  2. Price Drop to £80 Having replaced this very lightly used (never left our smoke free home) Roland Vdrum kickpad with the the extortionate KDQ-8, this is no longer required. So it's up for grabs. If required, I could post it if we work out a price. It's in excellent condition and working perfectly, and I'll clean the dust off too (only just noticed !) Any questions, let me know.
  3. There Are More Questions Than Answers - Johnny Nash

  10. Get in touch with Newtone strings, they'll advise you would would be best for you. For that 'sound' you want stainless steel wire wound strings.
  11. Built it yet? That looks amazing. The best, most memorable Xmas present I ever got was a technics control centre in my youth. Was the one I’d asked for and totally didn’t expect to receive.
  12. I own a Jolana S bass (made in Czechoslovakia,it's a copy of Rickenbacker 4001). In early 90' I modified the shape (butchered it,wish I had kept the original shape). The neck is still original. I'd like to get som bright strings, but because the neck is reasonably thin like Rickenbacker 4001, what are my options. It will be used for playing metal. Thank you
  13. I played at our local jam on Boxing Night. As the 'only bass player in the village' I get the dubious honor of playing for 4 hours without a 'break'. Anyway - the pub now has a DJ with a 16 Track PA, subs and tops. So I left my amp and cab at home and dug out my StudioSpares DI (last used before Y2K). 5 minutes fiddling with the PA (bass, parametric mid, and treble) and bingo. I sounded just like me. I still don't know how to describe what that sound is though.
  14. Lazy Bear 4 way pedalboard patchbay. Little chip on the bottom which I did today whilst removing dual lock tape. Turned the air blue, I did. Other than that, it’s in excellent condition. £20 posted.

  16. I agree with both of you (albeit mostly from the perspective of studio work and just playing with my A&H CQ at home, yet to gig it and previously been all-analogue live apart from reverbs). Presets can be pretty useful as an over-the-top caricature of a sound to, especially where you're struggling to know where to start in a complete mix. But they generally need taming a fair bit. What would be cool is if the presets had an extra 'intensity' control where you could dial them progressively back towards flat. Multibands comps also, especially combined with presets, can be quite good to quickly brute-force a mix towards an impression of what it should be. But generally then best turn it off and go back in to make changes at channel level based on what you've heard. Finessing at the end a la mastering sounds nice in theory, but in all honesty I can't remember the last time I heard a live band where the mix was at the level where that was all that needed sorting!
  17. okn thanks. What internal amp among the 3 amps and what internal IR cab do you use ?
  18. The ROLAND KD-8 Kick Pad is a lightweight 8-inch high-quality trigger pad designed for V Drums, featuring a solid durable metal and rubber construction. Its compact size and lightweight design make it easy to transport and store, making it a versatile option for drummers looking for a reliable and high-quality kick pad to enhance their performance. Designed to replicate the sound and feel of a traditional kick drum. Great condition: tested and in full working order. Will work with all Roland TD modules. Selling due to kit upgrade. Width: 27cm Depth: 26cm Height: 40.5cm Weight: 6 lbs 7oz Only £55. Collection from Bournemouth BH6 preferred.
  19. The DM610 is a large bookshelf/standmount speaker from renowned hi-fi brand B&W, featuring a well-braced 30-litre sealed cabinet with 8-inch mid-bass driver. The larger driver and extra cabinet space create a much better low end range than from most similar speakers. This model allows for either bi-wiring or bi-amplification. These speakers present clean tight bass response, surprisingly clear mids for such a large driver and the pleasant highs that the well-designed B&W tweeter at that time was famous for. They can be driven quite loud, enough for the physical effect of the bass to be felt without audible distortion or a sense of sound compression. Both speakers are in Very Good condition, especially for their vintage. All-original, complete with full grilles (one of which has a small hole, shown in the final photo). Only £125. Collection from Bournemouth BH6 preferred. Here comes the science bit… Type: 2-way closed, shelf speaker Colour: Ash black veneer Dimensions: 490 x 236 x 303 mm (H x W x D) Weight: 7.8 kg Recommended amplifier power: 30-150 W Frequency response: 70 - 20,000 Hz (±2 dB) Crossover: 2500 Impedance: 4 Ohm
  20. Thanks, Mokl. I was running two as a vertical stack – best live sound I've ever had!
  21. L-R Fret wire radius tool. Used to put a radius on fret wire before installing the new fret. D’Addario String Cutter Fret saw with gauge. It’s for cutting fret slots and the gauge stops you going too deep and ending up with firewood.
  22. To be fair to these Fazley basses (I haven't seen or played one), a thousand pound bass will probably come will strings that you'll want to change and in need of a set up. I'd have no qualms in buying one of the 4/4s if I needed it as a bass I just don't need to worry about. If something started to fail then you don't have to worry about professional repairs as it will have virtually no resale value, just glue it or screw it yourself and carry on playing. They probably won't sound the best but for live playing you'll most likely be using a pickup and it won't matter anyway. It'll have 12 months warranty anyway so play the hell out of it and any major issues, if any, should arise in that time and you can get a refund or replacement.
  23. On my bass pedalboard I have a Boss BC-1x compressor as an 'always on' pedal, and specific songs have distortion from a BB-1x. On one song I use an organ sound doubling the bass which I achieve with a SY-1 synth with CEB-3 chorus. I also have an AW-3 dynamic wah on the board which I like to noodle with but don't currently have a specific use for in the set.
  24. Like the other posters, I hope things take a turn for the better very soon. GLWTS.
