Not an easy task… I’d go with Erykah Badu Live album with Hubert Eaves IV on bass.

I buy/listen to albums because I think the songs are good and not for any particular instrument. The only time I have bought albums for a particular instrument was in the late 90s when I bought the entire Led Zeppelin back catalogue so I could make my own set of John Bonham drum samples and loops. As a listening experience I found it unrelentingly dull apart from In Through The Out Door which made me realise why they had signed The Pretty Things to their Swan Song Label because the music Led Zeppelin were producing at the time, sounded to me like a second-rate version of Silk Torpedo and Savage Eye. Once I had grabbed all the audio I needed I sold the CDs. I think I used some the samples on a couple of songs my band was writing at the time. I've probably still got them in folder on a hard drive somewhere.

Jaco didn't need more than 4 strings but then Jaco didn't play technical death metal. Maybe if he'd lived longer and played other styles he'd have used an extended range instrument.

I saw this on IG and thought it looked very nice too! If you’re looking for a semi acoustic, i saw this on BD and it looks very nice, and a decent price i think compared to similar I’ve seen for sale in the past. https://www.bassdirect.co.uk/product/italia-maranello-cavo-bass-brown-pre-owned/ -

Hi. Has anyone any experience with the pitch shifter on the GP-5/50? Considering buying the GP-50 as a back up, and I need to tune to D and C☺️

Yes. Top notch quality, Japanese boutique basses. Thin, fast necks generally. Most are provided with an active preamp, which is killer (DFBP-3). They have two main lines, one more reasonably priced (e.g. CJ-4 or 5) and one with exotic woods etc. Most are lightweight……..around 3.3 to 3.5 kg. They are up there with Moon and Atelier Z by comparison.

All American Alien Boy - Ian Hunter. Jaco handled the bass duties with a wide range of styles. I don’t particularly like Ian Hunter, but this album just hits the spot for me every time I listen to it.

The Power Of Love - Huey Lewis & The News

Told you it wasn't AI though... 😆 Dang 4 stringers... always trying to change the past...

Well I mostly work from home but you’re right it’s not ideal if you have made other plans

I'm joining the Party a bit on the late side I know, but only just read your Post reaching out to RBX owners/players. I'm quite a fan of Yamaha basses, I have five including an RBX375 and a RBX775. I love the build quality across the range, IMO it really is very good for the money. This feels especially solid on the RBX models. I love the necks too though I wouldn't disagree if someone criticised them for feeling chunky. I've had some issue with the electrics on both my 375 and the 775 which was easily sorted by my local guitar tech however my biggest gripe is the muddy sound from the dull pickups. Something else which you see often commented on by 'On-Line' critics. I can see why owners whip the stock ones out and replace with something with a bit more Oomph ! I've often wondered how the 375/775 compares against a 765a ? I've tried experimenting with different strings and played the basses through different amps. At the end of the day we all have a particular sound that works best for us.. My RBX's deliver very well finger plucked but less so when slapped. Just my opinion. That said, as I say, I do love 'em and for me they are keepers. Secondhand, they're pretty good value too though beware of overly ambitious sellers thinking they're sitting on a gold mine and asking silly money.

me too. I do the odd dep in covers bands so get to use the other basses outside of the tribute stuff

I had a wee go at this today - almost had a like modulation type sound

Turns out I completely misremembered and was thinking of a different case! That said, this is mine and it is different…it’s the ‘plush’ type G&G made. No fender logo on the front.
