  1. BA55 DMC here. Gets quite a bit of attention when parking at gigs!
  2. Just noticed this - I really like the idea of it actually! All valve in a small package. I'd love to try one out! https://ashdownmusic.com/collections/heads/products/ctm-30-little-stubby
  3. I think it would possibly be a bit too much oomph for a single 12" cabinet, valve watts are real watts after all!
  4. Go for something valvey if you like that flatwound sound, nothing too modern. The Markbass LM Tube may be a nice option?
  5. I enjoyed Ghost more than Metallica at their Slane Castle concert last Summer!
  6. I didn't like the TH500 at all, couldn't get a sound I liked out of it. The Drive control is an unnecessary complication and I think the EQ is active too, meaning that one knob impacts on the other. Not my sort of head unfortunately.
  7. The TI Jazz Flats have a very low tension - too low for me to be honest, I prefer a tension more akin to rounds. You might like them
  8. Agreed with this, the 2x10 Rumble combos never sounded good enough to my ears. Strangely, I found it was the high mids/top end that got lost and not the lows. The 1x15 equivalent is quality!
  9. Agreed. I would never buy Schaller again after this, Dunlop Straploks are a much better choice IMO as they don't have any moving parts at all.
  10. Old thread but I quite like the look of this pre - the EQ centres seem quite musically tuned (for my needs anyway). Maybe just a little on the expensive side however.
  11. Spice Girls' 'If You Wanna Be My Lover' - superb low B action Supermen Lovers 'Starlight' - again a smashing low C line In fact, most 90s mainstream pop has some superb playing and production!
  12. How will your vocalists be heard?
  13. Will the bass signal also be going through the PA? If so, you could definitely get away with a smaller combo than if not.
  14. A Ghost tribute act - superb! I absolutely love Ghost, what a brilliant band. Are you tuned in drop D then? Where do you get those masks?
  15. I would argue that something like the Helix *could* sound much better than even the most boutique of old fashioned pedal boards, given the mountain of EQ options and adjustable parameters for each pedal on the Helix and really useful tools like HPF. All of that coupled with no signal loss, worries about true bypass etc etc
  16. Sold Josh a pair of Wizard Pickups - payment was virtually instant after he agreed to buy and communication was excellent with regard to receipt of the package. Enjoy mate!
  17. Looks like RRP of £639 in the UK
  18. I would always employ a producer if I was serious about a project doing well, even just for the external input. It's often more acceptable for a producer to tell a musician he isn't playing the right part than another band member - internal politics! Of course, it has to be someone who you know and trust and who has experience of the genre you are recording.
  19. Just for reference I went with the below speaker on the advice on my amp tech: https://www.lean-business.co.uk/eshop/eminence-legend-ca-1059-a-8ohm-10-350-watt-bass-guitar-speaker-p-3174.html?zenid=po2nd0atpi6pnu094fgsgqk433 Looking forward to bringing the combo back to her best
  20. Thanks all! Some great options particular in that TB thread. I will pass all info to my amp tech and see which driver he recommends Danny
  21. Hi all The 10" speaker in my beloved Promethean combo has blown the edges of the cone are detaching and it farts at medium volumes Ibanez have discontinued this (fantastic) line of amps and no longer manufacture the speakers, so I can't get a replacement from them. I am wondering what I should do! In theory, any 8 ohm 10" speaker designed for a bass cabinet should work, shouldn't it? Should I be looking at Eminence, Celestion or other brands? Is there anything I need to check with regards to tuning/porting etc? I will definitely have my amp tech put this in so won't be fiddling with it myself. All advice welcome! Thanks Danny
  22. Hi all Just wanted to share my recent positive experience with Ultimate Ears I have bought a replacement cable for my UE11 phones which, after a few gigs, started to fray and eventually the memory flex part split open, rendering it more or less unusable. I was surprised by this as my previous cable lasted for 3 years without any issues. I contacted Ultimate Ears and explained that I was disappointed in this, thinking it might have been a faulty or badly-made cable. I had bought the cable a few months ago and there was no warranty as such, and having paid £60 or so, naturally I lost a little confidence in the brand. One of their Customer Support guys got back to me within a couple of days offering to send me a replacement cable free of charge. Needless to say, I am very impressed by this gesture and am happy to recommend Ultimate Ears again Danny
  23. I'm selling a used set of pickups from renowned Welsh pickup maker, Wizard Pickups Anyone who recalls this brand will know how good these pickups are These are the 84 spec Jazz pickups which are darker and fatter sounding than a regular Jazz pickup - I believe they are slightly overwound and have a nice loud output. They are used but in excellent condition - no marks on the pickup covers, slight oxidation on the pole pieces (pics to follow) How does £80 inc. P&P sound? Thanks! Danny
  24. I think he's just sharing a pic of his bass, I very much doubt that this would ever make it to market as a signature bass
