  1. Past hour
  2. Nice, but I’m really not on board with the whole headless thing. They’ve always just felt completely wrong in my hands, ever since I first tried an old Hohner Jack headless in the early 90s. I tried out a Strandberg bass last year, and it was a lovely thing - light, punchy and comfortable (my back loved the lightness!), but it still had that same issue as the old Hohner. The balance is off, and, for your left hand, it just feels like you run out of neck. I can see why they did it - if they want to use that same singlecut body shape they use for their guitars, adding a headstock is going to unbalance it. I’d have hoped they’d come up with a better design to compensate for that and still have a headstock.
  3. My Sei singlecut 5 is a wonderful, amazing bass that I will never part with, but it’s had various neck issues over the years - that’s despite having a theoretically very stable wenge/bubinga construction, with carbon reinforcement rods. I had to have compression fretting done on it, followed by sending it back to Martin & co for a neck “reset”. It’s been behaving itself ever since, so hopefully it stays that way.
  4. Have had the 310 for a while now &my main reason for buying it was the fact that it was a 4 ohm cab so I would get maximum output from my Orange OB1-500 I had been using an SC [8 ohms) so was having to push the amp harder. Now that the drivers have bedded in, the sound is gorgeous without having to push the amp too hard. I'm playing a 60's precision with roundworns on, bit of dribble through PA, but am getting smiles from drummer & nearby guitarist about the sound. I find it's well worth taking an Aurelex board along and trying it with & without at soundcheck - most of the places I play are pubs and you never know what is underneath you! The drivers took longer to bed in than I expected, but I find I get a better tone from the 10'' than the 12" drivers. As for the weight, I always carry a fold-up sack truck which also helps with PA speakers, lights etc. Having said all this I am 72 + years old and I reckon my playing career has been extended by a good few years by going down the Barefaced route.
  5. One bass player has a very good left hand shape, I'm the other one.🙄
  6. Yesterday
  7. I think that just about wraps this up 🙂
  8. Absolutely amazing but of kit. I expect to see it on more pedalboards. The Demon looks cool too!
  9. This is huge discussion really. We dropped a ton of what I call " stinkers". I think some bands get into trouble when the set list is heavy on songs band members like and like to play. More often than not the crowd doesn't like what band members like. You have to play what t g e crowd wants not what we want. Daryl
  10. No issues with my Schallers as fitted to all 30 or so basses and guitars here.
  11. After thinking about it. It depends on the deal. The pay, length of tour caliber of venues and accommodations. If I was presented with a good deal where I would come home at a profit and put money in the bank even at 70 years old I'd take it. Daryl
  12. B&Q didn't sell it, and I wanted it done sharpish....as in straight away. Even the missus says it can live in the living room now...
  13. Back at The local small time level. A close friend a drummers 9 peice ( 3 horns) booked a corporate gig in the upper peninsula. $300.00 per man plus 1 overnight hotel accommodation. Not bad. Daryl
  14. Personally... tortoiseshell 😁
  15. It looked incredible with the Dimarzio chrome covered pickups in here:
  16. Similar size but around 10+kg lighter I would think
  17. I think @Dad3353 nailed it. Our 80s band has quite a few songs with nihilistic and/or depressing lyrics - Town Called Malice, Suedehead, Love Will Tear Us Apart, In Between Days, Another Girl Another Planet and so on - and the punters seem to love 'em.
  18. Go one block at a time, dont get too complex too quickly and work out your own. where isn’t it going fantastically?
  19. This is great. This sort of thing is SO important for keeping music alive. My lad’s been playing with the County Orchestra (he’s a single reed woodwind and flute boy) for years and the teachers play alongside the kids during the concerts too, it’s brilliant. Good work!!
  20. Sorry, can’t help locating this, but I love how the kid plant has evolved as they’ve got older. this is from a couple of years ago.
  21. Science Amps Mother Preamp. A collaboration between Science and EAE. Based on their Mother amp which is loosely based on a Hiwatt but with more gain available. this is working great infront of by TB500 V2 for some extra EQ flexibility and a little hair on channel 1, light drive on channel 2. Takes my Fuzzrocious demon perfectly for distortion too.
  22. Good run through before next weekend's gig. Tried using some samples to go between tracks and that worked nicely. Also managed to work out I can use the harmoniser for +/- 1 octaves for some extra filth if I downgrade the reverb from the "plus" option on my GX-100. That, with my always on OD, plus fuzz, reverb and delay sounds enormous. I've recently switched out to processing all of my dirts as parallel paths too, combining bass and guitar effects to make a thicker sound. I'm so pleased with my tone at the moment! I dread to think how much I'd have spent to get my current setup in a traditional pedalboard format. Especially once you add in a pedal switcher that can do parallel paths. It'd be massive and heavy to boot!
  23. Gigs can often be great fun and sometimes it's the unexpected that adds to it! We had a great time being the course rock band at the Hackney half marathon again this year: it was a beautiful sunny day with eager runners streaming past, but...
