  1. Past hour
  2. Whereabouts in Warwickshire ?
  3. Lovely to see Burning Spear at Glastonbury. I dread to think how long ago it was I last saw him live, anyway 👏
  4. Every time I watch a big festival, I have to question why I don't like jazz basses, considering nearly every bass player will be using one.
  5. Looks like a standard Les Paul bass
  6. anyone know which Gibson Alanis Morrissette's bassist is playing?
  7. Do it. Just do it. I ummed and ahhed about going digital for ages and finally took the plunge. Why didn't I do it before? Do be prepared for a bit of a learning curve, and the on-screen layout is different for Windows, IoS and Android (for some reason) but it has been a game changer for our gigging experience. Everything has inproved significantly. The sound of the band has improved and we are delighted. We pretty much threw up some microphones to record a gig (USB into the computer running the recording software) and the sound quality was astonishing. Some good tutorials on YouTube, and plenty of great advice here too. You won't look back.
  8. Holy f***
  9. I frequently trawl various 'instrument for sale' sites when I've got nothing better to do of an evening once the boy is in bed and after the wife and I have had some dinner... 8pm to 9pm is my prime hour! I stumbled across a Conklin GTBD-7 on eBay yesterday, not too many of these were made, they were meant to be a cheaper, more accessible version of the USA Custom Shop Conklins, however they were very expensive to make and the quality was exceptionally good, not too far off that of the USA Custom Shop basses, so they stopped production after maybe a year or so. They did the GT-7 (the cheaper version) and this GTBD-7 versions with Bartolini pickups and preamp as well as a premium top and through neck. I've owned a couple of these over the years as well as two USA Custom Shop Conklins (one I still have and I will die with), so I'm very familiar with them vs the USA stock and they are really great basses. I made an offer on this one, we had a quick chat about logistics, and the offer was accepted! Should be with me Tuesday/Wednesday of next week. Comes with a spare set of strings and a hardcase too. 👍 Damn you eBay for FORCING me to buy this! 😆
  10. It’s the difference in tone that I use to decide what songs to use each technique on.
  11. Congrats cat, I did similar with my Hohner B2A, I bought it to try and love it, I found it a bit strange on a strap at first
  12. Vernon was born in the U.K., he deliberately used the U.K. spelling when setting up Living Colour.
  13. Congrats, have to admit I’ve been tempted by these for a while
  14. Its got the Coachella effect now, more of a photo op for a lot of people
  15. Hi Paul Unfortunately im nowhere near Benfleet , i would be quite happy to cover the postage cots have you any pictures of the case. regards Jay
  16. Do you need another bass (as well as, not instead of)? Most of us do.
  17. I am with @Chienmortbb here, because: Any cable used in band context will suffer from dust, poor handling, hits, kicks, you name it. A reliable cable looks overkill in the first place, but after a few years you can see that there are cables, and cables. Your choice may be Fender or Ibanez, but definitely not mine. Silicone cable, colours, Neutrik, soldered, velcro for coiling and storage, cable case... I am serious about cables: the bands I am playing with are not suffering odd faults.
  18. I don't get the urge to make amps look pristine but make guitars look relic'd. I love the look of a relic"d amp. Amps have a far harder life than guitars on the road. This one looks superb. I'd leave as is. GLWTS
  19. Price Drop to £150.
  20. U.K. postage is around 70 on Shiply so would let this go for £400 delivered Thanks
  21. I have owned one of these in the past. Don't be put off by the shape - I found mine surprisingly ergonomic - it balances well and the top edge of the body formed what I can only describe as a "shelf" for my forearm to rest on. Really quite pleasant playing experience, and sounded good too. I felt enriched and enlightened by the experience of owning and playing one. And yes, you feel like a bloomin' rock god when you're playing it - you will throw shapes and pull faces. GLWTS!
  22. Hanging On The Telephone - Blondie
  23. That is a very cheap solution, I think Neutrik had similar units. But the signal may be on the low side. I suggest a test, maybe some booster or preamp pedal could help.
  24. Today
  25. If I'd known, I'd have invited myself round for a cup of tea
  26. I have one of these, it's great. Managed to get the PUs out of the plastic covers and fit chrome covers 🙂
  27. One of the above, good working order, Velcro on bottom. £50 inc postage in UK.
