  1. Past hour
  2. Many thanks for the nod! Appreciated. They're expensive enough, especially when the Vintera 60's exist. I know they're not nitro, but they're half the price.... Cool. What was it you didn't like about the pickup? I assume the neck/playability/fit and finsih all check the boxes? What weight is yours? Cool - I think I'd be good with the vintage pickup...how does it score at the vintage thing in your experience? I would pop some la bella flats on there too most likely...
  3. Maybe the heavy bass response of a Stingray needs to travel out into the room to make sense?
  4. I’m in general not that concerned with speaker sizes but a few years back used an Ashdown 2x15 and it was really good, in fact it was using that cab that made me switch to Ashdown gear.
  5. Very much this. Get your gear off stage quickly and break it down out of the way of the band trying to get on. The number of times drummers try to put cymbals and snare into cases on stage is maddening!
  6. I may be able to help with the lift Not literally of course, and you may not thank me. It involves another build. I enjoyed playing around with my 15 and the Bash coincided with a couple of people asking for a 15" design. So... I've quietly adapted the design I have to be an 'Easy Build' project and when the drawings are ready it will be good to go. It weighs in at around 14kg at the moment which for me is a one handed carry.
  7. Yep. Check out Barbara Dennerlein, too. Amazing bass pedal work.
  8. I like this, looks great.
  9. Also depends on the position of the listener or measuring point, hence my original post.
  10. Hi all, We’ve recently got 2x RCF Evox J8s and they seem fine for typical indoor pub gigs. We’re putting vox, keys and kick through them, plus lower level bass/gtr (we have backline gtr/bass cabs too) We have a few outdoor gigs next year and I’m wondering if the J8s will be enough. Has anyone tried adding extra speakers? We have some old powered 12s. I’m thinking we could use them like monitor wedges on the floor, but facing the audience not us (we use IEMs so don’t need floor monitors). Has anyone done anything like this before? Thanks!
  11. It's born for funk and rock music! Thanks to the ramp and 35 scale it manages to maintain a relatively low action and can be played also with a... "physical finge style"!
  12. Exactly 😆 There's a song by Dylan, I forget which one, and it has the most awful dissonance at one point - it's in a sax solo - to the point that it makes my teeth hurt! My bandmate's can't hear it, or more to the point, it isn't dissonant to them. Brains are funny things
  13. Oh yes, an amp with brushed aluminium face sounds brighter and harsher than its sibling with black face. Don't ever make a unit that is brown!
  14. Cabinet: on the floor +3 dB (one plane) against the wall +6 dB (two planes) in the corner +9 dB (three planes) Room dimensions usually amplify certain frequencies, see: standing waves. Depending on the placement of the cab, and materials some frequencies may be attenuated, too. Use an RTA to analyze the space and the response.
  15. At last we see it! Well done.
  16. Incredibly, yesterday I called up Bass Direct and they assured me they had some in stock, I ordered one and it just arrived today as promised. Colour me impressed! Thomann still can't guarantee a delivery date after having been paid for the pedal two months ago - they just agreed to process the refund. Now to get to grips with the pedal!
  17. It takes some experimenting, but I've done just that. I built thus scope, Including the focuser, around an ED lens cell. Won a silver medal for it
  18. I always put a small amount of reverb through the iem feeds. It adds an extra dimension that really helps the bass sit in the mix.
  19. BTW it has NOT been explained, sensation and perception are a major player in audio, what happens inside the skull can be as important as what goes on outside it.
  20. Today
  21. Some people don’t like sunburst finishes, some do 👍
  22. Even after it's been explained, people are still saying they prefer something which has no bearing on the sound. . . . a speaker size!!!
  23. The low end can definitely change with cab position. Put it 4' from the wall and your lows will be much diminished by the reflected bass coming back out of synch. True. 12" is close enough that the reflection adds to the cab.
  24. Noticed Andertons now have stock. My Amazon order is due on Thursday so I’ll stick with that.
