11.
It's nearly the big day guys! Remember to bring examples of your Banda work so we can all have a listen!
Do we have the facilities for playing wax cylinders and 78s ?
12. I'll be there but may have to depart early pm. Mike
13.
How does one drive two whales?
two in the back two in the front....No hold on that's something to do with elephants and minis.

18. This from the PB62 US on the Japanese site: "BRIDGE: SPILAL VINTAGE" So that's what happened to Benny Hill
19. No one interested in this ? Too expensive. Any offers before evil bay ?
20. My son is selling his CB drum kit http://www.djmmusic.com/itemdesc.asp?ic=SP5NQLX-PKBSBLK which is approximately 5 years old in great condition and has the following extras: Paiste PST5 14" Hi hat http://www.drumwright.co.uk/store/cymbals/high-hat-cymbals/product-paiste-pst-5-14-inch-medium-hi-hats4372/ Selling new for ca £90 Mapex Hi hat Stand Gibraltar cymbal stand An old Pearl "wild 500" ride cymbal Vic Firth quiet practice pads. He gave up lessons 18 months or so ago. It is currently unplayed and mainly used to hang clothes on in his room which is a shame as it a a nice full size kit and ideal for a beginner. Would like £ 170:00 collected.
21. Chops Makes me wince Unless lamb or pork and accompanied with veg and some gravy of course. When depping in covers bands: "we play our own version". Translates as can't play/haven't learned the song properly
22. I have a Wizard Thumper in my SX precision and it sounds great. Loads of midtone if you wind up the tone control and loads of bottom if you don't. Of course now I'm wondering how it'd sound with a trad or the Di mrzio mentioned above or stock fender pickup.
23. I should be there.
24. I'd be up for this if the date works. Great fun last time Cheers for the PM Charic. I haven't voted as happy to go with the flow. I'm not sure that my either of my bands (Covers/function yadda yadda yadda) would be up for it but happy to play with anyone who fancies getting a scratch band together, either on bass or g**tar at a push. Nothing very exciting to bring I'm afraid; same as last year: US Jazz US Peavey Tim Landers signature 5 SX Precision Mark bass cmd210 combo
25.
Good Luck, I started playing bass from scratch at 55 and was playing in public within months. I'm now in two gigging bands. The only thing you can do to keep the nerves under control is practice, boring but it helps. Once you get to the end of the first song you'll find it easier. Make sure you enjoy it, it is over so quickly.
Couldn't agree more If you've learned the material and are well rehearsed with the band you can't go wrong. If not go for it anyway and have fun !
