Hammond MIDI pedalboard. Gives me the scope to become Geddy Lee, or a great Organ player .....or the more likely outcome: just playing drone synth notes while I practice noodling bass guitar over the top. -

Double gig bag. Fancy strings. Plus my present to myself - a couple of SBL courses that I bought back in November. Time to bite the bullet and make a conscious effort to improve. -

Difference Between Aguilar Tone Hammer and MarkBass Little Mark?

Typically, now I've ordered my American Professional Classic Precision from the Bass Gallery, I spot these - Listen to the demo on the last frame in the list of pictures... Don't know what strings he's putting on these, but his timber choices and how he makes/winds the pickups sound sublime. https://reverb.com/uk/item/92759611-alnus-bass-precision-bass-2025-aged-dakota-red

100%. You can't necessarily hear a huge difference, but you can feel it when you play it. He did another video of "beginner with expensive Vs pro with cheap", and obviously the difference was in their playing. But the pro pointed out that he spent a lot of his energy fighting the instrument, rather than allowing it to be an extension of his body -

Firstly get well soon to your partner, it’s a bad time to be laid up. The art of speaker design is still an art. You have tools and those tools get better every year but crossover design is still an art, especially passive crossover designs. Sometimes even the experts don’t get it right. I once auditioned two pairs of speakers from the same maker. (DALI) One a small bookshelf and the other a medium sized bookshelf. Although the larger speakers were above my initial budget, I persuaded myself that if they were better, I would take them. To my surprise, the larger pair did not sound as good in the mids. It was as though the crossover had been designed ion paper but never listened to. I can home with the smaller ones, as I originally intended. To me they had no vices, smooth all the way from bottom to top. Your ears may not be able to tell you everything and ears have no memory. However if something is obviously wrong, you ears will know.

I printed off four cylinder puzzles for Xmas and put various Xmas presents in. I have managed to keep four people amused for two hours as they have had to crack their locks. I'm sure that constantly saying "Do you need any help?" was well received by one and all.

Jazz Bass control circuits (passive) - what works for you?
HeadlessBassist replied to JapanAxe's topic in Bass Guitars
It forces a rush of compressed air into the tone wood molecules and makes them vibrate more quickly. As a result the bass resonates faster, making the sound sweeter, generates a more purposeful tone, and thusly the player becomes faster, with improved technique and accuracy, and becomes more God-like. 🤣 You did ask. Happy Christmas one and all! -

Posted this ovwr on TB but thought I’d ask here too… I heard some say that the Fifteen is very addictive and playing along with IEM’s to prerecorded audio the bass and saturation just dissolves into the mix (my way of describing this is very food related thinking like “soul stock cube” or “bass roux”) The saturation fattens and thickens things and the tone blends into the whole ensemble. Have 15 owners found this to be a fair description of what’s happening with this pedal? I’ve always fancied trying the SV but the fifteen feels like it would suit my band (and playing style) better adding thickness without needing the brighter top end. As an example I run a ‘Four on the Floor low gain drive pedal with the HF dials back to about 2.4/2.8kHz for that type of reduced bite up top. -

Which Jazz circuit works best for me? Probably the one with no output jack... Merry Christmas! -
I've only ever used GEQ to notch out problem frequencies. Using the PEQ on each mic to tailor the sound of each chanel to sit in the mix. If the mics are pre-set to sit in the mix in a neutral (rehearsal) room then there still might be a small amount of tweaking on some mic chanels to reduce problem frequencies due to stage acoustics, especially if backline is being used and set too loudly.

Merry Christmas one and all. I've been feeling out of sorts for a few days and today I've woken up with a sore throat, body aches, and fatigue, which are the symptoms for this year's Covid!! -

My Trace Elliot Elf cab is a nightmare. I've not really investigated why, just struggle with it. Maybe changing the socket is in order.

T-shirts - two bass T-shirts from Mrs Zero, and an Ankh-Morpork City Watch one from her sister (which will probably be skin-tight on me as it's only XL).
