    I was waiting for THAT comment. And it was such a success that Ibanez decided to stop the production of headless basses just after for a very, very, very long period.

    I had a Flamed Sycamore custom lined fretless 4 string back in early 80's but moved it on. Wish i had kept it. Cost me £740 new. Happy days. 😂 They do make some wonderful looking and sounding basses. Don't get much better than WAL. Dave

    Thanks very much for the info. I've been putting it's through it's paces the last day - it's a glorious instrument. Incredibly easy to play and sounds great. I can see me picking this up before my PJ most of the time! It came with rounds, so I'll be getting some flats on it pronto.

    As above. Remember that your also auditioning the band so be confident, pleasant and unassuming but not a shrinking violet. It's a difficult balance but most people just want to work with others who are easy to get on with. As for the notes? Show a bit of spark, attitude in your playing like your really loving it. Make eye contact, show em your fun to be with on stage. Good luck.

    Pickups! Bought the bobbins and cases from AliExpress - dirt cheap, arrived in about 5 days so not bad time wise. Originally wound to 6500 turns per coil, reduced to 4250 as they were a bit on the dark side. Mild steel flat bar from eBay, cut to length with the angle grinder, ceramic bar magnet between the bars. I think they sound great

    Anyone need a PA amp? Usual excellent Crown quality, this amp has only had light use and comes in a Chord carry bag. Not sure what the total weight is, but the amp on its own is under 4kg, so very portable XLR inputs, Speakon outputs for most users, plus various other options as per photos As well as standard Stereo, the amp can be configured as follows: Crossover Mode (CH1=LPF, CH2=HPF) – this mode enables a LowPass Filter on Channel 1 and a HighPass Filter on Channel 2 at the frequency chosen. LowPass Mode (CH1=LPF, CH2=LPF) – this mode enables a LowPass Filter on both Channel 1 and Channel 1 at the frequency chosen. HighPass Mode (CH1=HPF, CH2=HPF) – this mode enables a HighPass Filter on both Channel 1 and Channel 2 at the frequency chosen. You can also put it into 'Bridge' mode for seriously high levels of output (according to the spec 1.5kW into 4ohm) Pickup from Uxbridge area, or I'll courier to you at cost.

    With a latency of 40 years for the both of them... I've been playing mostly headless fretless sixers over around the same period, so Ibanez and Dingwall are a bit late to the party, aren't they.
