Jeeze, the length some people will go to. Sounds like you made the right call not worrying about contacting him about it. To go to that extreme then he either has serious issues, or is a little shit not worth knowing.

Loving my Sandberg TT Superlight, have now used it in both my classic rock band and my street punk band, radically different sounds for each and it delivers for both really well. And being a Superlight it’s so easy on my back & shoulders too.

Anyone recognise this 15" speaker?
TheBassCripple replied to TheBassCripple's topic in Amps and Cabs
Yep! I think you have cracked it! The fins and the casting are identical. Seems like a decent speaker to be honest. And there's some slight paint runs in it so I think it has been sprayed at some point. Thanks so much -

Hi @Papabull I must admit I smiled when I saw your thread title. It really is one of those how long is a piece of string topics, and is a very deep and dark rabbit hole to fall down. Personally, I didn't use compression for about 30 years, then came on here and decided that I should. I then spent a fortune on various boutique compressors before eschewing compression altogether. Currently though, my amp is an Orange LBT, which has a bloody great compressor built into it, so compression is now very much baked into my sound. I'd very much recommend having a look at https://ovnilab.com/faq.shtml as I found it an invaluable resource. Enjoy the journey and try not to bankrupt yourself! 🙂

If you want fuzz this will give it to you in spades. A few marks and some velcro on the back but otherwise it's in good condition. I'm having a clearout at the moment as I haven't been in a band for a few years now, otherwise I'd be keeping it. I'm afraid I can't find the box but it will be packed well when posted.

Just got in from a Knock Off rehearsal. Used my new (to me) Sandberg TT Superlight as back really playing up at the moment. And very well it did too, no matter what I’m playing this bass just adapts so well. Only problem is as it’s still quite warm, and we play quite hard I am now very smelly. Yuck! -
Squier E-series 1980s MIJ Precision Bass Japan - advice please?
Jean-Luc Pickguard replied to Morgie's topic in Bass Guitars
The reason this should be more valuable than a modern Squier is that it is made in Japan. The earliest japanese Squiers, the vintage-styled JV series are the most desirable and often go for Fender money. Unfortunately this is not one of those. I believe this is sometimes referred to an 'E series' Squier due to the 'E' serial number which indicates it was manufactured in 1987. I'm not 100% sure but I suspect this might be a medium scale precision bass rather than the more common long scale. To check this measure the length of the string between the points of contact (at the nut & bridge saddle) For an indication of the ballpark value, here's a link to what appears to be the same model but in a sunburst finish and possibly in slightly better condition https://www.yeahmansguitars.com/products/1987-squier-by-fender-japan-medium-scale-precision-bass-sunburst?variant=21864889483343 I would suggest spending a little time to find other examples of this model which have sold recently. Then maybe list it on the for-sale forum here at a price you're comfortable with (a one-off listing is available at reasonable cost) or list it on ebay where the bidding can determine how much someone would be prepared to pay for it. -
Well, I had 10 GU10 50W light bulbs in my kitchen. i replaced them for LEDs, so now it is 25W instead of 0.5kW of lights. Looking on the net, it says the Gigbar 2 is 6x 3.5W Quad-colour LEDs + Strobe: 4x 1.8W Dual-colour LEDs plus 6x 6W LEDs. So that would be 60W if they were all on at the same time (ie, all on bright white and not cycling colours). Yes, but it is complicated and you would need to know what your duty cycle of your amp use is. I mean if you are playing a thrash song with bass / drums / vocals in the PA, you would use a lot more power than if you are were playing 7 nation army for instance, which is 80% gap. Next time you have a gig measure it, and then you will know for the following sale!

A bit like 5 string bass players who haven't first learnt how to play like Pastorius. Outrageous. -

I use a very mildly set one at the beginning of my signal chain on my GX-100 to provide a bit more note attack. You almost wouldn't know it was on until you turn it off. There are still plenty of dynamics to play with. After it I've got overdrive, fuzz, distortion, octaver, delay and reverb to play with. I tried it in a few different places before settling on the beginning of the chain, but that was where I preferred it. Don't be afraid to play around and twist the knobs to the extremes to find the limits of what it can do.

The acoustic bass.... part of the electric bass family! -
@synthaside like you I have a trusty Zoom B3 that I've solely used for nearly a decade, no other pedal. I'm still very fond of it, it can handle whole gigs with it's versatile DI so I never needed a pedalboard. Until now. Going wireless sent me on a new path... Here's a snippet from the first gig of the GP-5 tone "Fing(er) Bass" direct to my bass combo Ampeg BA210-v2 with it's EQ high Mi, low Bass+Treble (the inverse of scooped). No other pedal or effect at all. SNIPPET of Signed, Sealed, Delivered (I'm Yours) - 20250823 - Soul Destination.mp3 It's recorded with no added effects or processing on the recorder or on my laptop, i.e. that's as faithful a sound on stage, on the floor between the bass drum and my pedalboard with the combo behind me. Hence why the drums are super clear too. Good luck with your efforts with the band.

harrison started following Ashdown ABM 400 Head and 4x10 Cab inc flightcase

For sale my Ashdown ABM 400 head with ABM 4x10 cab and flightcase for the cab. They've seen a fair bit of touring, I think/hope i've priced it fairly considering that. They still sound fantastic! These were built from what I think is the first ABM range by Ashdown. Built in the UK and I think in the early 90's. I've had the head and cab since around 2009 and bought the flightcase for the cab around 2014. They've seen a fair bit of action over the years but haven't really let me down. The tolex on the head and cab are looking pretty tatty in places and some of the knobs on the head have come off over the years and had to be replaced. Some of that patches on the tolex are from stickers and tags to identify them as mine backstage etc. The flightcase has a couple of spots of rust but is other wise in great nick and the wheels and brakes work well. Internal dimensions for the flightcase are W615, D425, H675. Custom built by the Flightcase Warehouse UK. Selling as they had been sat in a rehearsal room for a while but my band are no longer renting that space and I don't have room at home. Collection or meet up only.

Chauvet Gigbar2, 2 x Chauvet DJ and 1 x Worldlite Party DJ (I do need to upgrade that set up at some point soon - following Phil's LED lights thread with interest!) Tbh I was guestimating the wattage from the lights, but given we use 6 x GU10 50W LED lightbulbs in the kitchen ceiling, didn't think it was an outrageous estimate? Yes would be 800W for just the PA over 2 hours. But was wondering if there was a sense check at arriving at the number from "first principles"?

Morgie started following Squier E-series 1980s MIJ Precision Bass Japan - advice please?
-
Hi all - I've just joined here hoping for some advice as I am very much not a bass player (which will become apparent in seconds I'm sure). I bought a Squier P bass second hand in about 1995 (when all i really wanted to be in life was Melissa Auf der Maur) and promptly never learnt to play it in the last 30 years. Time to finally let it go though reluctantly - I listed it on eBay a couple of days ago but I was just looking at the price of what I thought was the same thing but new (see? Not a bass player) - this evening some kind soul has reached out to me to tell me how entirely wrong I am and that what I actually have is what I've put in the title here. They suggested I post here for help. I've attached the photos I took of it (the listing is still up but I'm going to take it down) - and I'm not in a rush to get it gone - but If anyone is amenable to casting an expert eye over this and letting me know a) where I should be advertising this for sale and b) roughly what price I should be selling it at, I would be super grateful. Thank you!
