Silly money given the parts used

I was thinking of some form of Gallien Krueger for this. Edit - or maybe a Trace Elliot?

Being now on my third one of these, I can`t ever imagine the 500 watts of power that these amps have not being enough - and I`ve only ever paired mine with 8ohm cabs so never got the full beans out of it.I`ve just got to keep reminding myself that this really is the best amp for me as a backup/rehearsal amp and stop playing the field. Def the fullest sounding Class D amp I`ve had.

Very good instruments the Affinities, play much better than you kight expect of a budget instrument, great as a backup or to learn on - if only starter basses had been as good when I started.

Similar experience, played a gig on Satuday and our very own Bassix was using a Flea Jazz. It sounded very growly and not bright at all, rather Precision like if I`m honest, probably the most Precision sounding Jazz I`ve ever heard. Neck on full, bride on about a quarter I think Liam said. I had a go on it and it played very nicely too.

I had a couple of Schros, a 21012 with the 12 being angled, and a 410. The 21012 was bassier and seemed to project the sound everywhere, the 410 was a tighter sound but still projected well. The "famed" mid-bump was there on both, meaning they really worked in the mix. Strange cabs really, on their own, and especially at low volume I didn`t think that much to them but once in a band setting, well that`s where they really came alive.

Best rig for weddings and functions and stage sound
Lozz196 replied to siphillips's topic in General Discussion
Why not call their bluff and get everything set up but back off on your bass to the pont where it`s virtually inaudible, then when they tell you it`s still too loud ask them all to stop playing, then you play at your cut volume. At this point you`ll for one no longer have them blaming you for too much volume, and then not have to worry about buying ne "more suitable" gear. I emphasised that as your gear is fine. I think @bertbass may have hit it here, a keyboard player with a busy, heavy left hand. -
A bassist on the bill last night used a Rumble amp head, sounded great through FOH, really chunky.

These would be my choice, as they pretty much keep the looks of the original.

Brand new Ashdown 2x10 combo failed on first use...
Lozz196 replied to torby's topic in Amps and Cabs
Also message Ashdown to see if this is a fault they`re aware of, and if they can advise as to how to progress. I`ve found them excellent on customer service issues and having their advice to provide the seller with could be a real help.- 28 replies

Pretty similar for me, Danny. My Sansamp Para Driver sounds scooped to my ears in some areas, but to this I add bass, hi-mids and gain. The amount of people who compliment me on my bass sound suggests that it can be heard.

I`ve always thought that the wall of speakers is a great idea. Just cos there are loads of them doesn`t mean they have to be loud, amps do have volume controls remember, but on a (very) large stage, well at least you`d have a presence of the instrument no matter where you were. Rather than one 210 some 30 feet away, and two monitors in front of you trying to handle the whole band in them to rely on. When we play festivals we never have the amps louder than the on-stage un-miced volume of the kit, but the fact that it`s invariably an 810 and two 412s stacked make hearing yourself a lot easier. On even bigger stages I`d like two 810s, and two 2x412 stacks for the guitar. I suppose I`m not that keen on relying on monitors, as long as I can hear all instruments on-stage volume fine then I`m happy, and having more speakers has - in my experience - helped that a lot.

I`d bet on small intimate gigs with a lot of ambience, Pete

Nice basses, many congrats, the RWs are very nice indeed. Possibly an optical illusion re the colour, stick a tort on the Precision and it might look darker. I`ve noticed a similar thing when I line my Precisions up, the white ones look bigger than the black ones, they`re not, the colour scheme just makes them look that way.

ITEM SOLD One Squier Precision, from their Affinity range. Plays much nicer than you would think a budget instrument should, and the action, whilst low, will go lower - thank our very own Grangur for this, as I bought it from him. Since the purchase I`ve swapped out the electrics for a KiOgon wiring loom.Comes with a gig-bag. Pesky photos on this one won`t stay up the right way, aaarrrggh. No trades thanks

I`ve recently bought a couple of wiring looms from John, for Precisions of course (and another on the way). To Fender spec, I just wanted better electrics in my backup basses than what comes stock. The newer looms are amazing, so easy to fit - well it`s a case of if I can manage it then anyone can, so that should be a ringing endorsement for anyone a tad unsure. Plus dealing with John on the transactions themselves is nice and easy, swift delivery, great comms, well you can`t go wron really.

I was at Ashdown HQ today and found out that the ABM 810 is four 210s, as there is a shelf between each horizontal row of speakers, probably/possibly why it sounds much "tighter". Must admit that`s a good idea, Ashdown seem pretty receptive to suggestions on their ear, may well do that.
