1. Thanks for sharing this. What a great rhythm section. For me Steve Hackett leaving was the final nail in Genesis' coffin and [s]then there were 3[/s] then they became the Phil Collins band. Aah Wings; the Band the Beatles could of been
 2. Must have been some player to try this in it's original unopened packaging.
 3. A few years ago when I played g**tar in a blues band we used to rehearse in a pub in Cambridge. I got home late and tired after a good sesh and natter in the carpark. On unloading the car about 11:30pm I noticed with a feeling of shock quickly followed by nausea the Fender Lonestar Strat luxury guitar case shaped space on the backseat of my car. I'd put it down while chatting and left it in the carpark in the dark and driven off. Quickly phoned the pub and after a few rings, which felt like an hour the barman said " Hi Mike,Yep it's here". Oh boy was I worried and very relieved to pick it up the next day.
 4.
We do Sledgehammer. I must admit I've not heard any other cover bands play it.
So do we. i've played this in 2 bands now
 5.
Here it is. I've played this many times over the years and it's a great bass line. I've used a hybrid of tab & notation so you get the rhythm correct. It's quite easy to learn. Once you've got the pattern you can work out the key change easily enough. Enjoy. BTW I have also looked for a tab out of curiosity and there isn't one.
Great tab I've really enjoyed playing this in a previous band too.

 7.
Interesting. I'm listening to Fragile by Yes, and reading Bill Bruford's autobiography, both of which are excellent.
A really good read isn't it. The yes and Robert Fripp anecdotes are my favourites.
 8. Body and Soul is a great album, apart from the cringey sleevenotes! I love the bass playing and tone on I'm the man.
 9. Fortunately most of them can be cleared up with a course of antibiotics.
 10.
Me too - I'm in I'll see if the main auditorium in the Perse Girls school in Cambridge is free - any idea which day people would be gunning for? I ask because the church I go to hires the hall on a Sunday morning HTH, Ian
The perse or one of the other school halls would be excellent if anyone has a contact or connection. There are also quite a few church halls around the city i should think.
 11.
Does it deserve the honour of being named as a 'classic' bass line in anyone's opinion ? T
yes
 12. Bob Babbitt on bass according to wikipedia
 13. Lovely isn't it and a really tasteful bass line. Thanks for reminding me of that
 14.
I always liked the only song the free radicals did. Nice fun song, with a surprisingly busy bassline.
+1
 15.
I have an SVT. :snob:
and presumably a good chiropractor ?

 19.
Ha ha - lazy Italians! Not too worried about that as my tuner on the pedalboard mutes the signal anyway.
but it does come with 5 gears in reverse. Whoops I hear the PC police coming down the drive.
 20. I've never had mine cutout (bugger i probably shouldn't have said that) but I think that the DI is Post Pre-amp so our sound geek insists on taking my bass into the di box directly to the pa and I then take a link from the box to my amp, a CMD102p. So if it did cutout it'd still come out FOH.Which is reassuring I spose now that i've probably jinxed the next gig.
 21. Ah Norwich! It's not the end of the world but you may be able to see it from there.
 22. I'd be very keen to come along, especially on a Sunday in Cambridge. The Perse would be a great venue. Build it and they will come!
 23.
Evening all, I recently bought a Mark Bass Little Mark III amp which I think is fantastic but I just wondered how much other MB owners use this control and what for? I assume that there is no way of switching this on and off with a footswitch? Any advice on how to use this nifty control would be appreciated. BTW I play mostly funk music!
Brilliant amps aren't they? The VLF boosts the bass and treble and gives a "scooped" sound. Like setting a graphic EQ into a smile setting. Great for slapping or for a modern hi-fi sound. I find though that it's best not to overdue it; setting it about 11o'clock seems to work. Problem is it sounds good but tends to get a bit lost in a band mix. There have been quite a few posts on basschat about this and the VLE filter. someone on here gets a really goodsound turning both filters up Try it! For me with my US Jazz bass my default is to set all the controls flat ie in the middle, the filters off and a bit of low mid boost at 1 o'clock. Sounds great.
