  1. There will be a revolution - musically of course, happened many times, tastes change. I think of my youth from early 70s to my 30s in the mid nineties, punk, new wave, two tone, New Romantics, hair metal, grunge, Brit pop. Admittedly all bands unlike what’s current but people get fed up of the same stuff after a while.
  2. First off look at what your current bass isn’t doing for you, then the question is do any of those mentioned solve that. If so then put the miles in if possible to try them out.
  3. Think that’s great that Jamie Stewart replied to give advice/info.
  4. Yup, ACS PRO 17s for me, their most natural sounding ones apparently.
  5. It happens, in my first proper band we played at Manchester poly. On the way back, once we were on the M6 I fell asleep and when I woke up we were in this dark lane with Welsh sign posts. Apparently the driver/singer got lost cos I was meant to be navigating. Manchester to Hemel is essentially south on the M6 then M1, that’s it.
  6. Imo the smoothest easy going voice ever, she just sounded effortless when singing, and her voice takes me back to my childhood in the early 70s, fond memories - think some of tomorrow will be spent on Amazon sourcing a best of.
  7. I had a Peavey 1x15, had a Black Widow in it I think, awesome sounding cab, weighed something like 95lbs - and I lived in a 2nd floor flat when I had it, no lift.
  8. Same here, my preferred genres are punk & heavy rock, but my fave song ever? Seasons in The Sun by Terry Jacks.
  9. Embrace the rock stance if it’s better for your back, if it means practicing a lot to get used to it then put the work in. Ironically I’ve had to do the exact opposite, heighten my bass for my back, doesn’t seem right to me but the back says thanks.
  10. We`ll miss the weekly updates in How Was Your Gig, Dave, but all the best for whatever direction you decide to take, sometimes just having a break really reinvigorates.
  11. Just watching Alanis Morissettes set, incredibly good (and nice to see a Gibson Les Paul bass too).
  12. I wonder if the reason the older cabs sound better is because they don’t go as low as the more modern ones maybe? I think back to the great basslines from the 70s & 80s and bass seemed to be less low lows.
  13. Same, I like some of their songs but not all, and most of the bands on the bill aren`t on my fave last I wonder if these tickets will generate the same fiasco as Oasis did last year?
  14. Definitely, I just hope these are of decent quality as there are some excellent basses around that cost less, if they’re no good Fender might well be shooting themselves in the foot. It took them years to get away from the dubious 70s reputation, but not much competition back then, I think back to my Vintage Tony Butler Precision, a whole load of bass for still under £500, this - and Sire - is what they’re up against now.
  15. Looks good and sounds good on the clip, seems it’s a pedal that doesn’t go from clean to Lenmy without anything inbetween, ideal for those of us who just want to take off the edge of a completely clean sound.
  16. I play pretty good rhythm guitar but although I can solo due to my experience of keeping time on bass my solos sound mechanical rather than fluid.
  17. Looks really nice, like that a lot
  18. Many moons ago the band I was in had bought onto another bands tour, as support - yes kids, this did happen in the 80s & 90s. Anyway, all in the van and off to the first gig. We pulled into the city centre to ask directions. I asked isn’t the gig in Bradford, yes was the answer. So why are we in Barnsley was my next - and rather unpopular it seemed - question.
  19. It’s started already, there’s an MIM Precision on eBay at the moment for £800.
  20. Continents have fallen over less…….
  21. I’ve not owned any but have played through a good few, with usually the only set up time being a line check but always been able to adjust eq to quickly get a good sound. They seem to have a presence that some other brands don’t imo, it’s difficult to describe it, maybe a hardness/solidity to the sound. Really helps with on stage sounds and hearing yourself.
  22. Great news, you’ve done a few of these now haven’t you?
