  1. Past hour
  2. I am trying to upload a picture for the thumbnail for a bass I wish to sell, but it keeps telling me it’s too large a file exceeding 1024kB. How can I reduce it? I’ve tried new pictures and to change setting on iPhone camera but cannot find any way. Can anyone point me the way?
  3. I'm not really much help to the original question, but I recently played at a rehearsal room that had a LM IV and a Markbass Traveller 102P and my first impression is 'what's that?! That'll be far too weak' ( I play in a 8 piece Reggae/Ska band and for the Reggae bits in particular I go loud and low with my Ashdown RM500 and Techap 212 600w cab). ....but after a couple of songs and dialling in the EQ I thought 'wow, this is really loud/punchy and clear'. We got to the end of the rehearsal and without any prompting the guitarist commented on how good it sounded. I can imagine the 102 Energy is even better. So the upshot is, I'm seriously considering selling my cab and going for the Markbass (traveler or Energy). The cabs is about half the size of my Tecamp 212 and a fair bit lighter (useful when fitting in my small hatchback with the other gear to gigs, or for taking to people's houses for rehearsals). It probably doesn't move as much air to flap the trousers quite so much, but is smaller/lighter and clearer/more punchy and will be more than enough for pub gigs (bigger gigs/festival things tend to have a PA anyway).
  4. Thanks Simon - the case has good backstraps so I do ok with those until the doorways. The seat & stand bag is a pain so I was hoping for an all-in-one wheelable solution
  5. I think the downside is due to the current saturation in the media, and the hysteria being raised, he`s only likely to be pushed further in his current direction. The thing is, with a mate like yourself who will enter into dialogue with him, rather than someone who just shouts him down/over him, he can see a reasoned viewpoint so I`d say stick around.
  6. Ok great. Im away on hols for a week or so. I'll drop you a line when I'm back and hopefully have a look if not sold. Not too far from Swindon. All the best
  7. Not sure about balancing things on the bass itself. One of the great things about the buggy is that the bass balances really well and it can stand up on its own. Could you carry the bag on your back or is that too heavy? I’ve done many tube journeys with the bass on the buggy and either a bass guitar or small amp on my back/shoulder. I don’t love it, but it is doable…
  8. Or I could be straight and say they have no feedback and the postage is too low - can I have a photo of the bass with a hand-written note so I know you have it. I'm tempted.
  9. Find a pretext to message them asking for another photo of a certain detail. If they can provide it then at least you know the bass exists...
  10. Thanks for the reassurance. I’ve basically been doing that for more than 3 years. Unfortunately, he seems to be moving in the opposite direction politically but that is his prerogative. Of course, there is always the possibility that he is right and I am wrong🤔. As far as I am aware he doesn’t actually participate in physical acts against immigrants. I think that might be my red line.

  12. Yes. I enjoy a good debate as much as the next person and I am quite happy that people have differing views to me on all manner of things as long as those views come from a genuinely informed position and they are trying to do what is beneficial for others. But bigotry isn't like that. It's questioning whether a person or group of persons should be treated equally or sometimes questioning whether they can exist at all. I couldn't be in a band with anyone like that.
  13. I'd be inclined to stick with out for now - I completely understand your discomfort, but you've also pointed out that, away from his poorly-researched politics, he's a nice person. As long as his views aren't tipping him over into acts of violence or harassment, you may even be able to work on his better nature and very-gently-and-ever-so-indirectly steer him towards questioning some of the crazier stuff that he's reposting. In theory, there's hope for everyone!
  14. it's worked for me on the couple of occasions I've done it '64 Hofner violin bass for £1700
  15. Search from Amazon that Cherenkov bluish powder and mix it to the paint. Choose Strontium based powder over Zinc and others to get the longest possible glow. I've done tests with 2 - 20 % of luminous powder to paint. I might suggest around 5 - 10 % depending on your needs. Green is the most powerful colour, that's why you need more when using blue or other colours. Addition: I've only used whitish paints, but try it to some tinted colour and tell us about the results.
  16. At that price for an extra £150 it’d be far safer to buy a new one. If the seller was close and you could pick it up then okay, but zero feedback and that crazy low postage has got alarm bells written all over it. Those photos could be from anywhere…
  17. Funny thing is, C4's have been posted after this ad and sold already... You probably would have shifted both items by now if you hadn't turn down the offer.
  18. Having struggled across a car park and rammed through triple-doors to orchestra rehearsal last week - nearly taking out the wind section at one point - I need to seriously consider this! How do buggy users cope with also carrying a heavy bag containing seat/stand - can you just balance that on the bass as you wheel it…?
  19. Just came across this thread and it is actually a situation I have on my mind. No names, no pack drills: a bandmate in one of the bands I play in expresses very anti-immigrant views, given the chance. He is a radical Reform supporter and reposts some really poorly researched, utterly false claims on Facebook. He seems to be a sucker for far-right conspiracy theory. I am OK with people holding opposing views to me but I lose sympathy when they are based on the most transparent misinformation and involve little to no critical thinking. Trouble is, this apart, he is a really nice person. The only person in the band who expressed any real concern, or interest when I was in hospital for 10 days a couple of years ago. The only person who visited me at home, to see how I was doing, once I was discharged. He is also very generous and willing to help friends out. I can’t reconcile his political views with the rest of his character. I think he has realised that I don’t share his views (I am not sure about the others, equally divided I suspect). Consequently, we just don’t discuss politics at all in the band. I once pointed out to him that, although I hold British nationality, I am a dual national and an immigrant myself, as is my other half. Apparently, that doesn’t count. I suspect because we are both white and not Muslim. Apart from that instance, subjects that could cause contention are avoided and I never acknowledge, or mention his Facebook posts. Am I being a coward, should I leave the band on principle, or is this respecting other peoples’ right to hold opposing views? I am inclined towards the latter position: there is too much polarisation in our society. However, it still troubles me.
  20. No feedback. I've seen postage errors loads of times to be honest. The lack of feedback is the issue for me. Half price isn't bad. Realistically priced is one way or looking at it. The AI slop is crap as normal
  21. Thanks for posting that. When I had my first 60+ last year I wasn't aware/didnt cross my mind I oculus use a midi pedal. what put me off the 60+ is the fiddly way of tuning effects on and off. I already had a Boss FS-1 WL for keyboards and other things, but never thought it could more or less become a pedal board. Can't wait to try that over the weekend. I plan on using just one patch. Comp - Chorus - Phaser - OD - Amp (SVT). I'll possibly duplicate this and change the amp to maybe a Fliptop for more mellow stuff, and possibly change the FX's if needed. The foot switch only has 3 buttons, but that's perfect as I'll set them for blocks 2-4.
  22. Hi, If you are comfortable with soldering iron then de-solder the transformer winding wires from wherever these are attached to. Check for shortage between primary & secondary winding too - in my hifi valve amp one of the secondary transformers went to heaven for that reason - very rare failure i was told but nothing I could do about it. 🤦‍♂️ If the transformers are fine then the fault is obviously somewhere else, just a common sense and look for any wire detached or anything that looks burnt out.. That Mullard ECC83 is indeed worth few quid, don’t rub it clean as if there is a code printing on it it rubs off easily and actually this code can tell what year the tube was ,,born,, etc.. Wish i had this, fingers itching.. I hope though that the fault has nothing to do with transformers as that is the most expensive component here.. (bar the tubes if any of these are causing it but then any cheap new production tubes would do for the purpose of troubleshooting ).
  23. Yes still available.
  24. Ooh! Ooh! U/V fretmarkers? U/V activated paint? "Sci-Fi glow" - sounds excellent.
  25. So the risk is you get an empty box delivered but cant prove it? Unfortunately, it's the other side of the country from me...
