Danny Sapko discovers… (now including follow up vid that is worse!)

Met him at the London Bass Show back in 2014 or so. He was there showing off his new-at-the-time Cort basses. Had a short conversation with him, but didn’t want to bring up any of his controversial stuff, about practicing with metronomes and so on. I also met Lee Sklar there, who was far nicer, more approachable and happy to talk to anyone who came up to him. -

We played a 1.5 hour acoustic set. Probably 125 in attendance. We we're strictly background music. I get it, but nobody even looked in our direction. Good pay, so I won't complain. No pics. I left my phone at home. Daryl

It's one finger per 'fret' on the Ibanez, on the Stagg there's currently a lot of moving the whole hand.

He and Geddy Lee my biggest influences by far.XTC, a totally unique , eccentric band that sounded like no other. Amazing stuff.

12stringbassist started following Colin Moulding - unsung hero

Colin Moulding is an unbelievably excellent player. XTC were fantastic at times. Some of their music is quite polarising, but at their best they were untouchable. Much missed.

2025 SE Bass Basheroonie! Sunday 9/11/25 *CONFIRMED*
TrevorR replied to NancyJohnson's topic in Events
I’ve not had my Sandberg tweaked since I got it in January so a set up for it would be great. I’ll bring some new strings for it. @NancyJohnson also happy for it to go in the blind shoot out. -

I'm really tempted to buy a blue one as a mod platform. I'm thinking about swapping the pickup to something I have in my box, and boy, do I have stuff in there. Either: APB-2 Lightnin' Rod (since there's room for lots of stuff under the bonnet and I want to remove it from my Fender P anyway) Ibanez Blazer split coil (essentially a DiMarzio) old Ibanez EB-3 copy bridge pickup, much mojo Artec SideWinder copy Your WillPower mod makes me lean towards the last option, and then going wild with a stacked V+T and a rotary switch for Series/Parallel/Out-of-Phase tonality, a thing I wanted to build out of a Squier Jag H that got discontinued and is only available in Boring Black these days. I'd swap all of the hardware to Guyker, too.

Sparky Mark started following Valve Amp - who’s still using them?
-
My Bugera SVT CL clone is still going strong (at home) and keeps me convinced tube power has a certain something special. Unfortunately, unless I play a gig in my own back garden, I doubt it'll be used in anger (in my lifetime!).

i'm still using a gigantic bassman big bassman for big BASS ACTION, however it is a real pain in the backside to lug around, have to take the front seat out of the car to even fit it and it breaks my spine every time I carry it 20 yards

Years ago, my wife was listening some music and this song cought my attention . We liked it but eventually lost track of it then we noticed Pete Josef was playing a local gig, we decided to go, even though our decision was based solely on a brief, years-old acquaintance with just one song. Getting out is a rare treat for us since we have children, so we took the chance. The concert was phenomenal. Every member of the band was a brilliant musician: the drummer was great, the bass/double bass player top-notch( AND IF YOU ARE A MEMBER HERE GIVE US A SHOUT), and the singer/pianist and guitarist were absolutely impressive. Their performance was a vibrant fusion of jazz, Latin, soul, and dance. While listening to the album didn't move me much, their live performance was truly unbelievable. I highly recommend them! If you are in London on October 26th and free, go see them—they'll make you want to dance , best gig we have been in a while . Btw I'm not on commission for ticket sales but if you go and really enjoy them dm me and I'll send you my PayPal 😂

Do you think of yourself as a musical 'artist'?

People who rap all seem to call themselves artists. Great self belief always helps I suppose... -
