How was Your rehearsal last morning or night ?
knirirr replied to nilorius's topic in General Discussion
Last night's rehearsal was difficult, trying to get the finale of Anything Goes to work. It doesn't help that I'm on guitar for this show, but the incentive to practice is useful. -
@Bilbo: Does the amp still howl?

I've been married more than 40 years and never worn or owned a wedding ring. I don't wear any other jewellery and take my watch off to play. Can't bear anything on my fingers.

Which is odd as for the last few weeks my facebook feed has been displaying a lot of random things, and today, this was the photo to images down in my feed when I got up, dispite never hearing of the band before! -
Since getting back from the Broken Peach gig my singer wasnts to cover their version/mash up of One way. Not sure the band are going to grasp it. Too stuck in their ways to want to be entertaining.

Sadly and with apologies to the BCer concerned I wasn't able to go ahead with the trade deal on this so it remains available. I think I might pop it up to one of the midlands shops on consignment sale soon as it's the location/collection/delivery thing that seems to make this a bit of a challenge to sell, certainly from the wilds of East Kent 👍 -
Just found a deadspot on my Dingwall. I am annoyed.
Sean replied to kwmlondon's topic in Bass Guitars
I wonder how many readers of this thread have picked up their basses and started looking for dead spots. I'm not going to bother. I'm not aware of any and would be frustrated if I found one. Good luck with getting it sorted and although I've not had any dealings with Dingwall, I only hear positives about its customer service. -
Bought recently as a donor for a fretless ‘51 I’m building but way too nice an instrument to pull apart plus I’m going with a slightly less trad approach for the build now anyway. Originally put together by BCer@kevin_lindsay who clearly knows how to do these things 👍 Link to sale thread with details of components and more pics here…

I didn't have as much problem with my first wedding ring as I did with my first wife.

Three Hail Stock Aitken and Watermans and one Dead or Alive. For penance you must now completely recreate all the DX7 sequences used exclusively to perform 'You Spin Me Round'.

Expired now unfortunately....

I think that I’ve committed a Tier 2 infringement, I’m afraid, but I do have extenuating circumstances. The sound guys at church want us to try using in-ears (which I already have) but I’ll need a small IEM amp. So I got a little Behringer in-line belt pack for 23 quid off Amazon. I can only apologise for being naughty, but a big boy made me do it and ran away (to behind the sound desk). 😫

I recall that I would previously remove my wedding ring, and place it on a music stand while playing. However, I can't recall why wearing it was a problem. However, my fingers do seem to fatten up occasionally, which necessitates me removing my ring, leaving a ring-shaped impression underneath. At other times, it is loose. Odd.

How was your recording session last night/yesterday...?
BigRedX replied to MacDaddy's topic in General Discussion
Sorry if it came across as a criticism, it was an observation, and TBH yours isn't too bad. I regularly see people with Mac laptops with the dock at the bottom of the screen much larger than that. I come from a graphic design background where every vertical pixel is at a premium and the dock takes up way too much space for very little interface benefit. For me having the dock shifted to the right hand side of my tertiary screen allows me get two more tracks on the arrange page in Logic without the need for scrolling. Out of interest have you ever given any thought to the placement of the dock or have you just left it in the default position as set by Apple? -

Good job it's not your set up then, be a shame if you had something else to criticise, eh? Not short of screen real-estate, in any phase of the recording process, and most of the work is done dynamically through the S3 controller. You do you, I'm more than happy with my studio. -

Another dock taking up valuable screen real estate on the bottom of the main display. And really big too! IMO dock icons should be no bigger than desktop icons. If that was my set up I'd have it stacked vertically on the right hand side of the upper secondary display. -

I have a single MM Bartolini in my Frankenstien SR5 fretless, which is an MM neck with a basswood OLP body. It's got the Bart pre as well, it's a very good sounding bass, aggressive and punchy.

My wedding ring is ceramic, 8mm wide and very chunky. It did take a little getting used to, but the only time I notice it anymore is when I’m not wearing it (which is basically only when wearing latex gloves while airbrushing (which is like air-guitaring, but you pretend to be Bob Ross…)). My original wedding ring is sitting on the bottom of the river Bure. Where, as it came off, it snapped the bone in the end of my finger in half. That made it rather more difficult to play than wearing a ring…

Never occurred to me that it might be a problem, been playing and wearing wedding rings for nearly 30 years.
