Speaking as someone who has transported all @neepheid's basses to a bash, I would concur with his assessment of "Don't bring everything". The one very small advantage of bringing everything, including a full top box, is that when you do pop into a rather decent guitar shop in Birmingham for the first time in nine months, you are limited to only buying anything smaller than a box of matches as there is simply no space for anything larger, thereby saving money. I'm not bitter about this at all. Nope, it's not a problem at all, it's all behind me now. Rob -

Sean replied to bassace97's topic in Amps and Cabs
We're in Andover tonight. I feel like I've rocked up at a gunfight with a battleship. This is too much amp for the venue. It's like driving a McLaren around a supermarket car park. It's sounding incredible already and it's only been on 15 minutes. I put the second cab back in the car, it's too much with 4ohms and 2x Monaco. -
Chienmortbb started following EA iAmp Doubler power module replacement
-
Before you do anything make sure it is the power module. The fact that the MUTE button mutes the hiss suggests that the failure is not there but elsewhere. Those modules are not especially noisy on their own. Before the module there will be a preamp and a balancing circuit as the 250ASX2 is it is two amplifiers working in bridge or anti-phase.

The 12 Best Professional Sound Speakers?
Stub Mandrel replied to Phil Starr's topic in PA set up and use
It's not that difficult. You have a model that reflects the rate of cooling at the current ambient temperature, and the rate of heating at any given power level. Knowing that you can predict the net temperature change over any period. -

Which makes me think that they are limiting to the driver minimum specs. -

The world is a poorer place without Anthony Jackson in it. I first came across him on the credits for Paul Simon's Greatest Hits album in the very early '80's. He played bass on Slip Sliding Away, and I was blown away by how he alternated between low notes and high-register passages played round the vocals. It's still one of my favourites. I know AJ is feted for his work on the 6 string contrabass, I love that, but I really enjoy his earlier work played mainly on Fender basses. Everybody knows For The Love Of Money, but he did some equally dazzling and inventive playing with a whole host of artists on the four string. And he was funky as anybody else you could name from back in those days, of course in his own inimitable way:

I have traded a few basses into Bassbros and the deals have always been spot on, Will is a great host and very knowledgeable. I visited earlier this week and picked up my dream bass. The hospitality and service could not have been any better.

Time has come to let go of this great bass rig. Had this for gigs but only got through one before the band had issues again. If I play again will be going to a power amp/modelling pedal and In ear setup as most of the places I can practice are quiet or have cabs available. Head sold ..... Markbass MB58R 104 PURE Bass Cab 4ohm 800watt version This is a light exceptionally portable bass cab With great bass response which is surprising after you have carried it in. Has an adjustable tweeter and is just a great cab. Weight is around 16kg so an easy one person lift. Sounds great is great would keep it but is just taking up spare room space. Featuring four 10" custom designed neodymium speakers housed in a spacious cabinet, it produces articulate tones with a rich. fulfilling bass response. In addition, the 104 PURE boasts a clear high end through a built-in Hi-Fi tweeter. This formidable speaker can handle up to 800 Watts, so you've got ample headroom for those situations where you need plenty of volume. Routing all finished and a cheeky little Paulowenia inlay on the edge of the neck pocket as a bit of an experiment to compliment the Maple neck.
-
Apparently, the Modulus made early necks were a myth (rrp of a modulus neck was almost as much as the rrp of the G Bass), and they are not actually carbon necks as marketed, they have a maple core with a carbon wrap. Still cracking basses for the money of course, but really interesting marketing choice from Peavey; the manual literally says it's a Carbon Graphite neck with no mention of it being mostly wood. Crazy but there you go. Still want it!

Jackroadkill started following What's a good method / product for cleaning Tolex?
-
Hi all, just wondering if any of you have any tricks up your sleeves when it comes to cleaning 40-odd years' worth of nicotine stains, beer and dust out of the Tolex on your amps or cabs. I'm in the process of giving an old cab a new lease of life and although I have all of the functional aspects of this well under control I'd like to get the exterior cleaned up a bit, too. Years ago I worked in a music shop and we used a foaming cleaner for this, but I don't remember it being particularly effective, even when combined with a good helping of elbow grease and a scrubbing brush. If anyone has any tip, I'd be very grateful. Cheers, JRK

QSC CP12 Active PA Speaker 1000 Watts One of two - priced individually or for a small discount if sold as a pair. This speaker is as new and has not been used since purchase. It comes with additional QSC waterproof cover for outdoor use. Very powerful speakers however I’m downsizing and selling my larger portable PA gear. Street price is £579 cheapest I can find so this is a good saving. The covers cost an extra £67. The user manual is included. I have two of these for sale. I can knock off £40 if you buy the pair. Pickup definitely preferred but talk to me if this is impossible. UK only. Postage would be at buyer’s cost and I’d need to source packaging as the boxes have been recycled. These speakers get glowing reviews in Sound on Sound magazine - https://www.soundonsound.com/reviews/qsc-cp-series I own a pair of QSC CP8s which are perfectly fine for keyboard monitoring and rehearsal PA so these aren’t needed now for personal use. Speaking as someone who has brought everything to a bash, I would advise that you don't - be editorial and try to bring what you think will be interesting. I will be bringing 6 of my 14 basses, with another 4 or so which I will bring if anyone asks. -

Great score. I had sellers regret and was seriously thinking about this if my 78 P bass sold. Alas, not in time. But great for you. You will love it
