  1. ITEM SOLD ABM power and performance via a lighter 1000 watt Class D power amp. Weighs 9.6kg. 7-band eq, Gain, Compression, Ashdowns famous Sub-Harmonic generator, plus a Pre-Shape setting make this one of the most flexible amps out there. No trades thanks
  2. Now Sold One little Ashdown RM-112T-EVOII 300 watts at 8ohms, 3-postion tweeter, connects via jack or speakon I`ve had the tweeter upgraded on this cab by Ashdown HxWxD 465x380x335 Weight 14kg No trades thanks
  3. I`ve recently bought a couple of wiring looms from John, for Precisions of course (and another on the way). To Fender spec, I just wanted better electrics in my backup basses than what comes stock. The newer looms are amazing, so easy to fit - well it`s a case of if I can manage it then anyone can, so that should be a ringing endorsement for anyone a tad unsure. Plus dealing with John on the transactions themselves is nice and easy, swift delivery, great comms, well you can`t go wron really.
  4. I was at Ashdown HQ today and found out that the ABM 810 is four 210s, as there is a shelf between each horizontal row of speakers, probably/possibly why it sounds much "tighter". Must admit that`s a good idea, Ashdown seem pretty receptive to suggestions on their ear, may well do that.
  5. Same here, I just don`t make them sound very nice but I always have a yearning for one
  6. Keep it, you`ve got a Mexican Wall before Trump gets his
  7. I tried out the Geezer Doom head today at Ashdown HQ, and it was amazing. It was that sound that you know will just fit perfectly in the mix - tight, focused, and with a great presence. The gain isn`t gain so much, it`s more that you don`t notice it when it`s applied but once switched off you go "oh, that was what it was doing". For anyone thinking/hoping they`re getting a distortion pedal in with their amp they`ll be disappointed, that`s not what it does, it just adds in rich harmonics to the tone. But for me it was an awesome amp, if it wasn`t that it`s very much like the ABM600, which I already have, I`d get one of these in an instant.
  8. And an update to this, I`ve now used my MIM Precision with the Toneriders in a couple of times and have to say I`m really pleased with them. My sound nirvana is the Fender Custom Shop 62 Reissue, as per my US Standard Precisions, and these Toneriders are very near to those indeed. I`ve just ordered another set for my other MIM Precision, and am now going to gig my MIMs rather than take my US basses out on the road.
  9. It is a very nice combination. A tad more than budget quoted, but in some situations buy once is a better option than buy cheap buy twice. Just make sure you like the Markbass sound, if you do, well imo Barefaced pair really well with MB amps.
  10. First off congrats, for an Introducing Stage it`s a big `un! We did the Punk Festival there a couple of years back, won, so played the Main Stage last year. If it`s run by the same people you`ll have a great time, a very well run fesival, though word of warning, they try and take a percentage of your merch sales. Second that, The Billy love rock, it`s a great pub, great local crowd, play well and they`re your friends forever.
  11. Difficult one, as the current band I`m in is my ideal band, and I wouldn`t want to try and re-create it, so I`d just go for: 1 - All band members have their own gear & transport. 2 - Ideally located pretty near to each other, to make rehearsals as easy as possible. 3 - The band must be a gigging band. 4 - I`m pretty sure my next band will more than likely be covers, so whatever style of music, well known & popular ones in that genre, nothing obscure. 5 - The most difficult bit, I`m not interested in running things, so need a focused band leader to arrange gigs etc. I think finding out about egos would more than likely come later, as most with the ego issue don`t realise it, so aren`t likely to say first off that they`re a nightmare to work with.
  12. I`ve no idea, but it must be 100+, maybe 200. It hurts my brain to try and think logically re this.
  13. Similar here, I preferred the XM8500 for my voice so sold my 58.
  14. Sounding good
  15. Yep, I`ve changed the bridge plate for a Gotoh one on my MIM that has the grooves in (£15), changed the scratchplate (£10) put a set of Tonerider pickups in (£35) plus a KiOgon wiring loom (£30). I`ve also added a Hipshot triple string retainer (£15) to keep the pesky A string where it should be. I`ve pretty much decided to now use my MIM as my main gigging bass. I bought it for £350 and have added an extra £100 to it, it will now save me gigging my fave US Precision that cost me £900. Now I`m not doing the US instruments down, not at all, they are my fave, but the current MIMs really are very good value, especially if you buy one second hand and make any changes you feel you need.
  16. Successful covers bands play songs that people like singing to and dancing to, nothing too complicated, they are there to entertain the audience. Just because a member of the band doesn`t like a particular song doesn`t necessarily mean the band shouldn`t play it, in my old rock covers band we did Born To Be Wild. I`ve never been overkeen but the audience loved it, if it had bombed I wouldn`t have cared but it was one of the most liked songs we did, so it stayed.
  17. I used an Ashdown ABM 215 at a gig and it was great, tight focused sound but as @VAMPYRE 5 says, you also felt the sound.
  18. Just reviving this thread as I used a TC Electronic BH250 last night (no longer got the one I wrote about previously). It was plugged in to some form of 610 cab, and again I was really impressed with the amount of sound available. I`m not that keen on bass in my monitors, so the BH250 was having to cover stage volume and on a pretty big stage I had the master volume on about 10 o`clock.OK I use my Para Driver for all my eq, but the volume available from that little amp was pretty impressive.
  19. Yep, I tried the SL410 at the LBGS when it had just come out and it sounded lightweight to me as well as being lightweight. Went across to the Ashdown stand and their budget Rootmaster cabs for me blew the Aggie SLs out of the water. Horses for courses I suppose, would be a boring world if we were all the same.
  20. Nice one Dave, I`ve just picked up a Vintage instrument myself - Tony Butler Precision. Am amazed at the quality of the instrument, seems Vintage punch way above their weight.
  21. Congrats, nice bass. Saw a bassist using a `Ray last night, had a great sound, but very untipically `Ray-ish - plenty of mids, subdued top-end, gave a really full sound without being too bassy.
  22. Agree, simply turning down a bass drum that is dominating the overall sound shouldn`t be tricky, after all they managed to turn it up in the first place.
  23. Same experience for me with Rotosounds, read about Warwick Red Label Steel Rounds and have tried them, they last longer than Rotos, not sure how long as am still on my first set after about a month and a half, whereas my Rotos would have been dead by now.
  24. I really hope that these new ones stand up against the other more familiar material.
