1.
I have my markbass SA450 flat. You can hear everything. Might give the mids a whirl though as ther are the extra ones? I wonder what they would do?
I find that I have everything pretty much flat (12o'clock) on my markbass combo and boosting the Low mid a little really cuts through. Haven't found much use for the high mid knob yet though
2. I'm sure that it will (party for friends of friends) but have a great day and well done for getting it all organised. I wish that I could have come along. Look forward to the after match reports and pics. Mike
3. This should get you started. http://www.fender.com/support/bass_guitar_setup_guide.php
4. I have a daytime gig on the 27th
5. Wow what a striking bass. I'd love to try one. I have a new set of Dingwall 6 string bass strings if anyone wants them ? I can't use them they're all weird and tapered. I acquired them with an Ebay purchase a while back. Cant remember the details off hand but I'll dig them out if anyone is interested
6. There are loads off us in Essex, Welcome.
7. I use fingers mostly but when I use a pick I like 1mm tortex. Best ones were some that I bought at a music show once which had a star shaped hole in the middle. Brilliant grip in sweaty fingers. If anyone knows a source for these let me know as i don't have any left.
8.
That's the bit. Actually quite simple but made to sound more complicated by 'nard's tricky style
and if you can fit an open low E before the D you'll get it
9. You really need Stuart Clayton's excellent book: http://www.basslinepublishing.com/tab/nile...co-grooves.html It's all in there. As he's a member here I wouldn't feel comfortable copying the tab (and presumably infringing his copyright?) for you but its basically a run of notes over an A7 scale then an octave thingy over Em7 and D9. +1 for Marlowe DK too but buy the book! Hope this helps
10. I use Musicguard as they also include Public liability insuarance. Do Endsleigh, Allianz or any others? I need to renew my policy, currently £69 for £2k of gear and 1 million Public Liability which seems reasonable.
11. Nice idea but I was born in 1962 so it'd probably have to be a Jap reissue for me. That looks very nice but the metal work looks very new
12.
Dance the night away...........yes I really do have to play it...........honest.
I've had to cringe my way through that too in a past depping job. I have a "worm sandwich list". ie I'd rather eat one than play again... All of the above with mustang Sally, Stuck in The Middle and Brown Eyed Girl right up there. Now Hi Ho Silver Lining and Alright Now fall in to an even worse category. They're in the "I'd rather set my hair on fire and beat it out with a shovel" list. Alternatively I'd leave the band before playing either of those. What's the problem with Boston Rag Pete? Seen you do it at The Jazz Cafe a while back. It didn't show.
13. I have a guitar and bass tab for this from Gui***ist magazine from a way back. There are about 12 pages of it though! Do you have access to a fax machine I could send you the key pages. PM me your number. It may work I don't have a scanner. It's a very, perhaps overly, busy bassline but pretty straightforward. Mike
14. Just bought some tomtom maps from Tredders. Very helpful, especially with product info, speedy dispatch and a very nice guy to deal with. thanks mike
15. I'd rather go to a bassbash
16.
Otptimism is a wonderful concept...............
I'm afraid that i didn't even get to the prices; the picture of the guitard in the armchair on the home page was enough to send me straight back to the weather channel page. £100? not bl**dy likely!
17. That's great. Good luck and let us know how it works out for you. If it helps I can forward you the charts that Steve sent me if you pm your email address.
18. I think that they probably are. I was in the process of trying to get together with them and have had to pull out. You should get in touch they are really nice guys playing a very interesting range of material. I'm just sorry that I couldn't commit to another band at this time. Mike
19. I fitted schaller straplocks to mine as I had them anyway and don't trust that double hole in the leather bit. Had them a couple of years no problems yet
20. and another.
21.
I'd agree with you on that one. School Days is a staple one to learn as well.
I'd thoroughly agree with that too. However in my band it has taken on the status of Smoke on The Water or Purple Haze being played badly in a music shop. I turn everything up and use it to shut up the Guitard's or keyboredist noodling at rehearsals between songs.
22. I would if you weren't so far away! Sounds like a good gig and right up my street. If only you were in Essex... Good luck with your search.
23.
Wow and wow... I stand to be correctet, but I'm pretty sure that was back in the days of Bassworld. Assuming it was Mr. Jones, it was pretty entertaining approach to making friends and influencing people...
I think that you're quiet right WOT. It was a vitriolic response to someone that suggested PJB amps weren't as good as the hype. I tried one in the Bass Centre and came away with a Markbass. Mike
