  1. It could be the tweeter, I had a similar problem with an Ashdown cab and it was part of the tweeter that was vibrating/buzzing (even though I always switched it off). They changed it for me. Happened on the lower frequencies.
  2. We’ll all still be here should you return to the low end at some point Martin.
  3. I’ve played Precisions for years but due to back issues had to go short scale last year. I decided on the JMJ Mustang due to it being Fender and having a Precision width neck (I had briefly tried one before and liked it). To my surprise I think they suit me better overall than the Precisions. Of course the lighter weight and shorter scale help physically but I find it easier to get the sound I want from them too, plus the looser string tension means easier to play. And easier to cart about as they fit in a guitar gig-bag.
  4. Agree, it’s similar and adding in about 30% of the bridge pickup brings in some mids getting nearer the Precision sound but its not quite there, pretty much like decaf, similar but not exactly the same.
  5. Like others above I’d say keep hold of some form of backline rig, just in case.
  6. Sorry to hear this Lewis
  7. I agree Andy, having just put on a set of Ultralites onto my lightest (about 7.2lbs) JMJ Mustang it`s sorted the neck dive on it. I`ve another 2 which as they are heavier (still only 8lbs) the neck dive isn`t an issue.
  8. Very sorry to hear this Ray, in answer to your question Basschat is a great place to sell gear, I`ve bought/sold since I joined in 2009 and have never had a bad experience.
  9. I’ve heard this rig in action and it sounds really good, a lot of rig & power for a very good price.
  10. Quality amps these, I use one at our rehearsal studio and it really delivers, this is a lot of amp for not much money at all.
  11. Re Fool For Your Lovin’, we do it and although I’m sure my add-ons & flourishes are probably not exactly what Neil Murray played it sounds pretty close. The only bit I dumb down is on the second half of the guitar solo as it sounds a bit empty (we only have 1 gtr) so I do more root notes on that part to give more depth.
  12. On a slight tangent I recall a great tee shirt that had two mice dressed in Armani jackets with the sleeves rolled up and wearing shades: Miami Mice
  13. Same, never saw ABBA live but Bjorn Again sounded soooo near it was great. Especially when “Bjorn” said to “Benny” that he was fed up of playing wuss music so they played Paranoid.
  14. I think you`re right, that I`m sure does apply to many (probably the majority) of the instrument/amp making companies, aside from the company I was speaking with. Not sure about how true it is now but a mate used to work for Marshall and apparently they never gave stuff away, figuring that the more they gave away to rich professional musicians the more they`d have to charge not so rich non-professional musicians in order to remain a viable profit making company.
  15. I’ve heard of similar instances @Wolverinebass, with artists calling up companies saying hey, a great business opportunity is coming your way, pay me to take away loads of your amps.
  16. Different Wheatsheaf Dave, a much more pleasant one (going by the above) in Leighton Buzzard
  17. If I recall correctly @uk_lefty the Crow is run by the same people who ran the Wheatsheaf, or at least had something to do with it.
  18. Great guitars, I have the black version, plays and sounds fantastic, easy enough to play whilst sat on an office chair that has arms too.
  19. Yes it`s amazing that given how many very talented bassists there were throughout punk that Mr Ferocious is the most well known.
  20. Agree, I like Dagans guitar reviews but this doesn`t make the pedal sound great, I`m sure there are much better tones that can be coaxed from it.
  21. If portability is a factor then a Fender Rumble combo - either the 500 or 800 - would work. They’re plenty loud, lightweight to carry and can be picked up used for good prices.
