You probably don’t need to say much about it… I’m a hardcore fan of Spencer’s 3 Leaf Audio pedals, but in my enthusiasm I ended up buying some pedals twice (why, actually!?). This one has only been sitting on the shelf; the previous owner attached Velcro to the bottom for mounting on a board, which I left on in case someone wants to use it that way. Very light signs of use, see pictures (the iPhone camera is so good that I probably should’ve dusted beforehand… ;). With this generation of the pedal, the lettering is known to flake off a bit, so these are definitely not “rock wear marks.” To my ears, the ultimate octaver: best tracking, fat, punchy, and especially with the fantastic Sub option for that typical Tim Lefebvre / Jojo Mayer Nerve sound. Price: 430 GBP / €490 including shipping (EU and UK). The usual stuff: Since the new EU regulation now provides for a 1-year warranty even for private customers unless the seller excludes it, I hereby declare that I do not assume any warranty for the items I sell privately within the meaning of the EU directive. The sale is made under exclusion of any liability for material defects. No returns.

I have in the past dismantled a GK 200MB combo, and the speaker wires on that are really thin - what I would think of as flexible hookup wire. And GK probably know what they're doing (although personally I wouldn't go for anything that thin, I use whatever spare mains lead is knocking around).

I tried a bassboard at the guitar and bass show in Solihull earlier in the year. It was excellent, and I have added one to my ever expanding list of things I want to build if I ever have the time.

Do you limit yourself to a single brand of pedal?

I do, as long as Zoom keeps putting out their small cheap multiFX stuff I've been using since about 2000. No need to spend more, ever. Sounds as good as anything, you just need to know how to sound, how to get your tone on any platform. Zoom is just another platform. That's it. -

Phil Thanks for this. I did read an article that said AWG 4 (yep that's not a typo) should be used. Not sure I've seen anything that thick TBH. My AWG 16 will be fine then. I'll cut a bit off and solder it down. Does the cable need to be glued down to stop vibration at all? I'm assuming not but checking anyway. Thanks Rob

I was given these albums after a relative that owned them died of cancer, as Bowie also died of cancer I thought selling them to raise ££ for cancer research would be the best thing to do. Selling all three together as a bundle rather than individually. You can publicly put bids on this thread or message me privately with your offer and I'll post up the amount, bids closing on 1st January. I'll transfer 100% of the money to Cancer Research UK and will send you a screenshot of the donation (and you can check my seller feedback), I'll post them to you for free. All are in great condition - the vinyl itself it all amazingly fresh looking for records that are over 50 years old (these are the 1972 pressing for Ziggy and Space Oddity, 1978 for Stage) . The covers are slightly worn, but great condition considering their age. I'm bearing in mind that I could alternatively sell these to a record shop/fair or via Facebook or Discogs (where I see they generally they go for at least £20 each in this condition) so I'll set the reserve at £40.

I’ve found the Boss WL-20 perfectly adequate for the last 10 years. No need for transmitter pouches, it’s built into the unit. Battery life even now is over 6 hours. Range is excellent and it’s pretty good at choosing a frequency that won’t clash with other systems in use by your band mates. The only “feature” I have found in one band, where one of the guitarists uses the same unit, that they can connect to the wrong receiver, if you connect at the same time. It’s easily fixed: one of you repeats the set up procedure and they chose different frequencies. It won’t fit into a Strat style jack socket though.

Phil Starr started following Nut Files what to buy?
-
I want to bring the string height down a little on some of my basses. I'm looking at nut files and they seem to be either less than £10 or over £200 with little in between. There are also some sets of two or three with plastic handles labelled sizes 3-5 without saying what 3-5 actually means in mm or inches. There are also setsof needle files for general purpose use but I already have sets of these, and I've seen people wrapping old strings in sandpaper and using that as a tool. It's Christmas and peopleare asking what to buy me. There's nething I really want but if I could find something that would make the job easier then files in the £20-30 range would be a great present I'd actually use. I hate the idea of people wasting money on something I wouldn't use. Any suggstions?

Wozzit Weigh? In pursuit of a definitive thread (Fender jazz edition)
Lozz196 replied to LawrenceH's topic in Bass Guitars
When me & my mates used to go to the greyhound races I always used to bet on whichever dog you could see taking a dump at the side of the track, figuring it would be lighter so should have a better chance of winning. -

There has always been a great deal of disagreement over heavy vs light instruments. I think it’s generally been acknowledged over many years that guitars that are lighter are praised by experts who speak of better resonance / sustain etc. Whilst that may not always hold true, it has been from my experience with both guitars and basses. Having had a fair few Precisions and Stingrays over the years, the ones I thought were better were indeed the lighter ones. Whilst this may have been partly because they were easier on my aching shoulders, I do think that weight does play some part in what makes an instrument sound great. The best guitar I’ve ever played was a friend’s Fender Esquire from the 50’s, and it was also the lightest. Likewise Gibsons, best Les Pauls and 335s I’ve owned /played have been the lighter ones. My 63 P bass is fairly light at under 8lbs, and my regular gigging bass is a P-Lyte at 7lbs ( as you would expect!). Both are very resonant basses.
