  1. Def one of HR Gigers aliens, with acid for blood. You could rent him out to Fenders Road Worn department for legit and completely individual wear on their instruments.
  2. Maybe we should report it to the PBI (Pedantic Bureau of Investigation)
  3. In that case I’ll look at the Northampton one
  4. Last night at rehearsal I didn’t place one of my ACS plugs properly. Holy cow Batman, it was loud loud loud. For that band my ACS plugs are essential. But once, buy right.
  5. I play punk & rock so similarly need that brightness on the top end and found the best thing for me is Elixir steel rounds. I get about a year from a set before the brightness fades.
  6. Matt Willis from Busted plays these basses, gets a great sound from them (a girl at work is a fan, honestly, she shows me their live clips).
  7. Had some recent dealings with Bass Direct re an item that went missing in transit. Exemplary customer service, really couldn’t have been any better, a big thumbs-up from me.
  8. Many moons ago my then band played a gig with a bunch of youngsters who were called The Jennifers, later to become Supergrass.
  9. We do it (and all our songs) in E, so we learn them with regular or detuned guitars, but then play them in the right places in E. Does make them sound a bit strange the first few times, soon get used to them tho.
  10. Just been learning Jailbreak by Thin Lizzy, tomorrow will be the first time we play it with the band, it’s a great song.
  11. Pretty much the same settings I had with mine and my Precision.
  12. Ah poo, I’ll have to check the others out, fairly sure there were others quite nearby.
  13. I used an Ampeg SVT plus 810 at a gig there, the payoff was helping carry it all up those stairs. To add insult to injury both were flightcased.
  14. I’ve always used the meters on the nearby streets when playing there, fortunately gigging there 12 April, really looking forward to being back at The 100 Club.
  15. Will do, thinking of the St Albans one as it`s just down the road from me.
  16. That`s the DI I was thinking of. seeing as it can go between amp & speaker, but couldn`t remember the name. The more highs above 4kHz to the desk might work to your advantage, enabling the sound desk to have a better balanced signal.
  17. Yep, good luck to ‘em.
  18. I stuck with Precisions for gigging for years (though am now on Mustangs due to back issues). Over that period I also had Jazzes, Stingrays, PJ basses, active basses etc but only ever used the Precisions for gigs/band use. Nothing wrong with having a variety of instruments for noodling on at home. Up to the individual if they think it’s a waste or not. I do agree with Chris’ point though, having loads of basses won’t make me a better player, no matter how much I’d like that to be true.
  19. The Fender Rumble combos are very good and def worth checking out, though an idea of the type of music you play will help in recommendations.
