  1. Past hour
  2. So some leaked pics of the rehearsal room are doing the rounds on social media. Looks like the bass rig is a pair of Fender Super Bassman's with matching 8x10's. No sign of the basses being used yet
  3. Hi folks, just thought I'd post an update here based on a few conversations... I appreciate this is a big - and expensive - item and it's a long way to travel for many people so I've had a think about how far south I'm able to travel for a meet up from Edinburgh... West - Abington Services on M74 East - Berwick upon Tweed. Middle - Jedburgh Hope that helps a little. It's not a heavy cabinet but it's dimensions make it difficult to package up for posting so I don't think that's an option. Thanks for the enquiries so far.
  4. I tried the Minimax and it seemed like overkill after the Elf. Too complicated for the likes of me…
  5. I think it was 2011 when they redid the Queen back catalogue. All they seemed to do was add more of Brian into the mix over the top of others things happening. However Queen I as it is now known is incredible. I bought it on vinyl as I have most of their albums on vinyl plus I really like their earlier stuff and was really impressed
  6. What a challenging transcription to have made! It's not just the notes, it's the feel too – what a player! I have one request (and you can ignore me and throw stuff at the screen if you want). When you're doing these walking jazz transcriptions, could you put the chord at the top of the bar? That way I can sit there and try and figure out what he's doing as it relates to the key? (I know I can do this myself, and I do)
  7. Just a guess but does the V7 have a headphone switch ? I recall Ashdown did this as well and it mutes the main speaker out ! Just a thought
  8. If you 'try' something in a shop the item is still on the retailer's premises. I'm not aware of many instances where a physical shop would allow someone to take the item home, without paying for it, to sort of test it out.
  9. More Tan a Feeling - Boston
  10. What about one of the Peavey amp heads ? Minimax I think it was called ? I used my ELF into a 2x12 4ohm cab with a loud rock band and it kept up nicely
  11. If it’s online rather than bricks and mortar it may well just be located in a distribution centre staffed by by 3rd party employees who have nothing to do with the online store. Their job is to take stuff off shelves and get it on vans for delivery. Online sales are cheaper for a reason. If you want the personal touch buy in store, preferably from an independent retailer.
  12. I remember selling basses like this in 1990/91 Always prefered them to the soundgear things there were some lairy colours too
  13. Dropped the price on this again as I’ve had some unexpected repairs come up on the work van so needs must unfortunately!
  14. if that was the reason (a very understandable one) why did they just not give it their answer was evasive
  15. Well, some bands first/earlier recordings are their best, before the "engineers" and "producers" started dicking around. Led Zep 1, Black Sabbath 1, Deep Purple (3rd).
  16. 'In stock' does not mean 'to hand', I suppose. If they had to open up the packaging of a new bag, and it didn't fit as you would like, it's no longer 'new' for another customer. If you'd gone to the shop, they may not let you try your test on new gear, either, for the same reason. Unreasonable..? A bit 'limit', I'd say, but not so unusual.
  17. Tempting, but too far away. GLWTS.
  18. I don't get the urge to make amps look pristine but make guitars look relic'd. I love the look of a relic"d amp. Amps have a far harder life than guitars on the road. This one looks superb. I'd leave as is. GLWTS
  19. Price Drop to £150.
  20. U.K. postage is around 70 on Shiply so would let this go for £400 delivered Thanks
  21. It strange isn't it. I've had a lot of the boutique stuff (Shuker, Alembic, etc) and I find that while they're all beautifully made they're complex to coax out a great sound, ofter over-engineered and, well, a bit ugly. The more gigs I play and the more varied music I'm asked to work on, I value the simplicity and quality of the American Fenders I've had.
  22. Today
  23. I had one that just about kept up with a drum kit for rehersals
  24. Morning All I have a Gibson SG Bass and would like a good quality soft case so I can get it in my car boot (out of sight). A Fellow BC'r suggested the Gator Icon guitar bag. Whilst looking at this I saw another bag which designed for loner 6 string guitars, which offered good protection. So I contacted the Retailer to ask if they could try the base in the said bag (both were in stock). However, I was informed that they do not provide this service request. I could purchase the bag and return it if it was not suitable. If I had gone to the shop I would have asked to check the fit before buying, so see little difference in the fact that the purchase was online. I wasn't impressed, or ids it just me? Cheers Charla
  25. I find fender stuff laughably mediocre for the money, especially as you go up their ranges, the CS stuff being Hurracan money for a Hyundai Elantra equivalent. The options they give are fairly limited and the price so high, hard pass. I'd rather build my own from Warmoth. I've owned a ton of them over time, and played more, but I don't think I'd spend my own hard earned on one if I was after something like they offered.
