  1. Past hour
  2. I don’t know if mine is typical, but it weighs in at 3.7kgs. Not heavy by my standards, but still my heaviest bass, despite being the shortest.
  3. Here’s my new, much simplified board. The Original Effects pedals are amazing, and with some more tweaking the HX One will give me all I need effects-wise. My trusty Rockboard power bank means no need for a mains PSU, but I have a connection tucked away if it’s ever needed.
  4. Agreed , which is why I am using a power bank USB output and standard 9v input . So 5 to 6 hours on power bank battery and if it runs down just connect a standard 9v pedal PSU. https://www.thomann.co.uk/harley_benton_powerplant_powerbank.htm?msclkid=99502965fa64165f0eb44006467e47e7&utm_source=bing&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=Shopping UK&utm_term=4575755105892823&utm_content=GI
  5. Because they forgot they didn't do it at the same time as the guitar!
  6. Well, one thing, if it is not designed for it, if (for instance) I plugged some headphones into the TRS aux output of the X18 ihave, and it could drive it (and I have never tried, so can't say for definite), the ears would be inverted from each other - the tip and ring of a TRS aux are the positive and negative of the output, and the ground is just the cable ground. Headphones are tip to ground and ring to ground per ear, so in headphones when your left ear was pushing, your right ear would be pulling and viceversa. But irrelevant if the QC18 is designed to also run a headphone, I assume it fixes that.
  7. I don’t think shipping to The Hague is a practical option for two reasons. Firstly, including the flight case and foot switch, this amp weighs over 40kg. Secondly, with the UK now outside of the EU, the amp will be subject to import duties and VAT on arrival in the Netherlands. So, on those grounds I’ll stick with my original post which is collection only or meet halfway here in the UK.
  8. The very excellent Boss ME-90B for those who prefer physical knobs, buttons and foot switches. It's a great pedal indeed, save your own presets or use it as an all in one pedalboard. Packed with features and incredibly reliable. Loving the amp simulations now that I'm using in-ears a lot. Reason for sale: I have other pedal based things like my wireless system and I want to put them on a board so unfortunately this needs to go to make room. It's been very well looked after and will come with a power supply and the original box. The Bluetooth adaptor is not for sale I'm afraid, I'll be using that on my new pedal. Pickup from London, Cambridge or St Albans. Or I can post it to you at cost.

  9. The flow is great. It would be fantastic if it had a better power connector, but its still pretty good!
  10. I would question why you’d have signed up for the challenge in the first place!
  11. Empires and Dance - Simple Minds All (well, most) of the songs are built around Derek Forbes' brilliant driving bass lines, it's my second favourite album of all time but that disheveled bar steward with the moist towelettes, @upside downer, beat me to it. If I were wearing a cravat and monocle and perhaps sporting a cane it would be Gentlemen Take Polaroids - Japan
  12. Price drop now £350 collected.
  13. Hi folks Here we have a Roberts 3" strap, 46" - 51", the second higher hole shortens it by 5 1/2 inches. The button holes are clean, no appearance of being used, it still has the manufacturer's tag attached I'm asking £15.00 + postage I Fang Q
  14. One advantage of having a speaker with mounting points is that other things can be attached. I've put two side panels on the Mod Dwarf, they just slip on and off, so nothing permanent, so that sits on the top and the Gnome on the back of the cabinet It's all quite secure and I'm a little surprised how neat and tidy it is.
  15. I think you’ve covered the factors off really well. String choice, action and pickup height, there isn’t that much else you can do really.
  16. It isn't a perfect bass like you'd expect from a US Fender either. The body is rough in places, the frets could be polished and there are a couple of small dents on the neck. I'd have sent it back if I received even a £200 bass like that. But it's super comfy to play after a just quarter turn of the truss rod, sounds good, holds tune and resonates really nicely. I just want to pick it up and play it a lot, which is the sign of a good bass to me.
  17. It worked out lovely for the bass…I now have added it to my GAS list… jonny
  18. Thanks Phil, helpful as always! But, if what you say is correct (and I don't doubt that it is for a second!), that's making me think that the various earlier comments of: "you should never put an IEM cable into a line-level aux-out, without a headphone amp" as being an over-cautious old wives tale?
  19. would also accept trade for an iPad pro T.Hanks
  20. Ok, this is Yodel's attempt at delivery to my friends address. Honestly 🙄.
  21. I play my shorties so much these days that my long scales barely get a look in, and when they do it’s my bitsa ray. Not played my TT4 Superlight for ages. I think I’ll give some thought to moving that on to raise funds for a JMJ. If I can find one that is light enough.
  22. I know I'm being super fussy, ideally I'd like something that doesn't look particularly 'electric'. The band is doublebass, and either two acoustic guitars, mandolin and ukulele, or a mix of them between the two GUITARISTS, plus singer and drums. The Rivolta is borderline 'too electric' looking and I think the Italia takes it's too far. I do like them though. The Allen Woody has been on my radar but I've never played one, are they very thumpy or can you get a decent range of tones from them? I've been using my Kay K162 at rehearsals but it is just pure thump, you cannot get anything remotely bright from it, I even put DR Hi Beams on it and nothing. I love it but I could do with some highs. I might look at changing the electrics as I love the bass itself. Edit, I've also got a Hofner Club, only an Ignition but it ticks the boxes, but the narrow spacing at the bridge feels sooo different jumping between it and upright. I know I know, first world problems. The truth is I love the look of that Rivolta 😁
  23. I’ve seen T shirts like this before but always assumed that they were knock offs. This looks like a genuine Fender product - how can they get the date wrong??
  24. And I would also argue that if you do not own a bass guitar now, buying one because you have a gig and can't play without a bass, it wouldn't count as a fail
