  2. Thanks, so you guys are switching between rest strokes and free strokes depending on the line then?
  3. Out of interest which is lighter?
  4. Dave bought my Mini P Bass. He was an absolute pleasure to deal with from start to end and I would recommend him to all BC’ers without reservation. Thanks again Dave👍
  5. Hi, For sale the above, in full working order and great condition. Not needed now, recording finished. Price includes UK Mainland Delivery.
  6. Ooh! I got it right 😲 Just as well as a Flea Bass owner, I prefer the less 'lively' sound for my purposes.
  7. Is no. 2 the Flea? It sounds darker.
  8. Thanks for the replies both - Yes I got it sorted, I changed the tube and turns out this was the issue 🙂 Yes, you did reply to me Nathan, you advised to swap the tube and kindly offered a warranty repair on anything other than this which was very much appreciated and fortunately not needed 🙂
  9. The Jackson headstock always looked a bit compact to me. I used to own a Charvel bass (probably before you were born 😆) - THAT'S a headstock!
  10. As long as you get some good quality tone dust to replace it with, it's not a problem.
  11. Bast###s In what area did it go missing?
  12. The hell even is that?
  13. Looks to me like they seriously overstocked on custom shop telecasters.

  15. I have just had the pleasure of relieving Tim (dodgnofski) of his Squire Mini Precision bass. What a wicked little bit of kit. I contacted Tim and told him that I wanted it but as I was just about to go on holiday he was happy to sit on the deal until I returned last Friday. It was a faultless financial transaction and the instrument arrived today well packed and exactly as described. If the situstion arises I will have no hesitation in dealing with him again.
  16. Who'd of thunk people might not want to pay over £7000 for a bass made from a piece of wood half eaten by worms! I suppose there's merit in the experimental nature of the build, but with a pre-clearance price of over £7000, you'd have to be utterly insane to buy one...
  17. The neck profile is one of the more comfortable around. It's quite wide at the nut, but the necks are always quite thin (fingers to thumb) and are more of a shallow 'D' shape. As DoctorJ pointed out, most of the 2eq models are boost only, whereas the 3eq instruments are cut/boost with a centre detent on the controls. I'm personally not a fan of the maple fingerboards, as they always seem to look mucky. I'd be going for a late 80's - 90's 2eq with the satin finished neck, as opposed to the oil finish which always feels rough to the touch to me. I'm not into all that gunstock oil and sanding of necks nonsense. Others have mentioned the uneven output of the MM humbucker when comparing strings. That's a very common thing. Many have come up with solutions, but just about the best [and most even] MM sound I've heard to date is my 1995 natural ash Stingray 2eq with Aguilar's OBP-2 preamp, and the Aguilar AG-4M pickup. Oh, and it only weighs 8.7lbs. The mid-2000s onwards Stingray Classic is an excellent 2eq bass as well.
  18. What’s with that Bacci bass 🥴
  19. As also found on the Sire M6, so it's not just anonymous Chinese makers who do that.

I've got a pretty much identical 2015 American Std that I picked up from Bass Bros about three years ago for use in a Led Zep tribute. As you say, you can't really knock it - sounds like it's supposed to, looks the part, plays well and very robust. A great bass for not an awful lot of money. I've also got a 09 Am Std in natural with a white scratchplate, which is a really nice bass that I bought for less than a grand...!
  21. Yeah but pity the poor sod who paid £5k yesterday. Or those PRS with the casual £2500 off, that probably stings if you got one last week.
  22. Have you considered the Hils HNB5? There's also the upcoming Sire M6. The only thing about these is that there is currently only a fan-fret option. Kiesel also make headless basses: https://www.kieselguitars.com/models/bass
