The Short Scale Bass Appreciation Society!

Cheaper older ones are available on BC Marketplace! -
I was about to suggest the VHS plugin, but I’m late to the party again. It’s really useful on your master bus and will even give you emulations to f common studio speakers if that’s what you’re used to.

I’m loving my Player II as well 🤟👍

The Short Scale Bass Appreciation Society!

This could be fun. The neck pickup is a bit wonky, but that's easily sorted. If I wasn't skint I'db tempted to turn it into a fretless (has anyone done that to a Mustang/Musicmaster btw? I couldn't see anything on Youtube) https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/376440384712 -
July , Tis the time for another Composition Challenge

If you can find some frequency graphs for those specific phones you might be able to add an eq curve to flatten them out. If they're a popular brand they should be out there somewhere. I use a plugin called Hornet VHS that has a large library of headphones' response curves. What is the make and model? I'll see if they're listed. -

Out of curiosity, what makes you feel like Origin can achieve that feel when they will also not be tube driven? Si -
Very Steam Punkesque if I might say. Great looking Precision....enjoy playing it!

Hi Pete No, with the way I move my gear on much (actually make that very much) has come & gone in that period. And much more to go too now I`m giving up gigging.

Because I am horrified by what I have read in the pages of this thread, and the Vice link aniki posted. That's why. Like you say, we can all pick and choose where we rehearse, and on the basis of this thread I would pick and choose to avoid Pirate like the proverbial.

OK - so I did listen to the track - headphones on, at volume, all the way through. I was mentally preparing an unbiased critique, talking about song structure, instrumental discipline, some basic production/mastering which might pull a coherent song out of what we were presented with. And then I noticed our pal Mr Layne ain't exactly a newb around here, having uploaded 6 songs a good few years back. I got curious & went a-Googlin'. https://www.soundclick.com/johnlayneandtheaeonspromiseband Two hundred and seventy two songs. I don't think there's much I could teach John L about songwriting & production. Not that he'd listen to, anyway. 🙂 -

I've got a couple of these. 45-105 works well and I like 40-100 on most longscales. One on of my SRMD I have Dunlop Medium Scale Flatwounds on it at 45-105. They cost a bloody fortune but they also last an easy decade. That bass has a lot of upgrades too - £300+ of EMG pickups and preamp. The build quality is more than good enough for upgrade spending.

Fender FotoFlame Precision Bass - PRICE DROP
mr4stringz replied to nick_gontarski's topic in Basses For Sale
I’ll chime in on that as I’ve had one since the mid-90s. It’s a photographic film (hence Foto Flame) that was applied onto a (typically) Alder body. They weren’t around for long as the finishes often cracked, as mine did. I think I’m right in saying that, in terms of spec, they were a ‘62 reissue. Apols for geeking out, but I always get excited when I see a Foto Flame Precision. They’re not widely loved it seems, but I’ve found mine to be my favourite Precision I’ve ever played. It’s certainly the only bass I’ve ever kept for that length of time. GLWTS to the OP! -
Some lovely patina starting on this recently fitted, untreated brass pickguard from Tinytone. EMG's are now gone. Solderless controls and Tonerider Classic pickups have been fitted along with some LaBella flats. Holy Motown. One of my favourite instruments to play now..
