Hi everyone,
I am a relatively new member of this forum (or of any Bassplayer forum) and I hope this is ok to post. I will be playing a rare live show on January 5th. The details are listed below. I will be playing selected songs that I am known for. Some, like Elvis Presley's Suspicious minds, Polk salad Annie, 'Play the blues Jerry' and The Doors LA woman and Riders on the Storm, are songs I am known for because of the bass parts. Others songs by Bob Dylan, Elvis Costello, John Denver, and one or two songs of my own, are songs I have played with the above artists all over the world. All together, i will be playing 15 or 16 songs. I tell stories in between songs that pertain to that particular song or artist.I am told that some of the stories are amusing.
The main backing band, Jenson Bloomer and Mondo Carne, are really good. I have played with them a lot over the last ten or twelve years, mostly for Presley fan clubs here and in Europe. I have stopped the Elvis themed shows except when I do my own part of the show like I will be doing on the 5th.
For the Doors songs, I am fortunate to have a Doors cover band called The Weird Doors back me on those songs. I am told they are very good although I havent heard them. The day of the 5th will be the first time we play together, so if nothing else, it should be interesting to watch how this comes together.
So, the venue is near Birmingham. If you are within spitting distance come on down and hang. Anyone from the fanclub and friends that come will be able to come to the sound check with me if you want.
This is a small venue and we are doing the show mainly for the fun of it and to explore future possibilities.
If you want to come to the sound check in the afternoon email me at
[email protected] and I will let you know the sound check time and put your names on a list at the venue.
